I am always excited to get any shot of these beautiful little Azure Kingfishers. I knew this one was in the area, but I was thrilled to have it land right in front of me in the lakeside reeds. They usually perch on open branches of trees overhanging the water, so it was a surprise to have it land here. This was taken alongside Lake Victoria, right in the busy heart of Shepparton in Victoria.

I actually thought I had already posted this little guy, but a quick check back through my stream showed the same bird, but in different settings.

Produced by Bombardier locally here in Victoria, are the trains that run from Shepparton to Melbourne. Named VLocity trains, which might be a more relative term, to the old trains used, more so than any comparison to a Japanese bullet train, the new trains where a quantum leap forward compared to the old ones.

The train trip takes around 2 hours and 41 minutes and the cost of regional fairs has been reduced to a capped full fair daily rate of $9.20, regardless of where you may go. Which for Australia is amazing value.

Swallows found at Lake Victoria in Shepparton Australia, and urban wetland that is quite a hot spot for bird and animals. It has a tar or bitumen footpath walk that surrounds it, and makes it a very pleasant walk.

This display of Australian beer cans is part of what is on show at a motor museum in Shepparton which now goes by the name "MOVE" which stands for Museum Of Vehicle Evolution. It is a great place to visit and as you can see, is not just about cars. There are many varied displays including a section dedicated to the very Aussie Furphy water cart. Not just worth a visit, but worth a Google too.

I never did check to see if they were full or empty! I do recognise many of these instantly (sadly) but there are some unusual ones in there including the Ettamogah Pub ones on the bottom shelf. This small section of the display was probably only one eighth of the whole wall of cans.

Cropped and over saturated for an extra splash of colour - it is Slider Sunday after all!

Every single time I am lucky enough to visit Shepparton in Victoria, I am also lucky enough to see this little guy in Victoria Park Lake in the heart of town. Sometimes I have to hunt for half an hour, but it turns up sooner or later as it does the rounds of the lake shoreline.

A candid of some people at the back of the SAM Shepparton Arts Museum. Situated by Lake Victoria (The Lake).

Taken near Lake Victoria in Shepparton Victoria Australia. Correllas turn up in mass around this time of year to nest in the bushland that exists between the Cities of Shepparton , and Morroopna. Each year they come in to nest and raise their chicks breed and establish a social pecking order in the trees, and near by bush land. Highly animated and social, they prune the trees or damage the trees depending on your opinion, while they show of their abilities to each other and potential mates.

Taken at the intersection of Wyndham Street and High street, on a very fresh but sunny day.

Australian white ibis (Threskiornis molucca). I hope my identification and classification is right, feel free to correct me.

At the back of the Victoria lake in Shepparton Victoria Australia, you can find this foot path, or walk, it is not that long, but it is very special. Please note a longer walk, or bike ride, can be had, by crossing the bridge behind the lake, it goes to Morroopna.

PS if you want to get the light, as in this photo, go in the morning, as the side light on the Red Gums makes them pop. PS.PS this is photo is inspired by Ansel Adams, and it should be noted that it has been processed lightly in Photoshop, with corrections for both sharpness, shadows and highlights.

This dead tree can be found in the main Street of Dookie a small rural town near Shepparton Victoria Australia. The area is very pretty with rolling hills.

The tree has been modified with artificial blood red poppies in what l presume is a homage to the war dead.

It is quite striking.

Part of the fund raising for the Rotary Outreach Melanoma Program was a meal and a free pot of beer. It should be said that the Shepparton brewery has some wonderful beers : ) And it should be noted that both the artists, Rotary and the Hospital greatly appreciated the used of the venue for the raising of funds for the comunity chest.
