As Briton and I were going from one place to another, we spotted this beauty way up in a big tree. Briton swings around and I got out and shot it. Best kind of Drive by shooting I like to hear about. Cooper's Hawk Plymouth Meeting Pa.
A kayaker's dream scene, I had to pinch myself. The water is constantly changing with the light which makes this place quite magical. Earlier in the day I went for a long swim, I was determined not to squeal getting in like some of the old guys I heard. People were looking at me like I was some kind of strange, cold blooded water creature after I dived in without making a sound. The ice cold water isn't easy to embrace but once in, you don't want to get out, so refreshing on a hot day.

Another candid from the last trip with Das StadtKind :) Hope he forgives me for posting this, hehe :)
Another fabulous day with the Famous Flickr Five+ group shooting in the Dandenongs.
We all spent quite a bit of time face down on the ground as I did for this capture, which you can see in David's lovely capture here: Lisa Getting Serious About The Shot.
Thanks again Dave and thanks to Beverley for the idea for the title of this one too!
But at her friend, not me who was working candidly :)

Have a good Sunday. Now we are supposed to be in Spring we had hail storms yesterday.
Somewhere along the Big Sur coast.
During my four-day loss of internet service, I decided I had enough images to start another collection, Shooting Sandstone.
From San Francisco to San Diego, I have shot sandstone, cliffs, rocks, formations, caves, whatever.
Going through the images and picking the best was something I have been thinking about for a while now. Thanks to AT&T, I finally had time.
Selective focus on daffodils or lilies from my photo archives. This shot seems useful on a dull day in February not long after Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and "predicted" six more weeks of winter. [DSC05525_lr_3000]
Thank you all for your clicks, comments and faves.

We hiked the River Trail at Smith Rock State Park and went up on the Mesa Verde Trail below the 350 foot pillar of the famed Monkeyface, a favorite of climbers.
The sky was full of clouds as the sun began to rise.
It was tinging the clouds orange and I noticed this plane approaching so waited for it to move through the cloud and leave its vapour trail.
It was a very interesting night last night... All sorts of satellites, shooting stars and all sorts of other crazy things were going on.
I was standing at Lake Minnewanka and there were faint pillars of Aurora. Out of no where there was all kinds of white flashing... At first I thought it was lightning... My new theory is space debris entering the Earth's atmosphere.
Anyway... It was a very fun night with a lot going on haha.

Finally the world seems to be taking note of the over use of single use plastics. I wrote my design thesis on environment package design well over twenty years ago and little seems to have progressed over most of that time. Now, thankfully companies and governments are starting to at least make noises that things need to change.
These are the tips of a bunch of tiny zip ties.
HMM!
A photographer on the lower leve of the Outer Drive Bridge in Chicago - took a while to get a decent silhouette with no cars blocking the view.
The Protestant Church of St. Katharinen, which dates back to the 13th century, with its 115 meter high tower cannot be overlooked when you are traveling in the Hafencity in Hamburg.
It is considered the oldest upright building in Hamburg that is still in use.
Due to its proximity to the harbor, it is considered the sailors' church. That is why she also bears the name of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, the patron saint of sailors and merchants.
Since Hamburg was one of Europe's centers for trade and shipping at the time, this makes perfect sense.
Further to the left in the background you can see the church of St. Nikolai, which was destroyed in the Second World War and of which only the tower remains today as a memorial.
