I uploaded this selfie to illustrate that looks are wonderful but not everything, and one should not judge a person by their outward looks but what is inside of them.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

Lemme tell you about my best friend, she's selfless and beautiful and all around kind.
She would give you the shirt off her back in a second, and help you fix it when you tore it.
Lemme tell you about my best friend, the girl that stole my heart and helped me put it back together.
The girl who deserves the world but doesn't see it.
We were brought together by fate, two pieces of one person finally together.
Lemme tell you about my best friend, and how much I love her. I love her more than every planet and moon and star, I love her more than every atom and molecule. I love her more than every grain of sand. I will love her till the end of time and then some.
((I mean this OOC but it totally works IC too ILOVEYOUKAI))
So, let's just look forward with hope to 2021, And certainly we should give thanks to wonderful scientists ... and hardworking, selfless people ... worldwide who have worked to give us this hope.
We can sit and gaze at it for hours.
It's luminous, it's warm, it's romantic; but most of all it's spiritual. (In what way spiritual? We can't really say, but it is spiritual.) A yellow droplet of light, laced with red, bright-white at the edges, and blue at the core as if dirtied by its contact with the material wick. But we didn't see all those colors until we counted them -- the flame itself is a perfect, integral whole, emanating calm and tranquility.
How, indeed, can something as agitated as the flame radiate such peace? For the flame is a clash of forces pulling in opposite directions. Look closely: see how it strains upward, striving to tear away from the wick which tethers it to the candle or lamp and lose itself in the great expanses of energy that gird the heavens. But look again, and see how it clings to the length of braided cotton that spears its heart and supplies it with the fuel that sustains its luminance and life. Back and forth, up and down it strives, vacillating between being and naught, between presence and oblivion.
"The soul of man is a candle of G-d" (Proverbs 20:27). For the soul of man, too, is a clash of divergent forces and contrary strivings.
We yearn to tear free of our "wick" -- of the body that anchors us to the physical reality and sullies us with physical needs and wants. We strive upwards, yearning to transcend the physical, the human and the particular, and fuse with the universal and the divine. At the same time, we cling to the body, to the bit of matter that sustains us as dynamic and productive participants in G-d's world.
It is this perpetual up-and-down, this incessant vacillation from selfhood to selflessness and back again, that we call life. It is this eternal tension between our desire to escape the physical and our commitment to inhabit it, develop it and sanctify it that makes us spiritual beings.
We can sit and gaze at the flame for hours, because we are gazing at ourselves.

Veterans are the embodiment of courage and sacrifice, having selflessly served our nation with honor and dedication.
On Veterans Day, we express our deepest gratitude to these heroes, for they have not only served in uniform but continue to inspire us with their strength, resilience, and unwavering love for our country.
This photo is my recreation of the famous V-J Day in Times Square photo. Cla Jones and I worked for a few hours getting the pose right. She had the idea better thought out than I did. Then just as I was going to start adjusting the WL, my BD crashed. Thankfully I got a "test pic" in just before.
Anyway, this photo and others will be on display at the 17th Annual SL Veteran’s Tribute for 2023. The tribute will be open from November 1st through November 15th!

V-J Day in Times Square is a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt that portrays a U.S. Navy sailor embracing and kissing a total stranger[1]—a dental assistant—on Victory over Japan Day ("V-J Day")[2] in New York City's Times Square on August 14, 1945. The photograph was published a week later in Life magazine, among many photographs of celebrations around the United States that were presented in a 12-page section entitled "Victory Celebrations".

I spotted this beautiful family of Canada Geese & found out that some of these goslings were abandoned so they were adopted by this selfless mama & papa! How wonderful, I've never seen anything like this before!
Little River, Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee. Out of a lifting mist the water comes down, flanked and studded with perfect greens. It is pulled on a gradual gradient, and leaves a trail with each step, dragging a memory backward. The life of it's flow should be beautiful, but I find it a little cold, a little remote. Looking at the boulders, strewn and fallen in the flow, I think of my journey downriver. They are like pieces of me, broken off with each disappointment, each betrayal along the way. They stand like lessons learned, remnants of selflessness meets selfishness...bad decisions and weakness. They stand as a lesson to make myself harder, even if I don't want to be, because what is true in nature is not always true in me. But being true litters the streambed, back as far as I can see. If each had a name, they would stand as virtues lost, lessons learned. The perfect greens belie a bittersweet place; I'll leave it's beauty for another time.
"Ducks can seem a bit skittish sometimes."
"Oh, truly sir, as matter of fact, somewhat capricious, even with a dab of salt."
"Hector, your claims are worst than the very flyovers that you proclaim they are. Butter it up a tad and perhaps, the selfless of us all might have a fighting chance."
"Do you mean dimensionally?"
"Hmm... maybe... but in truth, I was more hoping for a trisket, that could carry the basket and supply a transcript so as no one would wonder nevermore, in the Poe sense, of course."
GRABBED THIS IMAGE, of this young man, living the life of a wartime pilot, while a real SPITFIRE circles around the memorial event at Capel-le Ferne near Folkestone Kent. This National Memorial is to the few dedicated airmen for their heroic and selfless deeds who won the battle of Britain, From the 10th of July to the 31st of October 1940. God bless them all, we shall never forget them.
===================
THANK YOU for your visit and friendship, hope you are enjoying the best of my old non-birding images.
Keep safe and well, God bless.......... Tomx
The young husky was swimming selflessly in the snow. However, when I turned the camera to him, the husky straighten up and began to pose positively. But he forgot to shake the snow off the tip of his nose... ;-) Such a serious attitude to the art of photography caused a smile from the spectators who saw this scene, but the husky remained unperturbed ;-)

