Tucson, Arizona — Here is a multiple-exposure composite photo of a competitor in the February 6th Pima Community College Invitational way back in 2010. Two photos were layered together in Adobe Photoshop, masked using Topaz Remask, with the back-ground blurred and lightened. The cut-out layer was also stylized using photoshop's filter gallery.

DuoLingo French 1111 Days Streak - IMRAN™
1111 days streak of learning French. Nothing huge, just 5-6 minutes a day. It doesn’t mean I am any good at it. But being somewhat consistent at least helps me fight a lifelong weakness of procrasti… 😀

1000 jours consécutifs d'apprentissage du français sur DuoLingo - IMRAN™
Procrastination has been my deadly weakness all my life. It is tied closely to a pattern of inconsistent bursts of intensely productive activity followed by putting things on the back burners. Some of it is from the Gemini weakness of new interests crowding out existing goals or projects on the limited calendar that is life.
I’ve known it all my life, but I’ve kept up the constant struggle against my own weaknesses like that. I’m definitely 30 years behind in my to-do lists.
First starting to learn a new language at 13, using my late young uncle Shahid’s Teach Yourself German book, having a fourth language under my belt has always been a goal. (Urdu, English, and Punjabi are the existing three since childhood.)
French was also on my list. That became a goal also since I had the joy of celebrating turning 25 years old in two of my favorite cities in the world, Berlin and Paris!
In my 33 years as an American living in NY and FL, I bought almost every new method, from books to tapes to CDs to DVDs to PC/Mac software, and even several online apps. But they did not do anything for me … because I didn’t do anything real with them.
It was only when I put to use the “beat my own best” ego/accomplishment sense with gamification via non-stop streaks on DuoLingo that I made real progress. I did it. Daily. It did not matter even if it was only 5-10 minutes a day. Even if I was in an emergency room one night two years ago or on 24 hours of flights to Pakistan.
My 1000-days streak of daily French lessons on DuoLingo doesn’t mean I’ve fully learned the language. But I’ve made progress. And it did help me start trying to use consistency with persistence in other areas of life too.
I do that by trying to do streaks of days tying together small changes / steps in other activities and interests too. In that, the book Atomic Habits also helped me more than a hundred previous self-improvement books I’ve read.
May God give me the strength, self-discipline, and time to meet my own goals and dreams. Amen. Merci beaucoup pour votre attention, votre amitié, et votre amour!

Rhinoplasty: my favorite operation.
The chisels in this shot were handed down to me by my father and my grandfather. These are actually woodworking chisels, of course, and not surgical instruments. The osteotomes I use in the O.R. are a lot smaller (of course), but wouldn't be the right scale for this comp, nor would they convey the same sense of sculpting.
My wife humored me by serving as my ever patient patient for this shot.

Pima County, Tucson, AZ Jun 3, 2006 — These creations go by many names. Tiny Planet, Polar Coordinate, Small Planet, Polar Panorama and several others. The bottom line is the photo is distorted with the polar coordinate filter found in Adobe Photoshop. There are other programs, but that's how I've been doing it. The process couldn't be easier, but there is a bit of finesse involved.

Every generation has a “monoculture” of sorts, a governing pattern or system of beliefs that people unconsciously accept as “truth.”
It’s easy to identify the monoculture of Germany in the 1930s, or America in 1776. It’s clear what people at those times, in those places, accepted to be “good” a...
