Sif's golden blonde hair is reminiscent of the cornfields that around harvest time appear to the imagination as golden hair blowing in the wind. The name Sif is still a very common female name in Sweden (Siv).

Bragi, son of Odin and devoted husband of the golden-apple goddess Iðunn, is honored as the Norse god of poetry and eloquence. His words, sweet as mead, weave memory into song and bind the deeds of gods and heroes into verses that defy time. As the welcomer of the fallen in Valhalla, he greets warriors with tales of their valor, ensuring their names endure in everlasting fame. Bragi’s gift is no mere flourish of speech but the shaping of truth and legacy, for through him, words become bridges between realms—the living and the dead, the past and what is yet to come. With harp in hand and wisdom upon his tongue, he embodies the sacred might of storytelling, where every stanza is both saga and spell.

Thor, the brawny thunder god, is the archetype of a loyal and honorable warrior, the ideal toward which the average human warrior aspired. He’s the indefatigable defender of the Aesir gods and their fortress, Asgard, from the encroachments of the giants, who are usually (although far from invariably) the enemies of the gods.
In addition, Thor also played a large role in the promotion of agriculture and fertility of the land. This was another extension of his role as a sky god, and one particularly associated with the rain that enables crops to grow. Legend has it that when Thor struck the land with his mighty lightning, it insured the land's fruitfulness and the abundant harvest, which ultimately meant the survival of the inevitably long and brutal Scandinavian winter.

Baldur, the radiant god of light, purity, and peace, stands as one of the most beloved and revered figures in Norse mythology. Known for his unmatched beauty, kindness, and wisdom, he also possessed the courage and skill of a warrior, embodying both grace and strength. The son of Odin and Frigg, Baldur was a symbol of harmony among the Aesir gods, his very presence inspiring hope and joy. Yet his life was shadowed by a prophetic dream of his own death, which tragically came to pass through the cunning of Loki. Struck down by a mistletoe dart—crafted from the one material his mother overlooked in her efforts to render him invincible—Baldur’s untimely demise sent ripples of grief throughout the nine realms and foretold the doom of Ragnarök. Though lost to the world for a time, Baldur’s legacy as a noble warrior and bringer of light endures, with his eventual return heralding the dawn of a renewed age.

In a Norse-inspired perspective, Eostre (Ostara) could be seen as a lesser-known goddess of spring, dawn, and renewal, akin to Sól, Freyja, or Idunn in her connection to light, life, and fertility. While she is more commonly associated with Anglo-Saxon and Germanic traditions, a Norse interpretation would place her among the Vanir gods, those tied to nature, growth, and rebirth.
Eostre’s arrival would herald the breaking of winter’s hold, her footsteps melting the last frost as she weaves golden light into the fields. Hares and eggs, symbols of fertility, would be sacred to her, and the dawn itself would be her cloak of shimmering gold. She might walk the realms of Midgard and Asgard, bringing warmth where Skadi’s cold once ruled. In a Viking’s eyes, she would not be a mere maiden of spring, but a shieldmaiden of light, battling the lingering shadows of winter so that the world might awaken once more.

"Idun, in Norse mythology, the goddess of spring or rejuvenation and the wife of Bragi, the god of poetry. She was the keeper of the magic apples of immortality, which the gods must eat to preserve their youth. When, through the cunning of Loki, the trickster god, she and her apples were seized by the giant Thiassi and taken to the realm of the giants, the gods quickly began to grow old. They then forced Loki to rescue Idun, which he did by taking the form of a falcon, changing Idun into a nut (in some sources, a sparrow), and flying off with her in his claws." - Amy Tikkanen for Britannica.

Skadi, the Norse goddess of winter, hunting, and mountains, is a fierce and independent figure in Norse mythology. Known as the "Giantess of the Winter Winds," she is often depicted as a skilled archer, traversing snowy peaks and icy wilderness with unmatched strength and grace. Skadi's connection to nature, particularly the cold and untamed elements, reflects her resilient and determined spirit. After marrying the sea god Njord as part of a truce between the gods and giants, she maintained her love for the mountains, embodying both the beauty and harshness of winter's embrace. Skadi’s legacy continues as a symbol of endurance, freedom, and the power of the natural world.

Sif is a distinguished goddess, recognized for her connections with beauty, fertility, and the harvest. As the spouse of the formidable Thor, she embodies elegance, loyalty, and the vital aspects of nature that nurture life. Sif's most iconic characteristic is her long, golden hair, which symbolizes fertility, prosperity, and the thriving of crops. Her hair represents the plentiful harvest that sustains the Norse people, thereby emphasizing her role as a goddess deeply intertwined with agriculture and the earth. The tale of her golden locks, sheared off by Loki and then restored by the dwarves, underscores the importance of her beauty and the restorative power of nature. Even though Sif's individual narratives might not be as well-documented as some others, her role as Thor's wife and her place in the pantheon of gods highlights her unmistakable significance within Norse mythology.