Rus.:
I'm guilty of fleeing from my 52 weeks of BAM. Posting this self in reflection during a brief moment of bravery.
Good night!
For the beautiful things in life, this symbol in the foreground represents an absolute pursuit of something that should be everlasting. The sharp focus on the small details is also flawless, and the light is with us. It is a very mechanical explanation for something that should always nourish both people involved in a completely selfless way. What is meant is love, and describing it appropriately with words is always very flowery when actively feeling it. I love you, ma cœur Isa ❤️, and being able to experience so much with you and see you happy and content is my goal 😍

God's Utterance "God’s Work, God's Disposition, and God Himself I" (Part Four)
www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/gods-work-gods-dispositio...
Introduction
God’s word in this video are from The Word Appears in the Flesh.
The content of this video:
3. God Makes the Rainbow as a Symbol of His Covenant With Man
Almighty God says, "Even though God made a covenant with mankind using the rainbow, He never told anyone why He did this, why He established this covenant, meaning He never told anybody His real thoughts. This is because there is no one who can comprehend the depth of the love God has for the mankind He created with His own hands, and there is also no one who can appreciate just how much pain His heart suffered when He destroyed humanity. Therefore, even if He tells people how He feels, they cannot undertake this trust. Despite being in pain, He still goes on with the next step of His work. God always gives His best side and the best things to mankind while quietly bearing all the suffering Himself. God never openly discloses these sufferings. Instead, He endures them and waits in silence. God’s endurance is not cold, numb, or helpless, nor is it a sign of weakness. It is that God’s love and essence has always been selfless. This is a natural revelation of His essence and disposition, and a genuine embodiment of God’s identity as the true Creator."

Thank you for watching over me
All of the sleepless nights you lay awake
Thank you for knowing when to hold me close
And when to let me go
Thank you for every stepping stone
And for the path that always leads me home
I thank you for the time you took
To see the heart inside of me
You gave me the roots to start this life
And then you gave me wings to fly
And I learned to dream
Because you believed in me
There's no power like it on this earth
No treasure equal to its worth
The gift of a mother's love
Thank you for every sunlit day
That filled the corners of my memory
Thank you for every selfless unsung deed
I know you did for me
Thank you for giving me the choice
To search my soul till I could find my voice
And I thank you for teaching me
To be strong enough to bend
You gave me the roots to start this life
And then you gave me wings to fly
And I learned to dream
Because you believed in me
There's no power like it on this earth
No treasure equal to its worth
The gift of a mother's love
I thank God for a mother's love.

The words “Stand and deliver!” conjure up images of handsome, gallant gentlemen on well-groomed horses, their faces hidden by masks, relieving carriage passengers of their worldly possessions. It’s an idealized image of men who were oftentimes little more than robbers only looking out for themselves, but, oddly, it was an image that many highwaymen achieved even during their own day.For some reason, these men (and, occasionally, women) escaped the stigma that is associated with most criminals, becoming a gallant class of selfless individuals who robbed the rich to give to the poor. Unfortunately, the poor didn’t always figure into the equation.

It's dark in the morning. Only the lanterns
The road is illuminated for random travelers.
They burn, and from night to dawn
We are accompanied in the dark of the night.
They stand shivering from the cold,
And they give us light in the pitch darkness
And they also have a lantern soul in them,
Exhausted by hopeless sadness.
There is a lantern, and each of us
He accompanies with secret hope,
That we will come back, and more than once
Let's look at the lantern with a gentle smile.
Admit it to me, at least one of us
Have you ever thought about lanterns?
And he saved us from the darkness more than once,
Indefatigable and so brave.
It's dark in the morning. Only the lanterns
They selflessly illuminate the earth for us,
And what about the lantern in the shower inside
No one will probably ever find out.
Intelligent as heck, athletic as can be - kind, generous, selfless, fun loving & enthusiastic, loyal and reliable - successful at all he did . "In AUGUST 2020 we had to say goodbye to one of the most amazing souls to ever walk the face of this earth. Anyone who knows Rod will agree that he had a light in him that burned so bright and brought happiness to everyone around him. He was always someone who would give everything and ask for nothing in return. Rod packed a FULL life in the 35 years he's been with us. A rare type of cancer shortened his life, but with his upbeat attitude and heart of a warrior, plus his friends' support in so many ways, Rod was able to maintain a good quality of life over the last 18 months. Rod's warm memory will live on in each person he touched in the time he was here with us - and we will grin remembering him and the awesome times we shared. We strive to follow him in how he lived life and treated people. A 'mensch'. The world is a dimmer place as we lost one of our brightest stars. Rod will always be with me and I will always be with him. GodSpeed my friend." AMEN.
this picture is from my old and first babe dslr nikond40x... it's over 2 years old i think...
in the past 2 years i have couple of times came to tweak or post this shot...but i have at the last moments decided the other way...tonight i felt i should ...
I took this shot and couple others in my "dream is destiny" set together...it was a rainy afternoon this life boat was filled with water and the waves/weight made it lean to its left! it was incredible sky full of action... clouds of rage clouds of hope...
if i remember right i used 1 to 2 ND filter to block the light enough to prolong the exposure and obtain a smooth effect
A helicopter conducts an evacuation on the summit of Tryfan and takes off towards the West down the Ogwen Valley.
Taken back in October last Year whilst I was descending Pen Yr Ole Wen. My attention was drawn to the Mountain by the sound of the helicopter hovering around the summit and I managed a couple of shots before the helicopter made off.
It reminded me of my days engaged with Mountain Rescue and meetings at nearby Plas Y Brenin. The work of our Mountain Rescue Teams has increased significantly in recent times and their efforts often go unnoticed. It is often only in the face of tragedy and adversity we remember and fully appreciate their selfless efforts!
I had forgotten about this until I was going through my files and tidying up my images from 2020. I thought a mono conversion suited this better.

