I haven't identified this shield bug yet, but I just love these strange little creatures. I saw several on holiday in Dorset recently.
The first data file in what will hopefully be many!
You can check out the complete database over at the MBU wiki: marvelbrickfilmuniverse.wikia.com/wiki/S.H.I.E.L.D./Data_...

So at last I can reveal the shield generator! However I have a confession: It's only half a shield generator. And at that, the two rings I have built are only finished on one side. It will take many more Bricklink orders to complete. I added some flames to suggest the empire at in the middle of destroying it! I hope you enjoy what I've done so far. I'll be displaying it at a show in Ireland next weekend.

There are times when I just shut out lots of things. Especially when I am unwell. I don't have physical activity to turn to and I'm too tired to "fake it" with the outside world. Then it's just me, music and all the various muses in my head.
Sometimes, just sometimes "I wake up, it's a bad dream, no one on my side; I was fighting but I just feel too tired to be fighting ..." When that happens, I put up the shield. If there is nothing positive, then I shut out the negative. I know the people who care are my silent pillars of strength. They are there. Just knowing that is enough. The Darkness is not overwhelming; I can still breathe ... Sort of. But it's lurking. Just the awareness that The Black Dog Bitch is still hanging around is enough. I've learnt that I can never out-run her - she can run anybody down.
Awareness alone is like a huge weapon.
aka a 'Stink Bug'
I mostly see green ones in my garden, BUT this is the first one of this type that I have seen.
According to my RSPB 'Wildlife' book, it is deffo a Shield/Stink bug, and it looks most like a PENTATOMA RUFIES, the 'Forest Bug', but it might be something else?
Update - Confirmed as a 'Forest Bug' on 'SEEK' - my new app on my phone, except that the Latin name is given as Pentatoma RUFIPES, which is slightly different to the RSPB book. However, I will be happy with 'Shield Bug'!!!
The Herd Groyne lighthouse at the mouth of the River Tyne.
In the background is Tynemouth; the setting for many scenes in the Vera TV series. If you believed what you saw on TV, you'd think Tynemouth was a hotbed of crime. Obviously, I couldn't possibly comment.
Image best viewed by pressing 'L' and closing your eyes. Very tightly. 😁
"Strobilanthes dyeriana (Persian shield) is a tropical plant native to Myanmar. It is grown for its dark green foliage with bright, metallic-purple stripes radiating outward from the central leaf vein. In proper conditions, it will also produce pale purple flowers. Persian Shield grows best outdoors in USDA zones 9 and 10, although it can survive in other zones as a houseplant given sufficient temperature, soil moisture and humidity. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit."

This SHIELD Helicarrier had been built for two years! It is one of the largest creation I ever built. It is 140-cm long, 80-cm wide, more than 20kg weight, and piece count over 15 thousand! This record is really difficult to break for me, but still hope I could make another record in the future.
Before moving the Helicarrier to the new place for display, I took it to professional studio shooting. When I finished it two years ago, it is in a hurry to not take a good shot with this Helicarrier. Really sad at that time, but I'm glad I can do it this time!
At that time, I spent one and a half month to build it, and burned the midnight oil almost every day! Although when I finished it, there are still some small faults to be taken care. However, it is like an exam with a time limit, done is done.
Review the progress of this creation, I had used several new building methods(to me) on it, like the decks of the carrier, I use the SNOT method to build the pattern of fighter guide mark, which build parts laterally; The structure of the hull is made by technic parts to provide light and strong support to whole creation, and then use a lot amount of plate parts to create the curve shape of shell of carrier. What's a worth to be mentioned, the carrier is only supported by two thin yellow column also made by technic parts; The last feature is to build this creation in dot figures scale, which figure is made by two round plates, also including the Quinjets on the deck. Moreover, checking the deck, you can find out there are Avengers over there!
Finally, acknowledge the assistance of my friends in this project: Sheng-Fong Chiang who supported this project, 謝政宏 who helped me build it during progress, and Hsinwei Chi who helped me to make these great shots!

Australian Naval support vessel Ocean Shield is currently (12 April 2014) heading the search for MH370.
Captain America's shield is physically indestructible under normal conditions; while cosmic and godly opponents have broken his shield, the shield proves strong enough to absorb Hulk's strength, and repel an attack from Thor's mystical hammer Mjölnir without any visible damage, and in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the shield is also shown to be able to cushion falls from great heights. Cap's Shield is also able to absorb all kinetic energy and transfers very little energy from each impact, meaning Captain America does not feel recoil or transferred impact forces from blocking attacks. These physical properties also means the shield can bounce off of most smooth surfaces, ricocheting multiple times with minimal loss in aerodynamic stability or velocity.
You can see Captain America, and his shield, at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in New York's Times Square. It's a great place to visit for locals and tourists alike!

The Golden Shield lichen, Xanthoria parietina!
Rather than a single organism, this lichen is a close partnership between a fungus and a green alga. They grow together, so they look like one individual.
This species is yellow because of a pigment called parietin, which protects the lichen from harmful UV light rays.
Specimens growing in the shade can be much less bright - almost green - because the lichen only produces enough parietin to protect itself from too much light entering its inner layers.
