This is shot from near the end of the Zion canyon road, looking deeper into the narrows... the thing the drew me to capture this image were the rich colors reflected from beyond in the river before me.

Photographed using a Sigma Quattro H in SFD (HDR) mode with the Sigma 70mm Art lens, and a 10-stop NISI filter hanging from the front lens hood by a holder made for the 14mm lens...

Because each image in the seven exposure series was so long, some motion was bound to occur and sure enough a few frames of the longest duration show some movement. I used Aurora HDR 2019 to process, which did a good job of using a stiller image as a base and getting rid of much movement - it also did a nice job of rendering the reflection I was after when I took the image.

Self portrait, looking out at the lands beyond Candy Cliffs in Utah.

Shot with the Sigma Quattro H and Sigma 70mm Art lens, as an SFD (HDR) image. Resulting multiple images were processed using SPP as there was little to no movement, then further processing was done in Luminar - it helped clean up haze (a little - I liked the distant haze so mostly left that alone), and the dodge/burn tool it has worked quite well on the rocky areas.

Looking high up on the walls of Zion, trees perch atop a jagged wedge of rock on rock.

After trying various ways of processing this image, I decided what drew me to this image in the first place was the very angular rock seemingly jammed into the walls of the canyon - echoing that, a jagged shaft of light striking across the face.

As Jay Maisel once said, "Shape is the enemy of color" so once I realized the image was more about shape and texture, I decided to try a black and white treatment - even though the canyon walls are a gorgeous red, I think I enjoy the striking etched lines of the rock and the emphasis giant shapes even more.

Shot with the Sigma Quattro H and 150-600mm Sport lens. Taken as an SFD (HDR) image, although in the end the HDR may not have been strictly necessary it does make for a nice clean sky. HDR processed in Affinity Photo, which had a nice B&W conversion option for HDR - the Sigma Photo Pro processing left the trees moving too much (though I did have to edit in a single exposure of tress to help crisp them up form the Affinity HDR conversion).

mobilfotoskolan: Ruskigt snygg! Hur har du fått med blixten? Är det en app?

laylathis: This is so cool, I love the edit and the subject. Love it!

petrifredrik: @mobilfotoskolan tack igen! Visst är den en appblixt med fast form. Annars finns såklart appar med möjlighet att lägga in en bild på en eget tagen blixtbild i ett lager. Men tajma en blixt med mobilkamera… e nog svårt! ☺

American Bantam-Checker Motors Jeep prototype.

American Bantam, the company that tried to make a go of license-building Austin 7s, took a lot of that experience and applied it to their design for a Jeep which they teamed up with Checker to actually build. The Army took the design to Ford and Willys-Overland to put it into production.

This prototype has four-wheel steering, a feature that did not make it into production.

From the card:

In 1893, Waltham Manufacturing produced its first vehicle, the Orient brand bicycle. They entered the automotive field in 1905 with the introduction of the inexpensive Buckboard. The simple auto featured a natural oak body, bicycle style tires, tiller steering and a friction drive which required no shifting of gears.

Promoting the Buckboard as a car of "utmost simplicity" the company claimed, "even a ten year old can fully understand and operate it."