The selfless love, dedication, hope and direction she offers to those in need is inspiring. I sent her this print to hang on the wall at her place "choices".
The Oblation is a concrete statue by Filipino artist Guillermo E. Tolentino which serves as the iconic symbol of the University of the Philippines. It depicts a man facing upward with arms outstretched, symbolizing selfless offering of oneself to his country.
The only destruction is what we cause ourselves...
Okay, so not completely true, but still, we are more influential than we think. The words we say won't destroy our enemies, they will inadvertently destroy our friends. The unrest we take part in will turn into something bigger and more dangerous than we ever suspected. As you can see, we either can be the fireballs that incinerate a society or build it up into a loving environment. So be aware, thoughtful, and selfless. Don't accidentally bring the world to its end.
So, this creation wasn't originally going to be a firestorm, but my previous thing wasn't working well or looking good. So I changed it, and it looked better than I though it would. Unfortunately, the front buildings of the skyline are actually the lamest buildings, they got better as they got further away. Anyway, thanks for looking and God bless!
"All this is flashy rhetoric about loving you.
I never had a selfless thought since I was born.
I am mercenary and self-seeking through and through:
I want God, you, all friends, merely to serve my turn.
Peace, re-assurance, pleasure, are the goals I seek,
I cannot crawl one inch outside my proper skin:
I talk of love --a scholar's parrot may talk Greek--
But, self-imprisoned, always end where I begin.
Only that now you have taught me (but how late) my lack.
I see the chasm. And everything you are was making
My heart into a bridge by which I might get back
From exile, and grow man. And now the bridge is breaking.
For this I bless you as the ruin falls. The pains
You give me are more precious than all other gains. "

Before the month of September ends, i would like to greet a very special Flickr friend @Dia 777 a very (belated at that LOL) Happy Birthday.
Sweetie, you are one of the most inspiring, gracious and selfless woman I have come to know. I count myself lucky that even if we are miles apart we have become friends. You have and will always be a source of strength and inspiration. The simple "how are you?' when I was down was such a great comfort. I am forever grateful. Sending you my tightest hug...and of course Lara blowing kisses to you.
Again belated Happy Birthday Sweetie. :D Have a blast and wishing you happiness and all the best in the world.

To say that I am made in the image of God is to say that love is the reason for
my existence, for God is love. Love is my true identity.
Selflessness is my true self.
Love is my true character.
Love is my name.

This is my last post on this network. Tomorrow my subscription to the pro version ends and I am not going to renew it. A few days ago I decided not to pay to display my work, so I will also disappear from X when my blue label expires, if not before given the controversy that surrounds this other network since a careless child with an adult body put it at his service and that of even more spurious interests. It has been a real pleasure, and an honour, sharing my work for six years with so many virtual friends who have appreciated it selflessly. I say goodbye to you with sincere affection and gratitude. My account will remain open here, as a virtual portfolio, with the captures that the server wants to keep and whose number I do not know, since right now it exceeds the limit stipulated for a regular account. You will find me in other places in the profile @joanlopezphoto. Best wishes for you all, Flickr friends.
Ruigoord is a village in the Houtrakpolder in the Dutch province of North Holland, situated within the municipality of Amsterdam. Until the 1880s, it was an island in the IJ bay, which was turned into a polder. In the 1960s, the municipality planned to extend the Port of Amsterdam. From 1972 onwards squatters occupied buildings and started a free zone. After resisting eviction in 1997, the area was legalized in 2000. The village is nowadays partially closed in by the port, and lies about 8 km east of Haarlem.
In 1964, plans were drawn up by the municipality of Amsterdam to build the Africa Harbour for the petrochemical industry. The plan included the annexation of 600 hectares (1,500 acres) of land belonging to Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude, including the village of Ruigoord. Amsterdam immediately set out to acquire real estate in and around Ruigoord, and started to prepare the farmland for construction.
In 1972, a group of artists squatted some abandoned houses. In 1973, Frank IJsselmuiden became mayor of Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude, and wanted to put the annexation to a vote. The same evening, he received a call from Ferdinand Kranenburg, the Queen's Commissioner of North Holland who told him hat annexation was a done deal and not open for discussion. A lengthy legal battle between Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude on the one hand, and Amsterdam and the Province of North Holland on the other hand commenced. For strategic reasons, the squatters were encouraged to settle in Ruigoord.
The village was scheduled to be demolished on 23 July 1973. On Sunday 22 July 1973, the local priest performed his last mass and handed the keys of the church to the squatters. The next day, the road to the village was barricaded, and the squatters led by Hans Plomp and Gerben Hellinga successfully managed to stop the demolition crew. The 1973 oil crisis further complicated the Africa Harbour project.
Ruigoord became a free zone and started to attract artists like Simon Vinkenoog. It also became known for its drugs. In 1984, Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude tried to change the village into a "green zone" where industry is not allowed, but the plans were blocked by the Province. In November 1995, mayor IJsselmuiden accepted an offer to become mayor of Edam-Volendam. His main reason for resigning was the tiresome 22-year legal battle with Amsterdam.
On 1 January 1997, Amsterdam annexed Ruigoord. The squatters decided to continue their fight against the harbour, and started the Groenoord plan to turn the village into an ecological zone. On 7 October 1997, 200 policemen of the Mobiele Eenheid, the Dutch riot squat, were sent into Ruigoord to remove the squatters. The entire area, except for the village, was flattened and prepared for construction by the Port of Amsterdam. The legal battle advanced all the way to Court of Justice of the European Union.
In 2000, a compromise was reached. The village of Ruigoord was allowed to exist as an enclave within the harbour. Initially, Amsterdam did not want to allow residency in the village.
Current situation:
Ruigoord as an enclave in the harbour.
Ruigoord exists as a squatted zone to this day, but it is now legalized. Full moon parties are regularly organised in the formerly Roman Catholic village church and every year there is the Landjuweel (Land Jewel) festival in August.
Since the early 2000s, the village has staged an annual poetry festival over the Whitsun weekend, Vurige tongen (Fiery Tongues). One of the festival's three days is always devoted to international poets. From 2003 on, a yearly Ruigoord Trophy has been awarded to individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to maintaining the village as an important cultural stronghold. The first such trophy was presented to Simon Vinkenoog. Three notable non-Dutch trophy holders are the late American poet and photographer Ira Cohen, the Canada-born writer Jordan Zinovich, and the Amsterdam-based American poet and writer Eddie Woods.

