Long exposure at the iconic location on Derwent water.
Managing to arrive in the lake district during one of the worst weather fronts for a while and took advantage of the poor weather to try out some long exposure photography using my trusted Firecrest 16Stop ND filter. This one just over 4 minutes unfortunately only 1 out of 3 worked as the weather was quite wild and moved the tripod for one of the images and under exposed on the other due to rapid weather changes during exposure although may still be able to recover that one and ended at that point.
Main focus here was the flood gate and fence with the autumn colours on the trees and the sky movement here making the image nice and dramatic.
One of the last images captured before the infamous lens collapse. Ahead is the famous Colmers hill and regulars here would know that you will see lots of grazing sheep and one here enjoying the warmth of the sunrise and distant mist...
A trip to Sheffield Park at the weekend was in order particularly as the weather on the Saturday was more appealing than the Sunday. The view here is from '10 foot pond' towards Sheffield house, with the early part of the morning being more productive allowing for this mirror reflection of autumn colours.
Using the firecrest polariser only and was able to get the rich colours out during processing.
Roe island road at low tide.
Long exposure using a 16 stop ND filter and firecrest holder.
The tide was out so took advantage to have a go at some late afternoon long exposures, bright and moody day with the clouds overhead and sun trying it's best to ruin the exposure although making use of this during processing, a moody sky and a pretty windy day all in all a fabulous day...
A day spent in Wales and made a small diversion to call here to capture some images and at the same time could not resist the fish and chip shop near by. Was hoping for the tide not to be out as much at this time and at this particular time the tide was slowly making it's way back.
Used the firecrest 6Stop nd filter and polariser.
St Aldhelm's Chapel is a Norman chapel on St Aldhelm's Head Dorset. Believed to be around the 12th century.
Catching my eye here are the flowers near the cross lit by the early morning sun.
Another image of autumn at Sheffield Park.
Firecrest polariser used most of the day here hoping to capture the full colour displayed. With this one I particularly liked using the acer as a frame and as you can see here further acers in the distance and the pond still showing a great reflection this time of the morning.
Pictured is the old lifeboat house at Chapmans Pool.
Should anyone be interested here is an extract from Wiki.
In 1866, after much local pressure and because many lives were lost at sea nearby, the decision was made to build a lifeboat station at Chapman's Pool. The station was built and completed during 1867. The lifeboat George Scott was placed at Chapman's Pool in November 1866 but the station soon closed again in 1880 owing to the great expense involved in up keeping the boathouse, the land slips that constantly swept down upon it and because lacking a village nearby, and there being too few local volunteers to serve on the lifeboat. The building still stands and is used as a fishing hut.
A long exposure using the firecrest 16 stop nd filter, and remembering to have the correct camera settings for a change...
Avenue of trees captured in Dorset, I liked this particular crop as the trees look like they have formed a heart shape...
Sunrise from Wareham bridge looking across towards the Yachts and Fog at sunrise.
The moment 2 ducks swimming adding a bit of interest.
Full manual settings used and also helped in capturing anything that moved at speed.
There are some incredible views in Oregon. This waterfall was on a short hike along with Sahalie Falls. I used a 10-stop ND filter to slowdown the water. Sony A1, Sony 24-70 GM ii, Breakthrough Photography 10-stop ND filter

Sunset at Horton Tower Dorset.
Unfortunately processed from a jpeg as bizarrely I managed to change from raw to jpeg not realising at the time that I had switched over one of the pre set switches on the camera which happens to be a jpeg fine mode plus other wonderful things it was set to.
Re adjusted in lightroom the light and shadows leaving the sun a little overblown still., at least I know this camera does a half descent jpeg file.
This composition I liked as it was quite straightforward moved around for a while until this composition was found with the sloping landscape, fence one side trees the other and sun setting just clipping the edge of the hill and helped by the moody clouds with slight mist in the air.
