I've added another Slug to my home network, but at this time I patched up with Debian rather than Unslung.
It's incredible how such small low cost network storage device can be so versatile. Thanks to the Linux/Hacker community.

This is the main page of my Newton web server running NPDS displayed on an iPhone. The circular technology references are staggering. Here is a photo showing the same page zoomed out.
One of the scenes in and around Chicago during An Event Apart.
added the metadata controller and metadata replica and a new filemaker server.
Making plans to remove the other servers and set up another RAID and create another SAN.... with a XtraByte 16G LTO over fibre.
I know it's a bit of a crappy photo, but I like it, and at the end of the day that's all that matters. :-)
I am really quite attracted to white ironstone ware. Especially teapots and coffee pots and square plates....Tonight while I "listened" to HOUSE on TV, I decided to try to paint one. I see such gorgeous white pottery painted, and I know I didn't use many colors in this like those I've seen, but I thought it turned out pretty well for my first. I've got lots of the blue transfer-ware from England too, which I really love. Don't be surprised if you see more of this type composition from me. It was lots of fun to paint things I love... Again, thanks to Cathy (Kate) Johnson for showing me that drawing the sketch with a watercolor pencil is wonderful!!
Custom designed server racking from our former hosting business. Our own design, created for maximum space usage (paired servers back to back inside a deep rack), low cost and weight (server cases are expensive and bloomin' heavy). Centralised power supplies (one front, one back) putting out 12V to each server for better efficiency. Decent airflow too. We closed the business down towards the end of 2010, and our only real regret about that was having to retire this lovely setup.
Photograph background made from polystyrene sheets taped together, plus desk lamps for a pretty decent mini-studio :)

Take one old server.
Attack with screw driver and hammer late on a Friday afternoon.
The result is a stylish bookshelf. I'm currently in negotiations with Ikea to produce more. ;)
I was in the server room shooting some other shots for some upcoming ads and did this as a last shot. Makes the whole setup look more impressive than it is in real life, and its reasonably impressive on a regular day.
So neat and tidy.
Shot with a 20D, an EFS 10-22mm, a 430 EZ and a 285HV. This is a composite of 3 different photos that placed the flashes in different areas.
This is my HP MediaSmart server setup.
At this point the MSS has 2x500GB + 2x1TB WD Green drives, and the TR4M-B also has 2x1TB WD Green drives. The WD MyBook is not part of the MSS drive pool for now, but has an extra terabyte of storage available "just in case", lol :)
cables swirling into the switch in a server rack at nbc. even their cables are peacock color themed.
It is almost time for Smugmug to close down Flickr for maintenance so that they can perform the mammoth task of transferring every single thing on Flickr to a new server. Hard to imagine, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the transfer all goes smoothly. There will probably be a few glitches to iron out afterwards, but these will no doubt eventually be fixed.
The day before yesterday, 19 May 2019, I was out for the day with my daughter, to celebrate Mother's Day and yet another birthday for me. I always look forward to a day like this - my favourite way to spend a day! I hope she enjoyed it as much as I did. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy and windy, especially when we went to Frank Lake after spending time at the Saskatoon Farm. We both still managed to get a few photos and, today, the colourful ones are most welcome, as we have yet another gloomy day. I think it must have rained again last night, as I can see there are puddles out there.
Our day started with a delicious breakfast at the Farm, after which we walked around the grounds. I always enjoy seeing the farm cats and dogs wandering about, inside and outside. Visitors are not allowed to bring dogs, which means that the farm animals can roam in peace.
The gardens have not yet been planted with flowers - just as well, as I noticed that there was a risk of frost on two recent nights. There are flowers blooming in the greenhouses, though.
Our next destination was Frank Lake, where we hoped to see at least a few birds. It was very quiet, with little to photograph - not the best time of the day. Two Eared Grebes were swimming near the blind, but what a challenge they were! Non stop swimming and constantly changing direction, fast. I think I ended up with a couple of photos that might be sharp enough to post - the rest have been deleted. A Yellow-headed Blackbird, perched on a cattail, was swaying in and out of the viewfinder.
It felt really good to get out, as I have been spending so much time going through all the images from our trip to South Texas. It did feel a little strange to be driving, as I have barely been out the last few weeks.
The Server rack is gettting occupied by DELL components! The fantastic high performance DELL PowerEdge will be installed to enable smooth office operations for rocket scientists ;-)
