After a long bike ride from the old town to the city of arts and science and around the newer area of Valencia and the beach, we set up camp for this sunset. One of the best sunsets we had in Europe through our travels and it was special. Minimal noise besides kids playing football far away and just a beautiful area to admire the sunset. I would love to live in this beautiful city!

As Grantthai mentioned, Maxsimus and myself were invited to accompany him and Danielkhc for a memorable shooting trip. True enough, some of us, in fact all of us, shot peacocks and here is the living proof.
Not a HDR, nor a super blended mixed twisted shot resulting from merging 20+ or so frames (I only got a Canon, not a machine-gun and not even a built-in flash), I won't even dare trying to compete but, well, still something that may be worth looking at.
Grant, thank you and your D300 (coupled with your wireless flash, I hate you) for my new Icon. To complete the transition, I also changed my screen name.
Thank you, Daniel and Maxsimus for this excellent Sunday, hoping there will be many more. Cheers (:-D
Best seen in Large. Thanks.

Here's my 2nd submission to the IPCA competition. It did make the initial cut but no awards. This piece uses the fan fold technique I have been experimenting with recently. My tutorial for this technique is nearing completion. See a preview of all the designs included in the tutorial here: www.helenbreil.com/fan-fold-tutorial.html
This is a rather complex piece of artwork, as it started out as one of the first self portraits I ever did, experimenting with angles, and mood. It was grainy, but back then, I didn't know anything about noise and how to get rid of it, which turned out very good as far as the artistic standpoint went! I was also learning what you could do with post processing.
My very first digital camera, a Kodak point and shoot, with only 7.1 megapixels, came with a Kodak editing program that had some interesting features. Always being one to push the boundaries, I didn't want to stop with a "normal" edit, so I started using some of the filters over and over again, to bring up more and more color, but also, more and more noise. The effects were interesting, even if no one but me could appreciate them at that point, because, like I said, I didn't have a clue that noise was a bad thing, and these techniques I was experimenting with did nothing BUT bring up a ton of noise and color!
I was looking through my photo art SP album to see if there was anything on there that I wanted to work on with some of the things I do now, and I saw this one. I always liked it, so I thought I would play around with it. I used ribbet.com to work with their gooify filter, which creates the fun swirls that make the image look more like a painting. With that, I was able to remove the noisy effect, while still maintaining the artistic, colorful feel to the pic. I was always shooting for more of an artistic painting, rather than a photo look to this shot, and I think finally, I managed it. Color was adjusted a bit, a little airbrush was used, but the gooify tool, which has long been my fave for artsy looking pics, made the difference. It's weird, but I like it!
When I looked at the finished piece when I'd taken the original shot, I called it seduction. The name isn't because it was a woman being seductive, but rather, because of the look of the hair swirling around, there was something that made me think of the earth, with continents and the sea intermingling. I got the impression of a woman being seduced by the world, not the other way around! To be honest, I don't think my face looks particularly provocative in this shot, and I no longer post shots that are showing too much skin. I think I look pretty apathetic, so I am a little amused when someone thinks this is sensual!
