How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?
~Dr. Seuss
It's National Wattle Day here in Australia. September 1st marked as a special day to celebrate these plants, their glorious flowers and to ponder how lucky we are to call this country home.
The golden wattle (Acacia pycnantha) is Australia’s national floral emblem. It's a symbol of our country, our national colours that our sporting teams proudly display and it represents us all and what it means to be Australian.
These beautiful plants represent the coming of spring and resilience, given that they are able to withstand bushfires and drought.
Wattle (plants within genus Acacia), have bloomed across this land for over 30 million years. There are currently around 1000 different species of wattle, 900 or so of which are solely found in this country. A huge percentage.
I am not sure which species of wattle I came upon here.

“Ah, September! You are the doorway to the season that awakens my soul... but I must confess that I love you only because you are a prelude to my beloved October.”
Peggy Toney Horton
"It is a sad moment when the first phlox appears. It is the amber light indicating the end of the great burst of
early summer and suggesting that we must now start looking forward to autumn. Not that I have any objection
to autumn as a season, full of its own beauty; but I just cannot bear to see another summer go, and I recoil
from what the first hint of autumn means."

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago.... But didn't get around to uploading it at the time...
I had stopped here to take some photos of the lovely Sunset on my way home...
I haven't really taken many photos over the past couple of Months...
It's been Winter, and I've also had a lot of other stuff going on.
Anyway... I came across this cute little Sand Castle and thought...
How lovely to see that someone has been here building Sand Castles in the middle of Winter!
It was also nice to see there were others out taking a Winter Stroll on the Beach too!
Today marks the first day of Spring! %-)
Driving to work you could almost feel a change in the Air...
I'm looking forward to a brighter Month..
And hopefully more opportunity to get out with my Camera again! %-)
a heavenly sunset on september 1st....wishing u & urs a heavenly day...tks 4 flying by dearhearts

* Silver Lining * ~ song lyrics by David Gray
www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPNlsijWn0k&feature=related
Take this silver lining
Keep it in your own sweet head
Shine it when the night is burning red
Shine it in the twilight
Shine it on the cold cold ground
Shine it till these walls come
Tumbling down
We were born with our eyes wide open
So alive with wild hope
Now can you tell me why
Time after time
They drag you down
Down in the darkness deep
Fools in their madness all around
Know that the light don't sleep
Step into the silence
Take it in your own two hands
And scatter it like diamonds
All across these lands
Blaze it in the morning
Wear it like an iron skin
Only things worth living for
Innocence and magic-amen
We were born with our eyes wide open
So alive with wild hope
Now can you tell me why
Time after time
They drag you down
Down in the darkness deep
Fools in their madness all around
Know that the light don't sleep
We were born with our eyes wide open
So alive with wild hope
Now can you tell me why
Time after time
They drag you down
Down with talk so cheap
Fools in their madness all around
-Know that the light don't sleep
-Know that the light don't sleep
Time after time
They drag you down
Down in the darkness deep
Fools in their madness all around
-Know that the light don't sleep
-Know that the light don't sleep
One of my current morning vistas is the Grandview off leash dog park. Usually when I get there at sun up, no one else is there, but yesterday, there was a fellow with this big pitbull , walking down to the lower part of the park way ahead of me. Just as I was setting up my tripod for some bracketing shots, this dog turned around and came charging for me. The owner was screaming at his dog to come back, but it just continued running in my direction. I was wondering why this guy was so frantically screaming at his dog, maybe it was dangerously aggressive and that was why he came so early, expecting to have the park to himself. As the dog got closer, I got a bit of a adrenalin rush to add the the caffeine that hadn't quite kicked in. Mr. Pitbull slowed down just before he reached the spot I was claiming, and thankfully not lunging through the air for my throat, a scenario that flashed through my mind for just a split second, as I just stood there waiting, not quite awake. Then he gave me that, "got ya sucker" look as I nervously reached down to pet him and then he quickly proceeded to mark his territory as if to say.."this is my turf and I call the shots around here, but you're just some dorky flicker photographer, so go ahead and take your pictures."
Happy Hump Day!
Happy to be alive and not another pitbull attack statistic.

Day 19.
I must say this 365 series is becoming more like a confessional! I have never revealed so many things about myself and my life - and I'm really finding it quite helpful!
So today I'm discussing the disgusting habit of nail biting - one I've had since I was a child and am now really far too old to still be doing. It's an unconscious thing - I always aim to grow my nails and have done loads of times before - I like long nails and the option of painting them and making them look nice.
This is just something I can't seem to stop though. I think of it as a habit, but who knows? It could be a result of stress or boredom too. Or a combination of them all.
Today is the start of a new month - along with the continued weight loss I now intend to address this nastiness. No more biting!
We went to the annual Perch Peach Pierogi & Polka festival. The Eddie Rodick band from Cleveland was playing.
Another visit to Cedar Point amusement park, Sandusky, Ohio. These riders on the Millenium Force experienced a 300-foot drop and a top speed of 93 miles per hour. Although I've been to the park countless times since this giga-coaster was introduced in 2000, I've never ridden it.
Today marks the 50th Wedding Anniversary of my mom and dad.
Here they are on the big day in front of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Beamsville, Ontario in 1962
