A pair of Sandhill Cranes (Grus canadensis) search for waste grain in a harvested grain crop in the agricultural landscape near Simpson, Saskatchewan, Canada in east central part of the province.
Thousands of Sandhill Cranes stop in the province to rest and feed on waste grain as they migrate south for the winter.

Much more of a drastic description than what actually happened. I never really searched for this engine while passing through Orizaba - it found me, twice.
Once on the highway out of town, and then a couple of nights later taking the slow way towards our Hotel. The conductor, or brakeman was waving a flashing on the back of the rear hopper. I had no idea what it was at first, then it became apparent it was train time. A mile or so east of Patio Orizaba this local goes about its duties for the evening.

I was delighted to see this, our smallest bird, weighing in at a mere 5-7g., on a very cold, foggy morning flitting hyperactively from bush to bush in the New Forst as it searched for food to meet its increased energy needs in the sub zero temperature. I love the description of this plump tiny bird as a, "miniature ball of down, with large dark eyes, like peppercorns". ( Birdsong - J. Elphick, J. Peterssen, L. Svensson).

Short Beach is an excellent place to search for wave tumbled agates and jasper. Search the large gravel beds during low tide, especially after a storm. Once polished, the better quality rocks are considered to be semi-precious gemstones.
Sometimes a bit of fancy footwork will dazzle those fish into submission. Lance-A-Lot moves gracefully though the shallow water on Horsepen bayou in search of his next meal. Tri-colored Heron doing a bit of foraging on the bayou.

Recently I did a search for a particular keyword in Lightroom and this picture came up. I was surprised to see the hard drive with the Iceland photos from a few years ago still attached to my computer. I am taking this as a sign to look through these and perhaps post some of them before they disappear into my external hard drive mess.
This waterfall here is really insignificant, considering the more famous big waterfalls in Iceland. Perhaps I like it because of that. It's just by the side of the road, nobody else gave it any thought, not worth stopping for. If you are in Iceland. If it was in my neighbourhood here I would visit frequently.
Looking eastwards along the tracks at Kolumyia train station, in Western Ukraine.
Kolumyia sits on the L'viv-Chernivtsi railway line, a position which has benefited the town's economy since the line was built in the 1800's.
Shot with a Nikon D40 and a Nikkor AFS DX 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6G II lens, and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.

Still; I watch...
As the light sweeps the water's edge like a search light,
exposing those that might escape my watchful eye.
And the clouds slowly pass, as the rain subsides,
now ripples become lost, and reveal all they hide,
Patients now lulls to sleep, the peacefully unaware,

If you look carefully you may be able to see two Hector's Dolphins. These small dolphins are only found in New Zealand's waters and we were so lucky to see them surfing the waves :) One of many special moments we were fortunate enough to experience last year during our month in New Zealand.
