The 13th annual Tacky Gift Exchange. December 13, 2010.

my dream holiday would find me in paris checking out all of those great historical sights and holiday decorations. and of course the shopping. this illo was inspired by a chanel creation which i know would travel well any time of the year. so santa please put this on my wish list and don't forget a little extra cash.

edit: I used my flying monkey to make my wife pee her pants last night. Turns out having one of these soar across your head screaming as 4 dogs rush to investigate is a bit startling. :)

I used a 6 inch square from each

Card I sent to Cindy C. for this year's Secret Santa exchange. I had a great time putting together my package. TFL!

Unicorn White ink

Distress Ink - Festive Berries & Pine Needles

The next three are books. Let me just say that if books are indeed gay, I must be the world's biggest sucker of cock. I love to read. My wife, also a reader (hell, she's a literacy specialist) pokes fun at me for always, always finding something to read whenever I have more than 10 seconds with nothing else to do.

The first, The Gathering looks like a supernatural thriller of the YA variety. Sounds entertaining, and I may just have a couple of students that would like to get it on loan when I'm done. It looks a bit dark, and I like dark.

Our cat Jinx immediately claimed the package as her own when I went to get my camera.

Baskervilles, one might think.

The story: The Standard Poodle - Caniche Royal Flickr group had a secret Santa exchange; we opened ours Sunday 12/17/07. Herein lies the tale of greed, avarice, competition, and distinct lack of brother/sisterly love.

Notice the secret Santa box was a product of the Standard Poodle - Caniche Royal group, NOT a Hounds of Africa group. Here you see the toy and goodie hoggers. Jasperthestandardpoodle had grabbed his goodies and retired to the far side of the room. Schubert was still on the outskirts patiently waiting for mom to hand over what she could grab for him.

Thanks again to Lisa and Family.

My secret Santa sent me the best gifts ever!

Accompanied by the usual round of Secret Santa :)

(6124)

The best part is that we're approaching New Year's Eve and our tradition the past few years as been that me, the wife, kid and niece stay up to ring in the new year playing board games. Last year we even bought trophies because we're dorks. This will definitely get played (maybe tonight actually):

By the card I'm assuming I have @madpoet to thank? Awesome gifting! You hit all my addictions! Thanks a ton!

As a side note - I'd love to know what my mail carrier thought of the "Lindsay Lohan c/o Nate Littlefield" address on the packages :)

Funzee - the perfect Christmas gift.

So the dog left. What's inside?

Books! I love books! But books, I've heard somewhere are gay. Does that make me gay? I don't feel like sucking cock. Maybe the rumours are untrue. Anyway, I've heard very good things about the Mass Effect book, and based on the suspended development of Ghost, methinks the book may be the best thing to come out of it. I love the stories in Blizzard's games, so I look forward to reading that as well.

We participated in a Secret Santa event on the ED forum. Last night, I picked up my lovely gift from the post office. What could it be?

The 13th annual Tacky Gift Exchange. December 13, 2010.

First off, an apology to my Santa for taking a few extra days to get this posted to the thread. Business travel for your end-of-year meeting while simultaneously rolling out a major product release leaves one with little time for a proper Gift Get post and, believe you me, this one deserves it.

So, without further ado ...

So, my Santa had previously bestowed upon me some awesome games from the Humble Bundle but had, before that, taken notice of my interest in (aircraft) simulator games, for which I had recently (and finally!) got a TrackIR system. Totally a game changer! He sent along a premium plane pack for War Thunder, which gives you a kick-ass airplane to tool around in (in my case, a sexy P-51) and some premium time, making your progress through the game's other planes and tanks much faster. (This last one hasn't been redeemed yet because your premium time starts counting down immediately, and [see above] I won't have a chance to play much of anything until post-Christmas.)

Taken together, all of that would have been a damn fine Secret Santa present, and I would've been extremely happy.

But my Santa didn't stop there.

This is one of two locations at which a local flight school teaches aspiring pilots how to fly.

They say [citation required] that the best gift you can get for someone is something that they've always wanted, but would never actually spend the money on for themselves.

Many, many years ago, a much younger, much less wise Elvenshae had a chance to go to flight school and be a pilot - and to be perfectly frank, if not a little maudlin, that had been his dream since he was an even younger, even less wise Elvenshae. Unfortunately, he managed to ruin it for, in retrospect, some pretty trivial reasons. Bad decision piled upon bad decision, and the chance was gone.

In the many years since, I've thought about going back and trying again, but intense jobs, a wonderful wife, beautiful kids, looming deadlines, mortgages and down-payments happened, and there was just never a right time. When life would settle down from one thing, another (to be fair, frequently related to my job) would raise its head and I'd think, "Nah - no time for that right now."

It's been not-the-right-time for 15 years.

So, yes, my Santa got me an introductory flight lesson, based on my gaming history. But, completely unbeknownst to him, he forced me to look again at a dream I had pretty much given up on.

I don't even know how to say thank you for that.

Merry Christmas, @Bloodycow

I'll find a way to record it for posterity. I may or may not edit out me giggling like an idiot the whole time.

03 December 2007

So I am the cheerleader for Secret Santa at my office this year :) So far it's a record year... 17 people! It should be a good time, can't wait to see what everyone does. I have a hard time keeping secrets with stuff like this though, it's too much fun to share who you have with people - lol.

We drew names today, so now I try to figure out who has who... like a mystery show. I know... I'm a dork, but it's exciting (to me anyways) :)

EMULSIVE Secret Santa is simply the most wonderful time of the year. For many of us, it is the absolute highlight of being in this amazing community (at this point we could probably call it a tradition).

The event continues to outdo itself every year – 2017’s event was beyond...

Secret Santa 12k, 10 mile & Half Marathon By Limitless Trails

My wife said I should not use my penis for reference, as there were no bananas to use as a reference for the size of my penis. So trust me, it's huge. Also, I love Toblerone! 2 for 2 Santa, plus if I share a couple of pieces at work, bonus points for buttering up the coworkers!

Now, I have to admit something- My wife got me the exact same set for Christmas( probably because I whined about how much it sucked not picking it up when I had the chance). If only there was a way to repurpose Lego sets and turn them into new creations...

I designed this card to accompany the Secret Santa gift. I used my portrait in the illustration. .

The 13th annual Tacky Gift Exchange. December 13, 2010.

Inspired by tutorial from Roxy Craft. I think it turned out cute!

I did a few things different...painted the base to make sure no styrofoam peeked through, used a less furry yarn, accented with silk flowers and rhinestones and made a card stock star for the top that I embellished with glitter and rhinestones.

I wish I'd discovered the tutorial earlier in the season. Oh well...next Christmas I'll have a great project for handmade gifties.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for the DS. Man, here's another game I really wanted to grab, but couldn't. I can't resist the combination of Spider-Man/combat/2.5D Metroid-style exploration. Damn, that's nice!

An excellent haul to be sure. I was having a very lousy month and my Santa just made it awesome. Let it be known that Urahonky is a most excellent Secret Santa!

Thank you for making my first internet Secret Santa such a cool experience, Urahonky!