The sad effects of the wildfires in Jasper and the rest of the National park.... this view a bit up on Maligne Lake road
Thank you to all first responders who fought to protect Jasper. They worked tirelessly day and night, to protect this community, which to many, is their home. Their selflessness and bravery are truly commendable – we will always remember the extraordinary dedication they displayed during the challenging early days of this wildfire response.
The Jasper fires refer to the devastating Jasper wildfires of July 2024, which destroyed approximately 30% of the townsite, forced the evacuation of 25,000 people for nearly a month, (and continuing) and significantly impacted properties and infrastructure, though critical facilities were saved. Fueled by lightning and extreme drought conditions, the monstrous fire complex generated its own weather and rapidly consumed the area.
Impact:
Approximately 358 buildings, including homes and two churches, were destroyed.
About 25,000 residents and visitors were evacuated.
Critical infrastructure like the hospital and schools remained intact. The wildfire complex created its own weather system with a wall of flame up to 100 meters high.

K is for Kindness
A selfless act of grace,
Spread it all around you
As you rove about in space.
It doesn't take much effort
It's a simple thing to do,
And you'll find when you give kindness
That it comes right back to you!
Thank you to those who serve and save others selflessly. We need more firefighters and fewer fire starters in this world.
PS I wanted this to be a more dramatic scene with smoke and fire and rescue but this was the best I could do for today.

❀ “Scuppernongs are big, juicy grapes that are greenish, burnished bronze, or green-gold in color. Botanically speaking, they're a variety of muscadine grape (Vitis rotundifolia), a grapevine species native to the southeastern and south-central United States.
☞ Scuppernongs taste very sweet and juicy, while the thick skins, though still edible, are tough and sour. Large, bitter seeds rest inside. Some people prefer only to eat the sweet and juicy innards, squeezing out the flesh and removing the seeds.
☞ Scuppernongs are named after the Scuppernong River, located just off Albermarle Sound in North Carolina. That's where the grapes were originally found growing wild and cultivated during the 18th century. All scuppernong grapes are related to one muscadine vine found on Roanoke Island, North Carolina, called the 'Mother Vine,' that is hundreds of years old, thought to be the oldest cultivated grapevine in the country.”

Canadian Pacific's locomotive 6644, is specially painted to honor the troops and aircraft that stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, busting through Hitler's "Atlantic Wall" on June 6, 1944. This would quickly mean the downfall of the Nazi occupation. The alternating black and white stripes on the locomotive are like those painted on the Allied aircraft for a quick identification between friend and foe during the invasion. It has been eighty years ago today, when the selfless troops stormed he beaches of Normandy, so the world could live in peace. I thank them, every single one that gave the ultimate sacrifice along with the fewer than 1% still alive, for their courage to protect freedom. Thank You!

My selfless devotion to rooting out the truth about the invasion of Earth from beings from another planet has once again been justified as I have no doubt that I've discovered their landing ships turned living quarters that they dwell in as they adapt to our atmosphere and gravity. These 'comfort stations' found on Coney Island will surely be appearing in heavily populated areas near you. Keep on the lookout and notify your local S.I.M.P.L.E. (Space Invaders Monitoring and Protective League Entente) should you encounter these sinister structures or anything with these strange alien markings. I'm going in for a closer look, if you don't hear back from me it's been swell kids.

