I titled the book "Steam on Steel" but in my mind it will always be "A Week Too Late".
I had designed the book on my laptop, I showed my wife the layout and uploaded it to Blurb.com. She died on Feb 15 and the book arrived on Feb 19.
A week too late.

There are now three editions of The Halloween Retrospect for vintage Halloween collector references. Note again these are not visual survey books but instead articles on focused subjects via primary sources that include ~550 catalogs of consumer/vendor materials (1900-1979) as well as company materials across US archives (such as Framingham History Center for THR, V2 or Hallmark Archives for THR, V3).
THR, VOLUME 1 (June 2023):
With research pulled from the pages of nearly 500 catalogs (1900-1979) housed in one archive library, The Halloween Retrospect, Volume 1 is the first in a series of new guide books (in digest form) to offer critical perspective of the traditional narrative surrounding vintage Halloween markets, and by result offering important information to collectors in the field.

Shackman catalogs, E. Rosen cards, and certain German imports (see cover art).

The third volume of The Halloween Retrospect features a two-part article that first studies haunted house ephemera (early-20th-century to mid-century) and secondly features cards by Gibson and centerpieces by Hallmark as evidence of new paper collectible innovations The book also has small articles on the 60’s wave of sound effects vinyl and a list of catalog terminology.

My first ever zine. A mini, eight page art zine. Contains a poem, a tiny comic, a collage, and a bunch of doodles.
I finally got the sample copy back from Blurb and I have to say it looks pretty good. I have them up for sale at e50e.etsy.com to charge less for shipping.
This sixty-eight-page photo book focuses on the Kalamazoo region. It showcases the many local spaces I have visited with my camera over the past few years. I have features on bowling alleys, motels, and other unique landmarks in Kalamazoo County.
I used a number of cameras in the creation of this photographic collection including the Holga, Mamiya C220, Yashica Mat, Brownie Hawkeye Flash, Canon Rebel G 35mm SLR, Hasselblad and Diana toy camera. The book includes a camera index in the back to show the reader which camera was used to take each image.
Hardcover and softcover editions are available. The book is 7x7, full color, and printed using the Blurb.com online service. Delivery time is approximately 2-3 weeks.

Since Henry James there have been many impressions of an American abroad and we have become used to seeing the world ‘under western eyes’. But what about seeing the world from a very different perspective - not from the standpoint of an affluent westerner, or even an anglicised foreigner like Conrad, but through the eyes of an Iranian who has not had the privilege of taking freedom for granted. Iran itself comes under close scrutiny as the author tries to come to terms with daily life in a country where freedom of speech, freedom of movement, and freedom to wear the clothing of one’s choice does not exist. Imagine, for instance, visiting a tourist town for a holiday break and being picked up by the police because you are not a local, and then inadvertently finding yourself with a rope around your neck in a public execution? The book is a real page-turner as one follows the author’s frequent bids for freedom, finding himself repeatedly in a prison cell, punting across a turbulent river to enter Greece without a visa, finding temporary solace and comfort in the arms of a young prostitute in Bulgaria, suffering the indignity of being treated as a slave by the high-minded bosses in Japan, and running away from the regular police raids in Cyprus. But not all is doom and gloom - by no means, for apart from the author’s downright honesty, sharing and confiding his innermost thoughts, there is his irresistible humour that never fails to see the funny side in the events and the people that he describes. With its unique perspective of what it is like to be down and out, and sometimes affluent too, in Iran and the countries the author visits, this book provides an unforgettable experience.
