Bumped into Herman on a shell covered beach in the Maldives while he was out for a stroll. He told me had just moved into his new house, and had named it Michelle. (yes it's a bad pun sorry ;)

Fun fact: Hermit crabs kept together will fight or kill a competitor to gain access to the shell they like. And I thought the real estate market was tough here!

Happy weekend out there!

Haunting translucent ghost jellyfish float through the depths of this aquarium in blissful peace.

I was exploring rock pools on a exposed rock ledge at low tide one afternoon in January, 2005, when I came across this stranded Electric Stingray. I didn't touch it and was content to take a few photos.

Later a neighbour and commercial fisherman identified it for me. He said they deliver a powerful electric shock if touched. A search online revealed they can deliver a shock ranging from 8 to 220 volts. I'm glad to have let this one get away.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a weekly challenge called “Snap Happy”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each week, and the image is to be posted on the Monday of the week.

This week the theme, “I spy with my little eye, something beginning with an S” was chosen by Laszlo,Laszlo Papinot.

I thought a selection of shells from my miniature shell collection to remind us of summertime might be nice. What was fun about creating this photo was the addition of the sand. I live no-where near the beach, so I had to improvise with some golden sugar in place of the sand.

Another one of my "found" photos from a hard drive that failed. I took the hard drive to Best Buy and was able to retrieve four years of photos.

My favorite picture of this day. Unretouched. No filters or apps used. The glow I think comes from the fluorescent lamps.

"New Beginnings" by artist P.L. Carrillo at the Largo Public Library in Largo, Florida.

Once I landed on a virgin beach - the home of millions of red crabs all over. Running after these little ones and catching them was too much fun. Never seen a crab so close and Oh My God Loved it all. Starred at her for some time and caught her through my third eye. Cherishing and sharing those memories.

hello, dear flickr friends!

White translucent jellyfish

Sea urchins, are typically spiny, globular animals, echinoderms in the class Echinoidea. About 950 species live on the seabed, inhabiting all oceans and depth zones from the intertidal to 5,000 metres. Their tests are round and spiny, typically from 3 to 10 cm across. When they die, they leave behind some of the most beautifully coloured and patterned shells which are so delicate and fragile that you have to be so careful with them when you transport them.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a weekly challenge called “Snap Happy”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each week, and the image is to be posted on the Monday of the week.

This week the theme, “patterns in nature” was chosen by Cheryl,

It seemed most appropriate to use this wonderful collection of sea urchin shells that I have, with their stripes and nobbles, to represent the theme for this week.

These jellyfish are found in the bays, lagoons, and harbors of the South Pacific Ocean. Very cool looking creature!