AN AFFIRMATION OF SELFLESS LOYALTY
My fearless heart
Of diamond clarity
Where expression and thought
Are proof of your bravery, justice and swiftness
That cut through ignorance and malcontent
To reveal the pristine awareness of being
Where the freedom of the mind
Is like the sweet chorus of the birds

Sometimes the reinforcement of gracious qualities and love can be a good thing.
So I decided to start an Album on Flickr doing just that.
I like to take shots of the things I have collected over the years that are sharing their presence with me in my home.
Some of my Grail shots have this quality, but often the poem ends up being longer than an affirmation, to me they end up more like a prayer. You can see the Album that contains those works in my Flickr account as well.
But in a sense this is the same principle, as the things I have collected over the years often have a sacred presence or meaning, so I thought I would start to share them here.
On rainy days or when I am not in a writing mood, it is good to still keep working, using the camera in this way, and it is not only enjoyable, it is an opportunity to appreciate these wonderful sacred items and sculptures all over again, and listen to what they have to say.
This Garuda is a modern piece, but the history, energy and protective instinct is the same as from his first incarnation.
This shot is from where he resides, in my glass cabinet, where I keep many other precious things..

I love walking through my home town of Newcastle, and was drawn to this old guy taking pleasure from the simple, selfless act of feeding pigeons. I'll bet the bag cost him more than tuppence and I would imagine he's never had the chance to say 'yes' to tax-free savings either.
Publication History
Writer Geoff Johns developed Larfleeze as a key participant in the "Blackest Night" storyline, explaining at San Diego Comic-Con in 2009 that he came up with the name "Larfleeze" by combining the words "lard" and "sleaze".
Johns states that Larfleeze is one of his favorite characters to write because of how "out of touch" the character is, adding that, other than greed, emotions have no value to him because they do not provide him with anything material.
After his brief first appearance in DC Universe #0 (April 2008), the character went on to be shown in smaller teaser appearances within the Green Lantern series until his first extended appearance in Green Lantern #39 (April 2009).
The issue leads into "Agent Orange" (named after the codename Larfleeze is given by the Guardians of the Universe), the storyline detailing the character's origin that also serves as a prelude to the "Blackest Night" storyline.
Larfleeze's story includes an appearance in Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps #2 (July 2009). In the story Tales of the Orange Lanterns: Blume Godhead, he is shown "recruiting" one of his most recognizable Orange Lanterns.
Larfleeze received a back-up in Threshold, written by Keith Giffen, with art by Scott Kolins. The back-up ran from Threshold #1 (March 2013) to #5 (July 2013).
The plot focused on the apparent theft of Larfleeze's power battery, and his attempt to retrieve it. The back-up spins off into a self-titled ongoing series, Larfleeze. Keith Giffen and Scott Kolins continued as the creative team, with J. M. DeMatteis introduced as co-writer. In March 2014, DC announced that the Larfleeze series would end with issue 12.
Fictional character biography
A long, long time ago (And in a galaxy far, far away.) a group of thieves consisting of Larfleeze (who was their leader), Chattle, Flob, Blooch, and Turpa of the planet Ogatoo performed for a mysterious buyer what was perhaps the greatest heist ever pulled in the history of the universe.
The group stole a monumental amount of treasures and relics from the planet Maltus, including a box containing Parallax and a section of an ancient map that had originally belonged to Krona.
While escaping the planet, Chattle was captured by The Manhunters but the other four escaped with both the box and the map. Upon studying the map Larfleeze, Chattle, Blooch and Turpa traveled to Okaara in The Vega System where, following the death of Flob at the hands of a giant man-eating plant, they discovered the Orange Lantern Central Power Battery upon falling into an ancient underground palace.
Overwhelmed by it's power, Larfleeze, Blooch and Turpa began desperately fighting for the power battery and, as they did, The Guardians of the Universe and an army of Manhunters descended upon Okaara in an attempt to retrieve the box containing Parallax.
However, because of it's proximity to Larfleeze and the others, The Guardians could not get within reaching distance of the box.
The Guardians and Manhunters who tried were incinerated by the Orange Light of Avarice. More Guardians and Manhunters fell to the Orange Light in the midst of the chaos, along with Blooch.
The remaining Guardians decided to make a deal and, once Larfleeze and Turpa learned that the Guardians weren't after the Orange Light, they became more inclined to listen.
In return for Parallax, The Guardians would give control of the Orange Light of Avarice as well as the entire Vega System over to the one who survived the struggle for the Orange Lantern, that survivor was Larfleeze. The deal was hammered out, Parallax was returned to the Guardians and Larfleeze became Agent Orange.
The Guardians also promised that neither they nor anyone affiliated with them would ever come back, so long as Larfleeze kept up his end of the bargain and did not allow The Orange Light to shine beyond the borders of The Vega System.
That did not stop people from coming to look for the Orange Light of Avarice, however and, over the eons Larfleeze spent festering in an ancient underground palace, countless people were murdered and their souls became slaves to Larfleeze's will.
Major Story Arcs
The Return of...Agent Orange
During the 21st Century, Larfleeze overlooked a couple of trespasses made by The Green Lantern Corps simply on account of the fact that they were just trying to capture members of The Spider Guild and The Sinestro Corps...but then one day The Controllers, a race who split off from the Guardians ages ago, came looking for the Orange Light of Avarice and they did so during Larfleeze's feasting time.
Infuriated by their trespass, Larfleeze slaughtered all of the Controllers and reanimated them under his control.
