today i received some CPUs by mail (not insured, not nothing and on the outside it said what it contains, two Xeons including value... it's a miracle they arrived! (well, or my mailman isn't a geek, which is quite possible)...

 

these are for my second server, so in total, my website will run on four (old) xeons... four cores! ...eeeerm... ;-)

I'd been following the server gzip status of ColdFusion for years, but it was only recently that ColdFusion supported it well, and even then it took a few hacks to make it happen, but check out this weekly graph of network traffic after we enabled it.

 

Went from a 5-6Mbps average load to around 2.5-3 Mbps load average. This should theoretically make the server a tad slower to compress every page before it sends them out, but also the server should be overall faster as there is more bandwidth to move pages out.
