A Solar Corona (Latin for 'crown') is an aura of plasma that surrounds the sun and other stars. The Sun's corona extends millions of kilometers into space and is most easily seen during a total solar eclipse, but it is also observable with a coronagraph. This photo was taken at the point of totality during the 8/21/2017 solar eclipse and clearly shows the solar corona extending outside the shadow of the moon. Normally, the corona’s delicate light is outshone by the bright photosphere or surface of the sun.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11
One of the few times I've ever tried to take a photo of an eclipse. Hand-held. The IBIS in Olympus cameras is incredible.
Editor's Note: an archive image from 2006. It's a dark and cloudy day here at Marshall Space Flight Center, with more snow in the forecast -- maybe that's why I selected this image today. :)
The shadow of the moon falls on Earth as seen from the International Space Station, 230 miles above the planet, during a total solar eclipse at about 4:50 a.m. CST Wednesday, March 29. This digital photo was taken by the Expedition 12 crew, Commander Bill McArthur and Flight Engineer Valery Tokarev, who spent a six-month mission on the complex. Visible near the shadow are portions of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea and the coast of Turkey.

Taken just after totality with the iPhone: horizon is still orange coloured and we see the dark shadow of the Moon moving further overland.

byjamierose: Oh shoot haha I meant those questions for the Halloween Party 🙈 sorry I should have been more specific haha i go to Disneyland all of the time but I've never been to the Halloween party
dailydisneyland365: @byjamierose No problem. Our personal favorite place to get Halloween edition treats is Jolly Holiday and Cafe Orleans for a variety of pumpkin flavored treats and custom made treats. The best place to meet Halloween characters for us is on Main Street U.S.A. and in New Orleans Square with Jack and Sally. A must do while Halloween lasts is to watch Halloween Screams and see the projections on the castle and it's A Small World and to linger around New Orleans and Haunted Mansion Holiday and Rivers of America at night for some nighttime spooks. Also for photographers like us ... Take. Fall. Photos. While. They. Last. Hope this helps!
byjamierose: Thank you!!! You're so helpful! And also you're a very talented photographer. Love your account. Thanks again

Two decades before MM Kaye published hugely successful 1970s The Far Pavilions, and long before the 1980s mini series, she wrote another story about the British in India called Shadow of the Moon (1957).
I was lucky enough to acquire this first edition copy of the book for almost nothing. The cover is one that i have never seen before, quite unlike the popular edition from the 1970s. Unfortunately, the spine cover is badly ripped but the front and back are okay.
