When H.G Wells published his science-fiction classic
The War of the Worlds, we were seized by a global
fascination with extra-terrestrial life. The age of the alien
had begun. In All About Aliens, the truth about alien life
is revealed. From the origins of the alien concept from
ancient myth right up to our ongoing hunt for cosmic
neighbours in the modern day, this book is full of
information that will give alien enthusiasts or sceptics
plenty to think about.
Ever wondered what an alien would really look like? What
is the truth behind crop circles and UFO sightings? Is it
scientifically possible for other life to exist? Answering
these questions and many more, this book takes an
honest look at our bug-eyed green friends and distinguishes the sense from the pseudoscience in this easy-to-read book on aliens.
The All About series tackles those intriguing topics we all love to think about. All About Aliens takes a close look into that most fascinating
of question: are we really alone in the universe?
John Postgate describes this autobiography as essentially ‘a book about doing science’, and while it is an entertaining account of his life in the UK and abroad as he rose to international prominence in microbiology, it is also a book about playing and listening to his beloved jazz. Away from lab and lecture hall, Professor Postgate (brother of the late Oliver Postgate, creator of Bagpuss and the Clangers) has taken enormous pleasure in his hobby, playing cornet over the years with many musicians, some of whom became prominent names in jazz. His articles and reviews for magazines such as Gramophone and Jazz Journal have been as widely appreciated in jazz circles as his contributions to the understanding of certain key microbiological processes, including the sulphur cycle and nitrogen fixation, have been in the world of microbiology.
What exactly is the Human Mind? Unique in this entire world, yes, but how exactly does it work, what exactly is it made of? Where exactly is it? And the question the author poses is - is your thinking mind actually what the Bible refers to as your spiritual soul? And if it really is a spiritual soul, can it really survive mortal death? What force powers it? Just flesh and blood, or is there some other invisible divine force behind its incredible powers? The author confesses to having been born into this life complete with memories of several previous lives. It was after these previous lives that he also remembers being born, literally remembering being squeezed out of his mother’s womb! And if that is not amazing enough, he also truly believes that he can remember being conceived in his mother’s womb. A dramatic out-of-body experience has given the author confirmation that your id, your inner being and your purest spiritual form, can and will survive outside the-body, quite independently, without any body mass... The author was once a sailor on a Tall Sailing Ship and recalls drowning in the cold sea, and later, in another life, he recalls serving as a Solider in the First World War, and so is able to theorise how, when the time comes, one can cheat Death...
Monrovia Canyon Park is Monrovia's Backyard. Trees from this canyon were sawed in "Saw Pit" canyon and used in the building of the San Gabriel Mission. The last major fire was in 1924. This is a tale of a small group of people dissatisfied with life on earth and determined to start a different way of life. To ensure that no-one can escape the intolerable New World Order imposed on the Earth, even space travel has been forbidden - or, indeed, any venture into space. In reaction to this, the small band of adventurous people, mainly scientists, have come together to plan and work together to elude the throttlehold of a world dictatorship - in an isolated place, a desert no less, surprisingly, in a remote area of China! Secrecy, of course, is of the utmost importance. Will they succeed in building a spacecraft that will take them outside the earth’s atmosphere - and propel them to a new life of freedom and adventure, to a new world that they can seed to form a new earth where there are new heavens and new untethered ideologies? The book is a page-turner, not just on account of the impetus of the story, but because of the fascinating, yet believable technological innovations that emerge as a result of the lateral and collaborative thinking of the individuals concerned.

A hardcover collection of my photos, poetry and stories, written for Erin and Rand and self-published through Blurb.com.
A precipice haunted by a figure without a shadow; a young man’s obsession with a beautiful girl; an extraordinary tropical plant which turns out to need rather more than water and sunshine for nourishment; a dolls’ house whose occupants appear to be re-enacting the terrible events of the past. All these twenty tales of the extraordinary, never before published, contain subtle twists in the tail which will have readers on the edge of their chairs. Close to the Edge is a collection of finely-crafted tales in the tradition of Roald Dahl, Edgar Allan Poe, H G Wells and M R James. If you like short stories, read on.
With a documented history stretching back a thousand years, Dunster Castle on the Somerset coast is one of Britain’s oldest and most intriguing great buildings, its turrets evoking centuries of siege warfare, dark deeds, bloodshed and treachery. Dunster’s rich and colourful story covers more than nine hundred years of intermittent warfare. Only two families have owned and occupied the castle, from the Norman Conquest in 1066 which led to its construction right through to the 20th century; the second of these remained in charge for 21 generations and six hundred years. These families and their knights, some worthy of their shining armour, others less honourable, brought peace and warfare, treachery and glory to the castle in equal measure down the years. Author Jim Lee worked full time for the National Trust at Dunster Castle for 20 years. Few people are better qualified to tell its extraordinary story.
