Seamans Beach, Jervis Bay, a panorama stitched together from 12 shots taken with a wide angle lens.
Jervis Bay is renowned for its white sand beaches. Seamans Beach is probably the most famous. It is about 2 km long. At its northern end, is the village of Hyams Beach and at its southern end is HMAS Creswell, training college for the Royal Australian Navy.
On the day the photo was taken the water temperature (24-25 deg C) was warmer than the air temperature.
Taken with my new camera which I primarily got to take macros but the macro lens has not arrived.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments and faves.
Happy weekend!

This star trail is about 70 images which I have added as a separate layer masking out the night sky in this single shot using a LED torch to light paint the foreground which I cut off at the horizon.
Nowadays I use warmer light for light painting

This is Seamans Hut - a real life saver for adventurers in need of a solid shelter.
This panorama actually shares a frame with the photo entitled The Hut of Salvation. When going through my archives cleaning up files in Lightroom, I saw that the other photo was part of a stack which I'd never processed as a pano before. I popped it into PTGui and really liked the results as it shows a bit more of the Ethridge Range, so have shared it with you here. The light that afternoon was just magical and the place was so desolate after several days of blizzards, where myself and my companion were trapped in the hut the entire time, just burning wood and eating down our rations in order to survive. Enjoy.

With 500 beds, a DP3 station keeping system with follow target software installed allowing gangway connection to other floating installations, and a 10-point chain mooring arrangement the vessel is designed to provide maximum flexibility and cost efficiency during worldwide operations in the harshest offshore environments.
The Appalachian Village of Seaman was founded in 1881 when the Cincinnati & Eastern Railroad passed thru Adams County. Named after Franklin Seaman who donated land for a train depot According to the 2020 census, there is zero diversity in Seaman. The original business district is all but abandoned. The Appalachian Highway runs east to west about a mile south of Seaman with a handful of new businesses. A motel and handful of fast foods and a diner are found at the intersection with the highway. Hard to tell what's abandoned and what's occupied in this quiet village.

The 1908 Seaman's Institute of the American Seaman's Friends Society. The neo-Georgian style building is now The Jane,a boutique hotel on Jane St in the Greenwich Village district of Manhattan.William Boring, who co-designed the magnificent Immigration Station on Ellis Island designed the structure which was originally a hotel for sailors. There were cabin-like rooms in the corridors of the building like those on a ship which remain today, except they're outfitted like a cabin cruiser with polished wood and brass. Also,if you look at the bottom of the shot you'll see images of fishes holding on to life preservers. There was once a lighthouse, complete with a beacon,on top of the octagonal tower that was removed by the YMCA when they purchased the building in 1944.The ASFS was a Christian reform organization that sought to help "distressed sailors" by providing them with shelter and introduce "civilizing influences" on them. The society also helped in providing surviving crew members of the RMS Titanic with food, clothing, and a place to sleep at the building while The American inquiry into the Titanic sinking were being conducted there. To see how the Titanic ties into the history of the place, check out the links below .daytoninmanhattan.blogspot.com/2010/06/jane-street-seamen... www.scoutingny.com/the-titanic-guide-to-new-york-city-fro... mobile.nytimes.com/2009/07/19/realestate/19scape.html?ref...
Opened in May 16, 2024 in this small village in Appalachia's Brown County, Ohio. It's the first business, in a long, long time, to open north of the Gov. James A Rhodes Appalachian Highway. Kim and Maher David of West Union are the owners. Opened from 2:00 to 8:00. Maher's family opened their first restaurant in the 1970's and have opened several successful restaurants in Clermont, Brown and Adams Counties. With 793 residents in Seaman it's going to be a challenge.
Seaman's Hut is one of the many shelters built in the high country. It was built following the death of two skiers, W. Laurie Seaman and Evan Hayes in 1928. Laurie's family built the hut to provide shelter to future users of the park, in order to prevent recurrence of a similar tragedy.
Seaman's hut is constructed from rock and has two rooms and a foyer for firewood storage. The floor is plank flooring.
It is located on Etheridge Range, Charlottes Pass on the road to Mount Kosciuszko.
The site on Etheridge Range was chosen by W. H. Seaman, to build a shelter in memory of his son Laurie Seaman, who died of exposure in 1928 at the same location. The hut was officially opened by Mr F. Chaffey, on a Friday 17 May 1929.
Situated approximately 10 klms from Charlotte's Pass on the Main Loop track. A fantastic scenic alpine walk for those who are keen to see the high country!!!!

Certainly has some rural appeal except it's empty and getting overgrown. What is the story of what happened, why they up and left or maybe just passed on to their maker. After 7 years, today, maybe I'll revisit this community and see what happened to this cute little frame house.
Uncle Carleton, aka Patrick, made that tentacle out of copper and set a bunch of rubies into it for his jewelery class.

The Stern (seaman speak) or blunt end (layman speak) of the 143,730 tonne cruise ship MV (Motor Vessel) Britannia moored at the ocean liner cruise ship terminal at the Port of Castries on the Island of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean Sea.
The MV Britannia was built at the Fincantieri yard in Monfalcone Italy and is the flagship of the 'P&O Cruises' line.
The MV Britannia's maiden voyage started on March 14th 2015.
Note the two white and round 'Radomes' located next to the chimney stack on the top deck of the ship. In a past life I used to manufacture internal parts for Marconi Marine Radomes very similar to these.
The satellite dish thingy inside a Radome is attached to a gyroscope so no matter how rough the sea is the dish inside is permanently locked onto the satellite in outer space.
A Radome should not be confused with a radar which is something different. Radomes are generally used for all type of data connections including Immarsat, the internet, telephone calls, satellite television etc.