Speedbuilding for Ukrainian comunity contest. After I've built windmill and Dwarf gates, there are not so much details left. So its very simple MOC
I think that before I continue with the story, I should explain why the lads are going through so much trouble to return “just a bastard”. You see, in Edoria it doesn’t really matter if you are a bastard or an official son, you’re still the son or daughter of a nobleman ( this is called the “it’s your problem, you fix it” way). The only difference lies in the line of succession. A trueborn child always comes before a “half son”.
“What are ya goin’ to do when we get home” Thirn asked. “I dunno.” “We will probably be enlisted in the army of some jarl.” Martin said while they wandered through the woods, looking for some game. “Well I’m goin’ to buy a nice barrel of fine dwarfish ale and drink that we made it out alive and to honour the gods”. As they walked through the trees, the ranger suddenly stopped. “What’s wrong?” Thirn stopped next to him. “You hear that? Horses and voices.” “Merchants?” “Perhaps, only one way to find out.”
The two sneaked into the direction from which they heard the noises and they found out, that they most definitely did not belong to some peaceful merchants. “Redcoats” Thirn whispered. “Aye” Martin confirmed “Redcoats with horses, which would be very useful to us.” “Aah, now yer talkin’ lad, how much of ‘em, ya think?” The ranger became silent for a moment, counting the Ilirani “There are about 40 of them. And I see a lot of spears, so it are probably fresh, untrained recruits who haven’t got the money yet to buy anything else.” “We can take that, easily.” “yeah, if you get the others, I will stay here to observe. Also take my mail, with you, I would be much more comfortable with some body protection.” “Sure lad, consider it done.”
While Thirn rushed back to the campsite, Martin staid where he was, observing the Ilirani, hoping to get some information about troop movement and stuff like that.
About an half our later (the campsite was a few miles away.) Celdric emerged from the bushes and a some time later, all six sad next to each other hiding behind a few ruins. “So what do we do?, wait until sunset?” “That would be a very bad idea I think. I’ve been listening to them while you were busy getting your lazy arses up here. Apparently they stopped here to wait for a much larger group of men. Makes sense, why else would you stop traveling on the idle of the day.” “Soooo…, we’re just attack now?” Martin nodded “If we want those animals, we’ve got to do it now.” “The regular technique?” Celdric proposed “What is the regular technique?” William asked “Well sir, Roger said, that is the technique were we shoot the enemy, and when they get very close, we stab the with our blades. We usually use it with great success!” “Sounds good to me.”
Martin and Celdric quickly strung they’re bows and the others also checked their weapons on last time. “Ready?“ Bohort asked “Ready” the others responded. “Let’s roll then.” Martin jumped from behind the wall and started unleashing his arrows, Celdric did the same thing on the other side. The poor Ilirani recruits had no idea what was going on and before they knew it, 10 men lay on the ground, never to step up again. The captain was the first to recover and immediately started yelling orders: “AMBUSH!” “GET YOUR WEPONS!” “FORM SHIELDWALL!”. While Martin and Celdric continued to rain death on the Ilirani, Thirn felt neglected “I’ve had enough of this, BY NODON!” Honouring the god of war while charging, with William and Bohort close behind him. A that time, a few men had responded to the orders and joined together in a tight formation and started to advance, protected by their shields. Unfortunately for them, a shieldwall won’t protect you from an angry dwarf. Thirn, holding his shield in front of him like a battering ram, smashed into the formation and shattering it. This quickly resolving in hand to hand combat. While they were busy doing that, Martin saw that the captain was still rallying men from the tents. His hand went over his shoulder, only to find an empty quiver. He couldn’t ask for Celdric to take care of it, for he was dealing with some crossbowmen and Roger was bombarding some spearmen. Swearing, he threw down his bow and pulled his sword and charged. The captain saw the danger coming and put up his shield to block the blade and swung his back. They continued like this for a while until the Ilirani suddenly stumbled over a rock. The ranger took the opportunity and trusted his sword into his opponents throat. When his men saw their leader dead on the ground, their morale dropped. The few men still alive laid down their arms, some fled, some just stood there. “What are we goin’ to do with the lot?” Thirn asked “we’ll just they them up I think, we ain’t monsters, they ain’t going to starve, cause their friends will be here soon to free them and we will be long gone by then.” William said. “Aye, ROGER, WE’RE GONNA NEED SOME ROPE, AND LOTES F IT!” The Ilirani weren’t particularly willing to be tied up at first, but when the Edorians explained the alternative, they suddenly where way more willing. After everything was literally all tied up, the Edorians left them where they were ant mounted the horses.

