Rested and restored after the weekend. Didn't go near the lap top. Busy week ahead. Will travel to Gloucester, London (a couple of times) and Windsor. In 10 years of coaching one of the things that has surprised me is the prevalence of low self confidence/esteem. Curious as to the roots of this and whether it is unique to this island. Perhaps I'm sensitive to it having known it. The statement 'I lack confidence' is too general. 'At what? With what? With whom? Where? When?' provide more specific insight and sometimes a realisation that the original statement is no longer true. The bolts have been tightened. Spanners are to hand.
Manchester United secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Marcus Rashford once again stealing the show. The England international scored in each half to take his goal tally to 24 in all competitions this season, his best return in a United shirt, and played a crucial role in Jadon Sancho's goal as well.
The win keeps United in the hunt for the Premier League title, as they are now only three points behind Manchester City and five adrift of leaders Arsenal, having played a game more. The victory also opened up a 10-point gap to fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur ahead of their match against West Ham on Sunday.
Despite the comfortable scoreline, United did not have it all their own way against a resilient Leicester side. The Foxes had scored eight goals across their previous two games and had chances to take the lead in the first half, with David de Gea producing two outstanding saves to deny Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho.
However, it was United who took the lead thanks to some centre-back mistakes from Leicester. Wout Faes' pass was intercepted by Marcel Sabitzer, and as Bruno Fernandes looked to play the ball over the top to Rashford, Harry Souttar stepped up too late to play offside, leaving Rashford with time to score.
Leicester continued to press for an equalizer but were ultimately undone by United's superior quality in the second half.
