"My Affair With A Frost Flower State Of Affairs"
There’s a beguiling danger in beauty…
Seduced as I was by the fickle fingers of fate musingly stroking my hair,
I envisaged
this lusciously lavish landscape
of sun-raptured heavenly hills and valid valleys
to be a lush, plush place for me to land -
Alas, such deception my naive perception did offer.
Buried beneath the facade of a fertile dream-come-true
and a mesmerizing mirage of natural light and zephyrus breaths -
where your thoughts hugged the horizons of my mind
like clouds on the edges of prairie dog skies
and where your stampeding passions trampled my inhibitions -
were delicate bandeaux of ice;
fine spun and feathery like polar gossamer
that formed on the stems of your ruptured dreams
that then became my nightmare
when you had your hard freeze
while warm sap still flowed through your veins,
pumped and pushing through your broken being
and freezing on contact with the chilled clime
cocooning me, in a sudden silken surge of your glazing gauze
holding me, in the vivid wild magic of your frosted crystallized clutches -
fossilizing me, in icy opalescent ribbons of ornate whorls.
Unable to escape the grasping glacial petals of your exquisite pain,
your frost flowers plunged me into the frigid heart
of your bitter big-bluestem
prairie winter...
There’s a beguiling beauty in danger
hypnotized and hijacked
as I was by the rhythmic sways of your tall grass ways -
your flickering tongue tasting my air
as my emotions were extorted
till I was bled white -
obviously oblivious
that I was being preyed upon
by a stealthy force of nature motivated by indigenous instincts.

This series of intimate self-portraits has been a long time coming... it was my sister who was the "pretty one", the "thin one"... I grew up in her shadow... I was her little sister... never able to be mom's "favorite"... These are painful thoughts, years of feeling self-loathing... today I took these photos of myself with love & forgiveness, & thoughts of "I am beautiful"... chubby, but beautiful...
My heritage was my sense of myself as a "fat person"... not quite worthy of beauty & love. Feeling deep pains as I write this... but today is the day I fight back & say "It's OK to be fat"... It's beautiful if you feel beautiful inside, if you are loved deeply by a wonderful man & if you love yourself enough to forgive yourself for being "fat"...
I think these photos of myself are full of love & beauty... that's how I feel about [ME]... today.

Everyone, this is Sara! She is seriously such an awesome person, i believe it is impossible to have a bad time with her! We had so much fun with this shoot especially when it came to trying to figure out how to wrap that scarf around her face!
Anyways, she told me her favourite feature was her eyes. And even though eyes have been done 3 times already, it's ok, because it's not about different body features it's about favourite body features! Sara can't help that she has awesome eyes can she?

And an update on my Europe-travelling plans... is that there will be no more updates about my Europe-travelling plans. Yep, they fell through. I guess it just wasn't the right time to go. All is well though! Because I spent a good chunk of that money on my new Canon 50D with a 17-85mm and 70-300mm lens!
I got over it pretty quickly, I'd say.
Today Jessi came over for some Self-Love Project time! She said her favourite feature was her eyes, and even though I've already done eyes in this series, I was sooooo excited to take pictures of them! She has such a beautiful shade of blue in her eyes!
I know that eyes are a repeat favourite, but if they are your favourite feature... then they're your favourite feature. You can't just change how you feel about them :\
I don't mind, I love her eyes.
