Though the door to the milk house is ajar, the productive days of this dairy barn are relegated to odd jobs of storing things unrelated to its original purpose. We reach a point in life too quickly when what we will be remembered for in this life is pretty well set with no chance to do things over.
Looking east from Mogshade Pond nr Minstead, new Forest National Park
Well this wasn't what I was expecting when I set off at about 04:30am to go and shoot some heather with the hope of some mist. I went to Bratley View to see what was going on and was pretty disappointed as when I got there not a hint of mist and no obvious shots 'near' the parking area as light was flat and I could not spend long as had to get to work. I thought I'd go scout the area around Mogshade pond on the other side of the road whilst I was there.
Started shooting but light remained mostly flat with the odd burst of light when the sun briefly found a gap in the clouds.
However, across to the east there seemed to be some light coming through and when I glanced back the next time a small area of the landscape was really kicking off!
I quickly banged on the 70-200mm lens and forgot about heather and just started snapping away. It was just a few mins then the sun rose a bit too high but for those few mins the mixture of light generating the heat to create the mist was fabulous to see. It was no more then a few degrees on the horizon but the power of the zoom really brings the image to life. Wished I hadn't left the 100-400mm in the car!

I've been seeing a lot about Sunday mornings on Flickr recently. For my family, however, it's all about weekend evenings.
A wild and windy hour or so watching nature's fury. There was a beautiful big sea running yesterday , I managed to find a high dry ledge and watch the display. I always love the fact that the Herring Gulls are always in every photo, they must continually just work their way along the cliffs. I guess it's less energy consuming than trying to stand up on the cliff tops, perhaps they're riding out the storm. Set me free is by The Sand Band.I'm not sure whether to go in to Cardiff today, I don't really need any more presents but may go in for a. walk around.
In this shot, it wasn't really so dark. The sun was still in the sky and I'd taken the exposure right down to better capture it's beautiful glow through the roof of the glasshouse.
This is a merged image of 3 sets of HDR. Since the low fog changed rapidly and HDR can present its 3D effect. Lake Kawaguchi Bridge is showing in the fog.