Later, while a Green Lantern named Stel was pursuing a Sinestro Corps soldier into The Vega System, Larfleeze summoned the being of Blume, a massive creature whom he had previously taken control. Blume devoured the Sinestro Corps Lantern and then turned it's attention to Stel.
Under orders from Larfleeze, Blume tore off all of Stel's limbs and branded him with the symbol of the Orange Light of Avarice. When Stel's body was brought back to The Guardians of the Universe for examination, they were shocked to see the symbol.
Without warning, a pillar of orange flames burst forth and created an energy construct of Larfleeze which would allow him to communicate with The Guardians.
He was furious with them and began blaming them for The Controllers' actions as well as taking his feasting time away from him. He then started making demands but his transmission was cut short by Scar, who declared that the next law to be placed in The Book of Oa would be that The Vega System is no longer off-limits to the Guardians of the Universe.
The other Guardians agreed and led a massive army of Green Lanterns into The Vega System where they stopped many of the criminals who were using it as a safe haven from escaping.
The Guardians and the Green Lanterns then made their way to Okaara where Larfleeze unleashed his reanimated victims...including those of The Controllers.
A vicious fight broke out and, as the Guardians and the Green Lanterns attempted to fend off the attacking energy beings, one Green Lantern named Gretti was consumed by one of the orange construct of Glomulus and, in turn, became one of Larfleeze's slaves.
As the fight continued Hal Jordan got separated from his allies and fell down a large chasm where Larfleeze just so happened to be waiting for him.
When Larfleeze sensed the presence of the Blue Lantern Ring on Hal's finger, he became intoxicated by the power it was emitting. Larfleeze made himself known to Hal and demanded that Hal surrender the Blue Lantern Ring over to him immediately.
With his orange light constructs fighting the Green Lantern Corps outside and Hal Jordan unable to escape, Larfleeze felt free to briefly return his attention to his feast. As Larfleeze ate, he told tales of the fools who tried to take what was his away and also made mention of the Green Lanterns he had slaughtered in ages past.
When Larfleeze returned to the subject of the Blue Lantern Ring, he asked what it was "full" of and the ring asked what Larfleeze hoped for. Larfleeze responded, with the symbol of the Blue Lantern Corps glowing in his eyes, that he desired a great many things and that what he hoped for was the Blue Lantern Ring.
Due to Hope being a selfless emotion and Larfleeze was a being controlled by Greed, it rejected Larfleeze and shocked him with a burst of it's energy preventing Larfleeze from removing it.
This gave Hal the chance to get the one-up on Larfleeze but only for a second. Larfleeze proved to be too powerful for even Hal in his current state to handle and was promptly swatted aside. Hal did not refuse to give up however and the two came to a standstill.
Hal offered a trade. The Blue Lantern Power Ring in return for the tale of how Larfleeze came to be Agent Orange. Larfleeze told him the story and, when he tried to take the Ring from Hal, the ring once again rejected him. Larfleeze declared that Hal was a "welsher" and had had enough with his bartering.
Hal desperately pleaded for Larfleeze to retain patience while he tried to get it off but Larfleeze, not wanting to wait, formed a large energy construct in the shape of a massive sword and sliced Hal's right arm off and took the Blue Ring for himself. As he did it welcomed Larfleeze to The Blue Lantern Corps.
However...Larfleeze quickly learned that the Blue Lantern Power Ring had tricked him by using his own hope of obtaining it against him.
This sent Larfleeze into a rage but gave Hal the distraction he needed to press onward with his attack against Larfleeze. As the two continued to fight, the Guardians of The Universe as well as the rest of the Green Lanterns came to Hal's aid.
Hal took advantage of the situation to snatch The Orange Lantern Central Power Battery from Larfleeze's hands which almost resulted in him becoming the new Agent Orange until Larfleeze quickly snatched it back out of Hal's hands.
Infuriated, Larfleeze grew to massive proportions and attacked the Guardians and the Green Lanterns without mercy. As the fight raged on, Hal was pestered once more by the Blue Power Ring asking him what he hoped for.
When Hal said that if "they" got out of the situation alive then he hoped the Blue Lantern Power Ring would stop asking him that question. The ring registered Hal's sincerity and unleashed it's full power upon Larfleeze.
It then separated itself from Hal and departed in search of it's new wielder, this infuriated Larfleeze further. Just as he was about to attack once more, the Guardians of the Universe proposed the idea of forming another treaty.
The Guardians asked him what he wanted in order to bring an end to the conflict. Larfleeze whispered to the Guardians that he wanted to know where he could locate and obtain a Blue Lantern Power Ring and that if they told him what he wanted to know he would not cause the Guardians of the Universe anymore trouble.
The Guardians of the Universe agreed and hours after they departed from Okaara, Larfleeze's minions secretly made their way to Odym where they launched an all-out assault on Ganthet, Sayd and their Blue Lantern Corps.
Blackest Night
While the battle for the blue light raged, Blackest Night kicked in and, as prophesied, the dead began to rise across the universe as Black Lanterns.
While monitoring the battle with Ganthet from his hiding place on Okaara, Larfleeze was confronted by the animated corpses of the people his light devoured. Unable to defeat them, Larfleeze was saved by the intervention of the red lantern Atrocitus. But Atrocitus' intentions were far from altruistic as he attacked Larfleeze and demanded that the glutton hand over the orange battery to him.
Larfleeze was saved once again by the arrival of Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Carol Ferris, Indigo-1, Saint Walker, Ganthet, and Sayd, who recruited Larfleeze and Atrocitus to their group in order to battle the black lanterns.
