Lifetime Dream # 54 of my list of 155: I will have a collection of 1,000 guitar picks, showing the musical achievements in my life. I will collect red, green, and blue Fender abalone shell picks, placing them in a collector's binder with their number and what event the number represents.
Some of my dreams, this one included, involve collections of one sort. Day 3 of this year showed the collection of Guitar Strings, and Guitar Picks is another thing that I have enjoyed collecting over the years.
When I compose a song I keep the pick, when I perform a gig I have kept one of the picks as well. I keep them for anything that I would consider important. “Oh I practiced my scales today for thirty minutes so I’ll keep the pick I used…” Hardly. I will keep them for things and events that have very tangible memories with them.
It plays into the sentimental and nostalgic side of me. The simplest of things can have the most profound memories. I truly try not to collect things that will take up lots of space, like cars, boats, or dish washers in the front yard like some people.
Am I particular about what picks I use? Absolutely. When you find something that works- use it and keep with it. I use only Fender Hard Abalone picks in red, blue and green. They’re awesome, and I really don’t deviate from them, except occasionally with an acoustic guitar and I’ll use medium strength… but yes they’re still red, blue or green Fender abalone shell!
Lifetime Dream # 128 of my list of 155: I will learn to play "Summer Song" flawlessly on the guitar by Joe Satriani, completing one of the songs that inspired me, paying tribute to one of the artists who inspired me as well.

I featured the song “Cliffs of Dover” by Eric Johnson as one of the most influential songs in my life… this is yet another influential song. When I first heard it I was just moved and amazed at the talent used in the song. You can’t help but be moved and inspired when you hear the song.
This took quite a while to nail down, and it was not easy… maybe for him it is, I don’t know. I got to see him perform this song live which was just as amazing (if not more so)… Joe’s a musical genius in my book!
I recently talked to a friend about the way I play guitar. He did not believe I play with three fingers. I try playing with two fingers every once in a while but it never works for me.

I decided to remove that awful plastic finish from my Washburn guitar and reshape the headstock. I liked those small burn marks I made with heat gun so I decided to further burn the body and headstock. After that I used soldering iron in order to distress the body and headstock even more. Than I fine sanded body and headstock and applied tung oil finish. Also I couldn't resist not to distress the bridge and the knobs...

John's set on this beauty of a seven string guitar was cut short via a level problem that did not occur during sound check. His versatility in making use of the range of the tones on this guitar fully utilized, full bass sound, rhythmic elements, lead, singing and great harp playing on top of it all. A self taught artist who started playing out on Bourbon Street @ age 16.
Certainly a master of the guitar and plays a totally mean harp too.

Periphery was formed by guitarist Misha Mansoor in 2005. He slowly gained a reputation on the internet, primarily via a regularly updated Soundclick account, Meshuggah and John Petrucci forums, and the sevenstring.org message boards. Before and during Periphery's tenure in the metal scene, Mansoor developed a reputation for doing his own audio production, the majority of which was performed with a home computer and a Pod XT during this period. Mansoor has continued to update his personal project, Bulb, which preceded Periphery, often transferring songs between the two projects. Mansoor continues to be involved in a number of other musical projects, including Haunted Shores with Mark Holcomb, Being (a space-prog metal outfit), and Of Man Not of Machine with Elliot Coleman (Sky Eats Airplane) and Holcomb

The strings aren't actually vibrating... it's... coma, I think. I like the effect though.
