Sun starting to set on Cromer beach. The pier has stood since 1901 and is one of only five in the UK with a fully working theatre. Right at the end is the RNLI lifeboat station
Deleted from Flickr by mistake ! Anybody else ever deleted a favourite memory in error ? A deserted Filey beach late in the evening.

Waves crashing on the rocks at Winterton on Sea. 24,000 tonnes of rock have been imported from Norway to bolster sea defences along this stretch of the coast. This is all part of the fight against coastal erosion and in addition to the existing sea walls and sea groynes.
The calm before the storm. On New Year's day the pier at Cromer hosted the annual spectacular fireworks display. Minutes before it was a much more serene picture.

Sea defence near Happisburgh gently buffeted by the waves. The cliffs are eroding at a rate of three metres a year, leaving houses and the famous lighthouse in peril.
Blue sky on the big wheel on Llandudno pier. The ride is 69 feet high and holds up to 108 passengers in 18 gondolas.

This photograph was taken at low tide (1m). During high tide (4.8m) this area is under water.
In the centre of the photograph is Wales oldest pleasure pier. The Royal pier, It has been used to film the series Hinterland (series 1, Episode 1 and 4). I have visited the pier many times over the years.
To the right of that is the Old Collage which is part of Aberystwyth University. Its other buildings include The School of Art, the Campus at Gogerddan, Llanbadarn Campus and the main Campus at Penglais which includes the Art centre and University buildings. The Old Collage was used in Series 1, episode 2 of Hinterland.
The Church on the right is Saint Michael's. The church is located on kings Street which runs behind the Old Collage.
Wishing you a happy weekend. I was in Aberystwyth celebrating a mile stone birthday (mine). I visited the Royal Pier and enjoyed a long walk. A relaxed way to celebrate a birthday.
Admittedly I celebrated it early due to being busy. My birthday is 24th October which incidentally is the same day as the Mount Vesuvius eruptions occurred in 79AD.

Aberystwyth is a beautiful town with a popular university. The town has been a popular tourist location since victorian times. Recently the series Hinterland has been partly filmed in the town.
Picturesque framing of a serene seascape under a dramatic sky with scattered clouds. The water's surface shows subtle ripples reflecting the varying shades of blue from the sky and the deepness of the sea.
A small white boat with an outboard motor is anchored, floating on calm blue water.
In the background, mountains rise from the left side of the frame, extending towards the horizon.The rugged landscape is characteristic of the South Sinai Peninsula.
The overall impression is one of tranquility and natural beauty. The sun's position creates a subtle glow on the clouds and the distant mountains.
The sun came out on a cold Tuesday on the top of Beeston Bump between Sheringham and Cromer. Two hours later it was snowing ! The Bump is famous for Black Shuck a legendary black spectral hound that is said to have inspired Sir Conan Doyle when he was writing Hound of the Baskervilles.
It was also the site of one of a network of Y stations, which gathered data for Bletchley Park by intercepting enemy wireless and radio transmissions in World War Two.

Groynes are a popular form of sea defence on the Norfolk coast. Coastal erosion is a particular problem in Overstrand and along the North Norfolk coast. Predictions of future sea level rise due to climate change are only likely to exacerbate this.
Traditional English seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. It has a pier, sandy beach, lighthouse and brewery (Adnams) and is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. What more could one ask for ?
