Today Will has been to the vets. There have been a few concerns that he hasn't quite been himself the past couple of days and last night we were concerned about his breathing. We booked him in to our vets this morning and it appears that he has got a bad cut on his tongue, which knowing Will may have happened in a little scuffle as in the past he has been affectionately known as a 'hooligan' as he has been known to raise a paw or two over the years. It also seems that he is suffering from some diarrhoea so he has had some antibiotics and is now resting in our isolation area so that we can monitor his diet better over the next week or so

 

This was the first time we have used our new cat carriers which we received the other day off our Amazon wish list and I have to say I think he was a lot more comfy in it, it was also nice as there is a small flap where you can get your hand in to help comfort them while they are waiting at the vets. So a big thank you goes to the kind supporter who bought these for us

Update on Will

 

Will's blood test results have come back and thankfully all looks alright with his liver and kidneys. Sadly though we still don't know what is wrong with him so we are currently going through the process of elimination. We work closely with our resident vet and will be in regular contact with them. Will is staying at the vets so that he can be monitored closely and he will stay on his drip and antibiotics until we know more

 

A big thank you to all of our supporters and followers who have sent Will such lovely and caring comments. They are much appreciated from us all at sfhfc at this worrying time

I am pleased to say that Will has been back at sfhfc for just over a week now since his visit to the vets. Early signs are promising although he is still having some diarrhoea issues. Here he was waiting in the kitchen for his dinner, only to be disappointed when he realised that it was only his sensitivity food which he is having at the moment.

Here is Will showing off his claws. Today we have had a good day at St Francis. All the daily chores have been done. All the residents have enjoyed a good fuss. I have been photographing the residents to try to get a good cover photo for our next newsletter issue in September. Most of the residents have had a claw clipping session which as you can imagine is more than a one person job. I have to say a big thank you to both Anne Marie and Nicky, two of our volunteers who between them really were the A-Team for claw clipping.

This is Will. He isn't always the most fussy of cats but the last couple of times that I have been at St Francis he has been following me about like my shadow so has enjoyed a bit of fuss through the evening. Will can have the odd moments with the other residents and I would definitely say that he is towards to top of the pecking order at the hospice. Although we all know that it's Zak who is the 'Top Cat'.

Update on Will

 

A while ago our Will gave us a bit of a scare when he had to spend a week at our vets. I am really pleased to say that as you can see he now appears to be back to his normal self. Will is rather a strong character and isn't one to overly want any fuss off us humans. He will occasionally grace you with his presence coming to sit next to you when your sat down on the sofa, but this will always be on Will's terms, not yours.

The Cats Whiskers Photo Challenge has now closed. A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has entered. We have had 375 entries in total.

 

1⃣ @ele_ and @sfhfc will choose 10 finalists between us.

2⃣ I will hopefully look to post the finalists early next week (I will aim for Monday).

3⃣ Once posted YOU will vote for your favourite & the photo with the most votes will win. Voting will be OPEN FOR 48 HOURS from when the finalist's photos are posted.

4⃣The winner will receive their 2012 photo calendar from @keepsy and @ele_ and myself will post the winning photo on our feeds.

We are looking into doing an on-line version but at the moment haven't got the resources or know how to do it. If you are interested ou can subscribe to our newsletter via our contacts page on our website .
