ENG: Some cranes of the Hamburg EuroGate Container Terminal are on display. I have taken pictures of the headland from the HVV passenger ferry 62.
The Waltershofer harbour used to be home to almost 4000 people until the great storm tide of 1962 and the expansion of the harbour turned the Elbe island into an industrial quarter. Today Waltershof is the smallest district in Hamburg, at least in terms of population: only two people are officially at home in the district, which consists of Parkhafen harbour in the north, Petroleumhafen harbour in the west and Waltershofer Hafen harbour in the southeast. But amateur photographers and ship spotters get their money's worth here between the romance of seafaring and the banging of containers colliding with each other. On the Bubendey shore, for example, you have a magnificent view of the container giants in front of the panorama of the city.

SSCV Sleipnir is a semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) owned and operated by Heerema Marine Contractors. It is named for Sleipnir, the eight-legged horse ridden by Odin in Norse mythology. The vessel is equipped with two revolving cranes built by Huisman Equipment B.V., each with a capacity of 10,000 t (11,000 short tons); the main cranes can be operated in tandem to jointly lift 20,000 t (22,000 short tons). It was ordered in 2015 and built in Singapore by Sembcorp Marine. After its completion in 2019, SSCV Sleipnir succeeded Heerema's earlier SSCV Thialf as the largest crane vessel in the world.
