In Memory of all Railway Employees Who Gave Their Lives For Their Country" approaches Sharpstones Lane, Bayston Hill with the return loaded cement tanks from Penyffordd Cement Works back to Avonmouth Hansons Sidings. The train only traverses the Marches Line on a Sunday as in the week it returns via the Wolverhampton line

40082 passes Sharpstone Quarry light engine heading north. Looks like I was in a 'non standard position' shall we say! I remember having my lens trained on something else that was just about to round the curve heading south and this 40 thundered past from behind me!

Ohhhhh so lucky - Russell Davies and myself managed to get the class 60 with a well loaded steel train rounding the curve at Sharpstones Quarry in probably the only short spell of sunshine we had for the rest of the day

47370 about to pass Sharpstones Quarry c1983/4 heading south. This loco is still carrying the brackets for when it was once fitted for multiple working (is this correct?) one of only 2/3 I seem to remember.

Today it occurred to me that in 18 months I haven't photographed any main line steam other than LSL locos ( is this a record ? ).

The run of recent sunny days didn't last for the Saphos Welsh Marches Whistler, hauled from Crewe to Bristol by 45231 and 46100 as a positioning move for a series of trains in the South West.