Larfleeze agreed, but on condition: That he be given a Guardian. Knowing that victory over the black lanterns is not possible without the orange light, Sayd promised him that, after Blackest Night is over, she would forever pledge her servitude to Larfleeze.
Larfleeze joins their group and goes to Earth to fight the black lanterns, and their master, Nekron. Not being able to destroy the lord of the unliving by themselves, the lanterns need back up. To this end, Ganthet activates a protocol in each of their rings, designating a 24 hour deputy lantern. Larfleeze's ring chooses Lex Luthor.
This backfires as Lex is consumed by the orange light and tries to take Larfleeze's battery, along with everything else he sees. In the end, Larfleeze is able to overpower him and assert his dominance as the one and only Agent Orange.
At the end of the conflict Larfleeze tosses Lex back to Hal and the other lanterns, telling them that he is of Earth so they will figure out how to punish him. Carol laughed at this and commented that Larfleeze just did what they thought he would never do, actually gave something to someone.
Brightest Day
Following the end of Blackest Night Larfleeze has entered a truce with the other corps, but before he returns to his home something is still bugging him. He tracks down Lex Luthor, who is shown free of his ring but still obsessed with having one. Larfleeze, with Sayd in tow, attacks him once more and tells him he still hungers and that Lex's comments about the greed of humans has peaked his curiosity. He asks Lex a simple question: What is the most valuable thing on Earth? Lex answers that it's power, which Larfleeze says he has plenty of and there must be something else, to which Lex's answers, "Land."
Due to Lex's response, Larfleeze starts to live on Earth and begins ransacking local towns of everything he can get until it looks like he's living on a garbage dump. Hal comes in and asks him why he's still living here, to which Larfleeze comments he has discovered what he truly needs to find in the universe and its right here on Earth, someone who will bring him everything he has ever wanted. That someone, Santa Claus.
While Hal is trying to convince him that Santa Clause isn't real and ask him how he captured the Orange Entity inside his lantern, Hector Hammond arrives and attacks them. He uses his powers to steal Larfleeze's lantern. When Larfleeze tries to grab it back, Hector eats it, thus freeing the entity which takes over Hector's body and makes him one with it.
Larfleeze replies that the way he locked up the Orange Entity was much harder than he let on, implying that with Hector now in tow it was going to be even more difficult. However the battle is interrupted by Hector fleeing the scene to go find Carol, the one thing he really wants. Hal says he has to leave to find her in Las Vegas, but Larfleeze insist on tagging along and he isn't taking no for an answer.
Once they arrive in Vegas Larfleeze realizes he's finally found where he really belongs, a city dedicated to greed and even brags about "All You Can Eat Buffets." However his meal is interrupted by the Predator breaking in, having taken over the body of a stalker. Larfleeze attacks him but is showed images of his family and of his history. Carol is able to tame the Predator and she, along with Hal and Larfleeze are brought to the Star Sapphire's homeworld Zamaron where Carol is made the new Zamaron Queen, which Larfleeze wants to be.
While on the planet Zamaron Larfleeze is learning that without his battery he can no longer hold onto his projections and create his corp. He strikes out against Hal in anger, but he is stopped when Saint Walker contacts them to let him know that the Blue Lantern Entity is now on Earth and has chosen a host. Larfleeze joins Hal as they go in search of her, and when they find her she tells Larfleeze that his family is still alive, and they miss him, which is something so startling it almost brings Larfleeze to his knees.
However he doesn't have long to take this in, as the Indigo Tribe and their entity Proselyte have come to Earth. They are then joined by the Flash who is shouting down Hal, trying to lecture him on the dangers of teaming up with villains, however Larfleeze interrupts the conversation as he steals the Flash's wallet, proving that even without his wallet he's still very powerful thanks to being the soul possessor of the Orange rings.
This is all interrupted as a they are faced with the appearance of the force who has been capturing these entities and learn that it is Krona, the rogue Guardian. Larfleeze joins forces with the other New Guardians as they attack Krona, but he brings out his secret weapon, revealing he has captured Hector Hammond and the orange entity Ophidian. Hammond unleashes a mental attack on each of them, leaving them battered and broken as Krona leaves with Parallax.
Larfleeze follows Jordan and the other New Guardians out into space to try and find Krona before he reaches Zamaron, but they find that their too late and he has already captured the Predator, the last of the entities. Sinsestro and Carol Ferris join Hal and Larfleeze, as they race off to Ryut to find Krona, but he isn't there. Instead they are greeted by the Book of Black, which Sinestro says houses all that the Guardians wanted to keep secret.
Larfleeze instantly jumps on this because he wants to know these secrets, causing several black chains to spring out and attach themselves to the New Guardians, showing them visions of how Krona was the one responsible for the Massacre of Space Sector 666. They are let go of the chains but Larfleeze spots his lantern being spit out of the book. Hal warns him not to touch it but its too late, he has already grabbed it and won't let it go, even as Lyssa Drak pops out of it and sucks Larfleeze into the book. She absorbs the rest of them as well except for Hal Jordan who is able to escape, only to see that Larfleeze and the rest of the New Guardians are gone with their rings dropped to the ground behind them.
War Of The Green Lanterns
