Magnificent dusk display as Red Section - two Spitfires and a Hurricane - finally made it to RAF Northolt just before sunset on Thursday September 17 2015 having been thwarted by the weather on the previous two days following the mass 'Battle of Britain 75' take-off from Goodwood on the Tuesday. We were treated to a number of low passes by the three aircraft in close formation and then a truly memorable long solo aerobatic performance by a single Spitfire (after his two colleagues had landed)...as some of the last of The Few watched from the airfield before a Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner with the Duke of Kent. It was all but dark when the trio arrived at 6:50pm so my photos are not the best. But happy to get anything at all in the circumstances. A sight and sound I will never forget.

North American F-86H-10-NH Sabre (NA-203) c/n 203-300, 53-1528, United States Air Force

Wearing the markings of its final assignment with the 121st TFS, DC Air National Guard; The 121st having operated the F-86H from late 1957 to about 1960. Believed placed on display in August of 1960, This aircraft was on display at the "Land of Make Believe" at the Lunken playfield north of the airport for many years (alongside a locomotive, and possibly an M41 Walker Bulldog and an undetermined type of artillery piece.) It was removed to the airport proper later, and is seen here in fairly derelict condition stored awaiting a new fate. On August 16, 2010, it was removed and transported to the Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB, Georgia, to provide parts for the restoration of another F-86H preserved there. Sad, as this was the final F-86H fighter-bomber produced at the North American Aviation factory at Columbus, Ohio.

With my thanks to Lunken's Airport Director, who took me out to photograph this old bird.

Production Design Materials for Cell Block for The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

The design of the cell block where Hannibal Lecter is held was inspired by a photograph of Nazi prisoners at the Nuremberg prison. Scenes taking place in the prison offices were shot on location in several buildings near Pittsburgh, and edited to appear as one space. The cell block was created on a soundstage.

Director Jonathan Demme and cinematographer Tak Fujimoto wanted to shoot scenes between Lecter and Clarice Starling unimpeded by prison bars. Kristi Zea's solution was to use plexiglass, into which holes were drilled so that the characters could hear each other. Actor Anthony Hopkins, playing Hannibal Lecter, used these holes to demonstrate Lecter's keen sense of smell.

section around Falkirk.

Looking west-southwest across section 6 at the Gatehouse at Riverside Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. The Gatehouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Riverside Cemetery was founded in 1876. At that time, a wooden office building was erected on cemetery grounds near the intersection of Pearl Road and Willowdale Avenue (about where the maintenance buildings are now). By 1895, it was clear that this structure was too small and informal to handle cemetery business.

In 1895, cemetery trustees hired noted local architect Charles W. Hopkinson to design and locate a new office building. Hopkinson chose as a site what was then an ornamental garden closer to the cemetery's northern border. To keep costs low, the new Gatehouse was constructed of Massachusetts Brownstone (a reddish sandstone) rather than granite. Plans were approved on May 4, 1896, and construction began in the fall. The $17,360 building was completed in early spring 1897.

The building has a full basement, and two above-ground floors. The first floor contains a two-story Great Room with inlaid oak ceiling and walls of beige Roman bricks. A one-and-a-half story office also takes up the first floor. Its walls and ceiling were originally plaster, but the ceiling has been covered an acoustical drop-ceiling. A narrow circular staircase leads from the Great Room to the second floor. Most of the second floor is take up by an attic, although there is a record storage room in the turret. Originally, the building had entrances on each of the three porches, but the east and north entrances have been closed off and only the west entrance remains.
