On our way back into Arley after our walk up the River Severn on what was a lovely warm and sunny day (02-04-2017). We sat and rested under some river side trees that cast some very welcome shade .I turned round to see the dappled light/shadows on these lovey stone buildings with the very bright Sunshine on the buildings behind......i liked it .....and still do.......Arley nr Bewdley,Worcestershire,England

While the horses were happy grazing out on the paddock they did like the shade under the lovely Gum Tree near the fence.
Grant, when my hour comes, that I may recognize you under the species of each alien or hostile force that seems bent upon destroying or uprooting me. When the signs of age begin to mark my body (and still more when they touch my mind); when the ill that is to diminish me or carry me off strikes from without or is born within me; when the painful moment comes in which I suddenly awaken to the fact that I am ill or growing old; and above all at that last moment when I feel I am losing hold of myself and am absolutely passive within the hands of the great unknown forces that have formed me; in all those dark moments, O God, grant that I may understand that it is you (provided only my faith is strong enough) who are painfully parting the fibres of my being in order to penetrate to the very marrow of my substance and bear me away within yourself. Saturday Self Challenge: Chiaroscuro / Light and Shade.
While the images in the gallery were inspiring, I found it much harder to photograph this week's challenge. I eventually settled on this one - not the best, but the best for this week.
Went on a country drive northwest with hopes of getting as far as Galena but only got as far as the Rock River and Rt. 72. ive been searching for fall colors but they are slim pickins. Found this small farm building under a tree that has pretty much reached its own personal peak in the color change. The way it shaded the building and framed it caught my eye.
Have a great week everyone :-)

When the love in your eyes I could see
When the voice that I heard, like the song of the bird
Seemed to whisper sweet music to me

Nothing scared Lliam. Except direct sunlight! Well, maybe people on stilts also. That was just weird, walking around on stilts. And, if they were dressed as clowns on stilts, Lliam was petrified. Otherwise, nothing scared Lliam!

This is Shade, one of the hummingbirds that visits us, and who pretty much made himself at home; he's very used to our presence and is very protective of the feeder.