When Krona's attack traps the other six New Guardians in the Book of the Black, Hal is able to escape with their rings. Although he initially discouraged John Stewart from using the ring due to its psychological effects, Hal later uses Larfleeze's orange ring in conjunction with Sinestro's ring to hold off the attacking brainwashed Green Lanterns long enough for Guy Gardner to break Parallax out of the Central Power Battery and restore their comrades to normal. While trapped inside the Book of the Black, Larfleeze is forced to relive a childhood memory of slavery. Larfleeze is later freed from the book by Kyle Rayner. When his orange ring returns to him, Larfleeze is initially fearful, saying "Keep it away from me!" Once the ring is on his finger, however, he returns to his usual mindset, declaring it "Mine!"
Powers & abilities
Being a "one man Corps", Larfleeze is immensely powerful - more so than any ordinary Lantern. He has demonstrated the ability to fight dozens of ring-bearers at the same time. The orange light has the ability to create orange light replicas, referred to as "constructs", based on the identities of those it kills. As Larfleeze is too greedy to share his rings, save for one given to Lex Luthor at Ganthet's insistence, he uses his ring's ability to create constructs in order to field an entire army of Orange Lanterns to face his foes for him. His connection to his power battery allows him to maintain the constructs indefinitely, so long as he devotes attention to doing so. Notable Orange Lantern constructs include:
Blume (of Sector 2751): A giant extraterrestrial head that proclaims himself a god of hunger so that he can intimidate the inhabitants of planets into feeding him their valuables. After failing to do the same to Larfleeze, he is made into an Orange Lantern construct and now patrols the Vega system. He consumes the Sinestro Corps member of sector 2825 and brands Green Lantern Stel with the symbol of the Orange Lantern Corps. During the Blackest Night event, his body is shown being reanimated as a Black Lantern.
Clypta (of Sector 2829): An Orange Lantern from the Thieves' System that is reanimated as a member of the Black Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night event.
The Controllers: Arrive on Okaara searching for the orange light in order to create their own Corps. Upon finding the orange power battery, they are confronted by Larfleeze and killed by his Orange Lanterns. Later they are also shown to have been assimilated into his army of constructs.
Glomulus (of Sector 2826): A former tavern cleaner on Okaara. While there, he is only allowed out of his cage to eat whatever food falls on the floor. After accidentally getting a taste for blood, Glomulus eats everyone in the tavern. Free, he makes his way into the woods and finds himself at Larfleeze's palace where he is consumed by Blume. His identity is stolen, turning him into an Orange Lantern. During the Blackest Night event, his body is shown being reanimated as a Black Lantern. In promotional art for the new series Green Lantern: New Guardians, Glomulus is shown to be the representative of the Orange Lantern Corps; subsequent information reveals that he was initially a construct posing as an Orange Lantern ring to latch on to Kyle Rayner for an unknown purpose.
Gretti (former Green Lantern of Sector 2828): Literally torn limb from limb by Larfleeze's constructs during the Green Lantern attack on Okaara. After his defeat, his identity is stolen, turning him into an Orange Lantern. During the Blackest Night event, his body is shown being reanimated as a Black Lantern.
Guardian of the Universe: While Larfleeze's thieves guild and the Guardians fought for the orange power battery, the power of the orange light is unleashed, killing one of the Guardians in the process. He is shown as being turned into an Orange Lantern construct. In Green Lantern vol. 4 #45, a male Guardian is shown being reanimated as a Black Lantern on Okaara.
Larfleeze: After reclaiming his power battery from Hal Jordan, Larfleeze withdraws the Orange Lantern Corps into his battery and uses the combined power to create a gigantic avatar of himself in order to attack the Green Lantern Corps. Larfleeze later sends a life-sized avatar of himself to lead the attack against the Blue Lanterns on Odym.
Nat-Nat: An Orange Lantern from Limey Rock that is reanimated as a member of the Black Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night event.
Sound Dancer (of Sector 911): An Orange Lantern from the Obsidian Deeps that is reanimated as a member of the Black Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night event. The Obsidian Deeps make up the lightless sector that Green Lantern (F Sharp Bell) Rot Lop Fan is from.
Tammal-Tayn (of Sector 2813): An Orange Lantern from the planet Fylip that is reanimated as a member of the Black Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night event.
Turpa: A member of the guild of thieves Larfleeze formerly belonged to. Together the guild steals the Guardians' map to the Orange Power Battery, and upon finding it are so overcome with greed that they fight one another for it. Turpa is killed by the power of the orange light before Larfleeze and Blooch fight to the death for the orange power battery. He is shown as having been turned into an orange light construct.
Warp Wrap (of Sector 2): An Orange Lantern from the planet Cairo that is reanimated as a member of the Black Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night event.
As a consequence of being the only wielder of the Orange Light, Larfleeze suffers from extreme paranoia and greed. His greed can be subdued in the presence of the Blue Light, but his avarice is never fully satiated.
The Entity
The entity of greed that Larfleeze keeps chained within his Orange Lantern is a snake-like being called Ophidian the Tempter. It was the first being to consume more than it needed, and thus became the first example of avarice in the history of the universe. It speaks to and wields its corrupting influence over whoever possesses the Lantern. When Krona dispatched Hector Hammond to find Larfleeze and the Lantern, Hammond consumed the Lantern and became the host of Ophidian in much the same way as Hal Jordan had once been the host of Parallax.
After joining Krona, Ophidian used its powers to pinpoint the location of the Butcher, the entity of rage that Atrocitus was on the search for. Once Krona had collected all the entities, he launched an attack on Oa, where Ophidian and its fellow entities each possessed a Guardian. After Krona was killed by Hal Jordan, Ophidian was released from his hold and is currently roaming at large in the universe.
