A portrait of two goth-punk girls photographed in Kyoto, Japan. As a punk rocker from the late 1970's, I'm naturally drawn to the fashion of sub-cultures in society. They continue to exhibit the same two fingers up attitude to the world as I once did (and dare I say, still do). I saw these two beautiful girls walking down the street in Kyoto and knew I had to ask for a portrait which they graciously accepted. Dressed in black and white, using my Q2M was a natural fit, if not obligatory! Thank you girls, this is one of my favourite shots from my time in Kyoto and brings back memories of my youth.

Gion, Kyoto, Japan.
The famous Izumoya restaurant with showcase windows lit up at night and people dining inside. The restaurant is next to the Shijo bridge over the Kamo River and close to the Gion-Shijo Station.
Minamiza Kabuki Theatre.
Shijo Avenue, Higashiyama Ward, Gion, Kyoto, Japan.
The Minami-za (Minamiza theatre), on the corner of Shijo-dori (Shijo Avenue) and Kawabata-dori in Gion, is Kyoto’s premier kabuki theatre. It was founded in 1610 as Shijō Minami-za. The current building with 1.086 seats was built in 1929.
The photo was taken on the Shijo bridge over the Kamo River. On the right: the Gion-Shijo Metro Station.

Whilst walking down one of the main shopping streets in Kyoto, I saw this girl and her friend walking toward me so I asked if I could take their portraits (see the other photo I posted earlier). I love the goth punk look and these girls nailed it.
