Here's one more from my archives I am currently organising: a beautifyully mellow sunset in one of those magnificent Northern mirror places on the Norwegian Lofoten islands.

I am currently working at some image archiving and stumbled upon this beauty from our first stay on the Lofoten islands. I thought this might be a cool change from the Iceland roundtrip ;) :))

We are preparing for another journey to the Lofoten, this time in early February to witness this wonderful archipelago in winter conditions as well. I can't wait to get there, but in the meantime I have to look at my images from our previous stays like this one, taken in Reine - Moskenesoya island - in the small hours of the night.

Two butterflies on one daisy (I can tell you the one on the right got there first!). Posted for Macro Monday...Seeing Double Theme.

The girls should remember the day I got this. We were making our way to Oakwood where we found the antique/junk shop!

Landscape scenario in Southeast Iceland which is very typical for the landscape in that part of the island: mountain chains and swamy pastures with little pools like these everywhere. These ponds are a perfect biotop for migratory birds which we saw making landfall in these plains in their hundreds. But I chose a quiet setting showcasing the gorgeous clouds and sky reflected in the ponds on this wonderful Spring day.

Another one I found while organising my archives, this one from a summer stay in the Scottish Highlands and West coast: Loch Creran at Dallachulish bracing itself for nightfall :)

One of my favourite spots of our 2-weeks round trip around Iceland: Olafsfjordur in Iceland's North fjords. the fjord is surrounded by beautiful mountains and great natural settings and standing by its shore offers the most amazing reflective scenarios imaginable.

Going through the memories from Lofoten I realised I had to do one more stitched pano of nightly Reine since we had shot such a plethora of images that night. And every single panorama offers new sights and views. it is some kind of backwards exploration :)

Som here's the colour version of my previously presented mono pano of Hampton Court bridge spanning the river Thames. The intense cloud cover did not allow for a starry night surrounding but the bridge provided its own stars :)

Olafsfjordur fjord in North Iceland certainly still lies in the arms of winter the fair maid, although the sunlight says otherwise. But let the light not betray you, It was bitterly cold when I shot this scenario,

We have arrived at the Northfjords of Iceland today and with the North came incredible sunshine and a switch of temperature from -5 degrees C last night to 16 degrees C today (in the sun). And then we arrived at the coast and all we saw were mountains and the sea, mountains and lakes and more mountains and sea. I think we must have dropped off a cliff and are in heaven now.

A Lofoten island scenario where one may feel pretty dazed and confused.

A morning of weather splendour on the Lofoten Islands, changing weather moods between snow fall and bright sunshine, crisp cold and the whole world as sharp and brittle as a knife made of ice ...

Svolvaer and its islets crammed with rorbuer (fishermen huts) now exclusively used for tourism. But even knowing that I still love the setting of this place :)

It was totally magical to experience the Lofoten islands in winter and yet, with great sadness I have decided that I will not visit the archipelago again, at least not in winter. There is no more room for explorers and individual photographers there.

We are preparing for leaving on Friday for another ten days in Norway's North, not the Lofoten islands though this time, but the fjords around Tromso, Norway's Capital of the Arctic :) This is to get myself into the mood ...

National Geographic | BR-Creative | chbustos.com

A splendid fjord landscape on the Lofoten islands on a day of wonderful weather moods and changes. I especially liked how the ice offered so many different textures and that there was still some open water left reflecting the mountain in such a great way.

Macro Mondays ~Two

Two hand cut Numbers, Two scrabble Letters, reflections Lights, glass. side lights.

This is a stretch of Icelandic landscape between Hoefn in the extreme Southeast and the East coast. We were on our way to Djupivogur, one of the relatively few places where to stay in the East and really marvelled about this stretch of snow-capped mountains, bogs and ponds which were all illuminated by the most generous Spring sun we encountered during our 2 weeks round trip.

A wide open coastal plane which opened to our eyes when travelling from Patreksfjordur in Iceland's Westfjords towards Kirkjufell on Snaefellsnes peninsula. I found it amazing, how the shadow of the mountain even made some ice to remain on the water surface, while everywhere else there was none.