Schildmauer mit (geschätzt) ca. 300 Jahre alter Kiefer. Die Mauer ist rd. 15 Meter hoch.
The shieldwall is about 15 meters high and the pinetreee is (estimated) more than 300 years old.
After weeks of advancing into enemy territory, they had finally reached it: the last outpost by the Fangroth River that now ran as a bleeding wound through the Loreesi supply lines. Every bridge, every military camp and every watchtower along the broad river that bordered the Western Desert’s northern end and reached Lake Genava just south of Meio de Aldeia, had been raided. A few of the more important or easily defended ones had been left behind with a small garrison ordered to harass the Loreesi even further, while other fortifications as well as multiple bridges had been sacked and burnt to the ground. As Lokiten’s scouts began reporting how gradually larger opposing forces were moving northwards to engage his army, he resorted to pressing swiftly forwards, never spending more than one night in the same spot.
And now, they stood at the doorstep of the great lake that was their destination. Peering over the heads of the soldiers around him, Lokiten stopped for a moment to estimate how the battle was faring. After breaking down the gate in the palisade that surrounded this last, imposing tower, his men were now successfully pushing back the defenders.
To the side, barrels of animal fat and a barrage of flaming arrows had set the barricade alight, leaving the Loreesi soldiers behind it exposed to the smaller detachment of Lenfels that were had just begun storming their position. A quick glance at the mantlets to his right told him that the archers were doing well at both attracting and subduing Loreesi counterfire, and from what the latest messenger had relayed, the diversionary attack carried out from multiple smaller fishing crafts was successfully spreading the defenders thin as well.
A sharp cry of alarm shook Lokiten from his thoughts, and quickly glancing around to find the source, he saw a sudden new threat: coming towards the busily engaged Lenfels was a large, trampling host of the famed Loreesi cavalry. The Lenfel commander shook his head in bewilderment and hurriedly pushed his way through the mass of struggling men. No truly dangerous force was supposed to be within a day’s ride of the tower, yet here they were. For once, his scouts had missed something this crucial, and it could well cost them everything they had gained. Stuck in the middle of the fray, he could only watch as the mass of horses and men in armour closed in on the exposed flank of his forces.
Just then, he spotted Sir Feann of Ainesford, an officer recognisable by the golden decorations on his shield, who was pushing, beating and hammering together a steadily growing group of infantry equipped with the multipurpose Lenfel swordstaffs. Feann slowly managed to gather his men just behind the outermost flank, where they remained hidden behind the thin line of nervous, disorganised light infantry. As the advancing cavalry drew closer, the officer loudly issued a number of short, curt commands, and the swordstaff-wielding soldiers pressed through to the front row, quickly forming a solid shieldwall.
Confidently charging towards the apparently helpless, confused Lenfel footmen, the Loreesi knights suddenly found a concrete, disciplined row of deadly swordpoints facing them. Feann had timed his movements perfectly, and Lokiten grinned in relief and spitefulness as another group of Lenfels fanned orderly out to the side from behind the first. Too close to slow down or turn away, the cavalry hit the initial defensive line, which buckled and waved but held its ground. The trap sprung as the Lenfel officer aimed his sword towards the knights’ flank and loudly gave the order to advance.
Caught between the two rows, the Loreesi charge came to a sudden halt as the long swordstaffs removed any advantage the horses had given. Furthermore, the increasing numbers of unhorsed Loreesi knights were struggling to stay on their feet in the heavy armour, and became easy prey for the lighter equipped Lenfels that steadily closed in on them.
Satisfied that the problem had been dealt with, Lokiten grabbed a nearby man by the shoulder and ordered him to relay the turn of events to the other Lenfel units. Reminding himself of rewarding the Ainesfordian for his prowess as a commander, Lokiten once again turned his attention to aiding his men in storming this final obstacle.

After working on-and-off on this for quite a while, my GC4 entry is finally finished!
I was assigned to Loreesi Brick Juggler's cool LC9 entry, Test of Tower, which was very fun recreating. I decided to take some artistic liberties while still keeping the characteristics and general upwards receding, mountain-esque appearance of the keep. I also added a palisade to beef up the size a bit.
UPDATE: Other angles are listed here along with closeups. It's a pretty complex build, so I really recommend giving them a look:
If you want to see a closeup of something else, please tell me. I plan on keeping it together for another two days or so before moving on :)
Freyr, known as the Sovereign of Abundance, is one of the most revered gods in Norse mythology. A member of the Vanir, the gods associated with fertility, prosperity, and peace, Freyr is the god of sunlight, rain, and the earth's bountiful harvests. He governs over the cycles of life and growth, ensuring the well-being of both nature and humankind. Freyr is also the protector of peace and the bringer of joy, revered for his generosity and the blessings he bestows. His symbols include the golden boar Gullinbursti, which represents his connection to the earth and fertility, and Skidbladnir, a ship that always has favorable winds, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. Freyr's influence is vital in maintaining harmony in the natural world and among people, making him a beloved deity in the Norse pantheon.
