Kōen (公園) is Japanese for public park, and Shiba kōen is both the name of a park (once quite big, now preserved in smaller enclaves among the modern buildings) and an area of Shiba (named after said park). So this is Shiba kōen in Shiba kōen.

This Shinto shrine has a rather modern feel to it - the torii is made of concrete, and the main building is situated on top of a parking garage! But it has a long history, it was actually founded in 1005, making it one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Tokyo, and is dedicated to the two main gods of the famous Ise Daijingu: Amaterasu and Toyoukeno. Today the shrine is popular for weddings and its 11-days long festival in September.

of the japanese breed Shiba
They are very sweet, especially to children, and do not bark. They are just a bit wilful 😊

Shiba in typhoon weather - we were just at the edge of the storm and it made for some quite dramatic pictures, but it was also a bit scary to be honest (and the first typhoon I've ever experienced). You don't really see the down-pour here (I was under an umbrella when shooting this), but if you look at the street lamp furthest to the right you get some idea!
I spotted this cute little Shiba resting on the bench yesterday. He was full of characters! I quickly took this shot with my Fuji DSLR.
This was one of those scenes that replayed in my mind time after time as we walked back to our hotel each day, waiting for that perfect lighting. I found it on the last day of our trip.
A massive thank you to everyone who looks, likes and comments on my pictures its very much appreciated.
