dripping down the side of her peeling memory, as the last words are shoved into the dirt, ready for planting
in another season.
(she won't make it)
and now
it is all just discarded letters and numbers
and drying (and dying) leaves
with new hives on her arms
from cleaning up the (end of the year) flowers (words)
crushed inside a garbage bin
the aroma fading into the plastic that has years of
debris laced into its skin
waiting for Wednesday
to be carried away
(and tossed out)
with the rest of her words
because there will never be enough therapy
to fix
