I met a young person had a superzoom camera gifted by his grandparents for his fourteenth Birthday, he had few months of practice and learning as we all do. He was already dreaming about getting 800mm f/5.6 prime setup with a high-end camera body. Good on him.

when he saw my setup; he was curious about a micro four-thirds format, focal length and depth of field etc..

by experience and bit of reading I knew, how easy to manipulate images using low of physics. It may only include walking a few steps closer or let your subject to come to you.

It took only about four new photographs for him to compare and learn on the field. The outcome of the conversation was, He was really thankful for his gift and never been happier about its reach, image quality, depth of field bla bla bla.

in my example here, other than they are taken the world apart from each other, settings were very similar except the Aperture Value.

Why did I shoot f/5.6 , why f/5.6 might be better for this subject?

After the treat spool had been emptied, Bei and Mei sit down together for a little boo

Bei reaching up high for the tender boo leaves

Bei wanted to sit closer to Mei to eat his boo, so he moved from the floor to the bowl ledge

While Mei busies herself with treats on the ledge, Bei attempts to tackle the big corn stalk

Remember Papa Tian having fun with this treat container on the 4th? Look closely and you can see all of the puncture holes and teeth marks at the opening
