Time at the NSW Art Gallery is always great. First time for us in the new section and very impressed as expected. The big chrome Cook statue has been moved into a much lighter space where the mirror finish leaps into life. Also a nice chance to give the reborn Tak 35 an outing.

Thopha saccate, the largest Australian species of cicada and said to be the loudest insect in the world. It's at its teneral stage, when it has recently molted and its exoskeleton is yet to harden and get its final colouration. It’s on a Scribbly-gum tree (Eucalyptus haemastoma).

This building, which is entirely covered with these scribbles, is not residential. I was in a hurry and just managed to get off a couple of shots before catching a bus on 16th Street.
