Questions about the security of U.S. borders and effectiveness of U.S. border controls have been compounded by recent events in Europe and migration from Central America. However, political rhetoric obscures the complexity of North American border relations, which are actually dominated by the growth of beneficial and legal cross-border trade and travel.
On March 16, Foreign Policy at Brookings’s Latin America Initiative and Americas Society/Council of the Americas co-hosted a two-panel discussion exploring how new policies for the U.S.-Mexico border can balance the benefits of a continued rise of legal travel and trade with the simultaneous need for Mexico and the United States to work collaboratively to improve border security.

Congress’ Role in the Making and Execution of National Security Policy in the Trump Era
President Obama and the Republican Congress were usually at odds over national security policy. With a Republican in the White House now, will the President and Congress see eye to eye on threats and their solutions, or will differing institutional pressures and perspectives keep the respective ends of Pennsylvania Avenue apart? And, will the congressional investigations of Russia’s attempt to influence the presidential election end with a bang or a whimper? However the investigations conclude, what impact will they have on the relationship between the two branches?

On Tuesday (23.09.2014), Euranet Plus staged a Citizens’ Corner debate on social security rights and looking for a job in another EU country at the European Parliament in Brussels. The aim was to provide information on the rights enjoyed by EU citizens, and also to reveal gaps which may remain between the applicable rules and regulations and the reality of citizens’ daily lives, particularly in cross-border situations. The debate provided the opportunity for open dialogue, contributing to new insights between all those involved.
The debate, already the ninth in the Citizens’ Corner series, was produced in partnership with Polskie Radio, a member of the Euranet Plus network, and was moderated by Brian Maguire of the Euranet Plus News Agency. The second part of the debate in English featured student journalists from Finland (Tampere) and Poland (Warsaw) of the Euranet Plus campus radio network and the following guests:
Jonathan Todd, spokesperson of László Andor, EU commissioner for employment, social Affairs and inclusion
MEP Janusz Lewandowski, Poland, Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats), former European Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget
MEP Ulla Tørnæs, Denmark, Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, vice chair of the employment & social affairs committee
Christa Schweng, president of the Labour Market Observatory of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)

Szef polskiej dyplomacji wziął udział w sesji ministerialnej zatytułowanej Security in Europe - Fault Lines in the East, wspólnie z ministrami spraw zagranicznych Ukrainy Pawło Klimkinem, Litwy Linasem Linkevicziusem oraz Gruzji Dawidem Zalkalianim.

At the end of Meech Lake I came across this fine gate. I could see at least four cameras. The sign said that "Access to this area is prohibited for public safety reasons." and left a phone number (which I will phone)
The gate is visible on Google Maps (http://tinyurl.com/lucnh) and there is a large, somewhat unusual complex down the road. The prime minister does have a cottage on the lake.

I stumbled into this line accidentally, and probably would have rather been in the expert traveler line. However, I was pleased to find that this one was moving faster anyway.
This program might help people if they actually knew it existed. The single sign for each line is located only at the beginning of the line where you have to show your ID and boarding pass to the TSA rep, and were blocked by people standing in the line. And, these lines did not extend to the actual security checkpoint (aka the place with the X-ray machines) where the real bottlenecks occur.
