Coming into Ware from the south there was a filling station here, but one has to go back quite some time to when it last served fuel. The earliest Streetview shows a Gulf sign standing here but the site was already a hand car wash by then and the pumps had been removed. By the price of petrol on display it looks like fuel was last served here in about 2007. At first I thought taking photos showing the remains of the site more clearly would be a challenge given the fencing, but just beyond is a side alley and there the fencing wasn't covered in black sheets which allowed me to gain a clear view. I am assuming that the site is being prepared for demolition and new housing.

A former Total site. The view from here changed radically about seven years ago when all the flats seen behind were built. Chris Greene has images of this site when branded Total but unfortunately none that show how different it looked behind from this view. For that you'll have to look at Streetview.
