Sewing workshop Trinity-Sergius Lavra. For almost seven centuries, since the foundation the monastery, the monks of Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra sewed vestments themselves. The founder of the monastery St. Sergius of Radonezh himself sewed clothes for the brethren.
The three spacious and bright workshops are working 20 talented masters. In collective treasure reputation. All are doing with a prayer.
The vestments manufactured in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, wearing Orthodox priests of America, Italy, Israel, Greece, Japan, China and other countries.

Here is the third capture taken for the Monday Macro Theme. This one is slightly farther back allowing for more of the fabric foot being in the frame ... but there (2) was at f/32 this one is at f/8 creating that pretty bokeh effect ... this may be my favorite (though there is a version (4) at f/13 that looks neat too, but that one will not get posted).
This coming Monday's Macro theme is cloth ... so I started thinking about some interesting ways to capture some cloths. I settled on getting the macro of the cloth in some sewing action.
This of course meant I would have to engage Mrs. Krach. First off this required me to enter her sewing room which meant I needed to get a 'Permit" to enter the space.
Do not want to mention the Red Tape needed to actually touch the new sewing machine ...
I then searched through some of the fabrics laying about, and this one with the blue cloth and sequins I imagined would make for some nice reflections and bokeh.
Given all the preparatory permits and permissions needed to set this up, I took a bunch of close in compositions at various apertures to play with depth of field. So will posting some variations to see which folks like the most before submitting the final one to the Macro Monday group coming up.

Of course I started adding swatch portraits to the wall above my sewing machine after seeing these at purl bee.
This is a vintage belt buckle that I found in an old box of buttons of my grandmother's. Less than 5 cm/2 inches across. I had hoped the drops would mask chipped bronze ;-))
The Laowa lens magnifies by two in this shot.

...i love this blue fabric soooo much! <3
My sewing days are long over but I still have odds and ends that remind me of what used to be. I never did get on with using a sewing machine , so dress-making and furnishings were a no-no, but let me loose on hand -stitched patchwork or hand embroidery and I was in heaven!
Now I can use my bits and bobs as still life subjects so I'm in a different kind of heaven with my camera ....
MacroMondays and "Sewing Notions"
You can see proof of size and the whole scene in my first comment. I hesitated about the focus point but the needle was the biggest challenge for me, so I used manual focus.
HMM!
Bunch of (wet) dresses for next update, Monday Dec 7 @ 16:00 CET.
I like that bit of pink among all the greyscale. Only it's really a warm grey. Odd camera behavior.
This project has kept me busy! I cut many strips of 3/4" fabric and wound them around clothesline and zigzagged it till it was the size I wanted. Finished size is 4x10". Very tedious but worth the effort.
Just found this in my archives from last year, this advice made me smile and cringe at the same time! The first paragraph has a good deal of common sense….
I had a Singer sewing machine much like this in my teens, it had belonged to my Granny and Mum so it caught my eye…
Seen at Brockhampton Estate last year.
Happy Thursday Monochrome 😀
The dunlin moves along the coastal beaches it prefers with a characteristic "sewing machine" feeding action, methodically picking small food items. Insects form the main part of the dunlin's diet on the nesting grounds; it eats molluscs, worms and crustaceans in coastal areas.
She's so cute~ I love that it turned out better than I thought it would!
I totally followed a pattern (dolly coordinates #2 + dolly dolly--thanks HLG!!) ... I wouldn't be able to do it without one o_0...
In fact, this was a photo shoot for Macro Monday and it is also a proof of the size of the Sewing accessory shot. My sewing machine is very small (17 cm) but it is very good and can also use batteries.
I hope you can guess what I photographed for Macro Mondays.

Have a "Happy Macro Monday"
and also a good start into the new week.🌸
Many, many thanks for all your views, faves and comments.
For this challenge we had to be creative with sewing notions. Once I received from my sister writing paper on which she had sewn threads. I loved that paper. So I thought to sew a leaf on colored paper. and this is the result. This leaf is about 5 cm.
Thanks for taking time to comment, fave and look at my work. I really appreciate.
Now and then I have to make an effort to repair a decaying bit of leather goods and this is the only tool I have at my disposal. My wife sews and has a full assortment of tools and machinery. However, for me to attempt to use her kit for some dirty old belt or suspenders would be asking for trouble.
Therefore I get by with this sewing awl that I've had for forty years. As you might guess from looking at the two stitches I started here the finished product usually looks as though it was done by a wandering drunkard. I used my 75mm square template to frame this image. This is a stacked image of fifteen frames, as I do with most of my macro photos, in order to have as much in focus as possible. Happy Macro Mondays and thanks to everyone that views, faves and comments on this picture.
