Action from a surprisingly rural Windsor Park as hosts Denton West bat against Flowery Field during a crucial fourth-versus-second late season derby in Division One A of the Great Manchester League. Denton West moved up a place to third, four points behind leaders Moorside, after chalking up a 30-run victory. With three games remaining, Denton West trail second-placed Glodwick only on net run rate. The top two are promoted to the Premier Division, from which Denton West were relegated in 2018.
Professional Semila Seyibokwe wrecked Flowery Field's hopes of reaching their target. The South African pacer took 7-59 to reduce the Hyde-based visitors to 72-7. Ben Mason (39) and Kieran Lawton (20) put on 43 for the eighth wicket. Lawton, to a rather soft catch, was the last man out as Flowery Field fell short. Alex Dolly contributed 20. Earlier, Denton West, opting to bat, slipped to 11-2 as pacer Mike Finan (3-49) struck early blows. Ebrahim Ginwalla (43) and Aaqib Uppal (33) advanced the score to 92 before the third wicket tumbled. The hosts wobbled again, losing four wickets for the addition of just 15 runs, before a strong finish, with Ben Lowndes (19) prominent, enabled them to post a decent total. Mike Burns finished with 4-38 and South African professional Kurtlyn Mannikam 3-20. Twins Jordan (Denton West) and Jamie (Flowery Field) Williams were on opposite sides. Jamie took a smart catch to dismiss his sibling for 10. Jordan is an England Disability international.
Cricket has been played at Windsor Park since 1880, when Reddish Cricket Club were formed. They merged in 1935 with Gorton Cricket Club (founded in 1848) to form Denton West Cricket Club. Gorton's ground was sold for redevelopment. Denton West's most famous product is former England and Lancashire pace bowler Brian Statham. As a teenager, Statham played for Denton West during the 1947 and 1948 seasons. Statham's widow later presented Denton West with one of her late husband's England caps.

Lower Eaton Canyon
California
This is the coldest, darkest section of Eaton Canyon. The rappel lands in deep water, and requires a swim off the rope. Due to the frigid conditions, I was shivering uncontrollably while waiting for the group to finish the descent here, and extremely glad to turn the corner a little later where sunshine entered the canyon again. The waterfall at the very bottom of Eaton canyon sees hundreds or perhaps thousands of visitors a day whose hike stops there at its shallow pool, and who have no clue the canyon continues for miles past that waterfall. After we had descended the entire canyon, and on the non-technical hike out through the crowds of people, our group was asked many sarcastic questions like, "Wow, were the wetsuits really necessary?!"
Yes, strikingly clever individuals, the wetsuits were really necessary.

The books on the left were previously owned by somebody else - those on the right previously *were* somebody else. Sign seen in the very pleasant witchy bookshop on Mill Road in Cambridge - part of the diversity that makes the road distinctive and what it is. [Sadly the shop has since closed]
One of my daughter's close friends is moving house tomorrow (I am helping out so think of me tomorrow, moving boxes and boxes and boxes of stuff). During the big clear up, the friend decided she no longer wanted this electronic keyboard, so it now lives here. This place is turning into a repository for musical instruments and general music paraphernalia. Anyone would think my daughter hopes to pursue a career in music!

So my husband surprised me with a trip to the Olympic Peninsula over the weekend. We had an awesome time and the weather cooperated most of the weekend. I have a lot of reflection shots from the beach so I thought I would start with this one. It got pretty cold after spending over an hour with my feet getting wet. But there was one photographer who went out into the water up to his chest and was taking photos as he was jumping as the waves came in. I was fine with just getting wet up t o my knees.
