My friend Merrill finished piecing her EPP star quilt. Isn't it lovely? she wrote a guest blog post about it for me, click here.

I made this quilt using scraps left over from my string quilt. Same fabrics, different look! Blogged here.

All done and the binding will be in the black to match the on point square in the background. Really love this :) Pictures & comments are in Piecing 2012 Set 1.

Thanks to everyone who left a comment. With so much interest in this quilt I've created a Colorway Quilt Flickr Group, if you create one, please give me some eye candy!

Yesterday morning I finished hand quilting my scrap quilt. I was impatient to go back to the old barn for a photo shoot. But then I made the mistake to take along three quilts and a young dog. To cut a long story short, it was a tiring hiking tour.

If you found my flickr page from the Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy's Creative Side, welcome. I took a lot of photos while making this quilt - from the scrap pile at the very beginning to the finished quilt. You can find them in the Scrap Attack Quilt-Along set. Have fun!

Need an honest opinion from the quilting pool - nice quilt or too busy? I made it as a birthday gift for someone who isn't particularly quilty and am now having second thoughts...

I always enjoy making the boxes - scrappy ones are really fun! The name came from the fact that the little boxes, which finish at two and a half inches, made me think of a bunch of little kids running around:) For the other boxes, I just made up sizes that would work with the little boxes and also that used the sizes of strips and squares that I have.

The wise old saying "Waste not, Want not" is attributed to Benjamin Franklin one of the founding fathers of the US. This saying & scrap quilts date back to colonial days. Scrap quilts are made of at least 75 different fabrics from a quilter's scrap bag. I pieced & quilted this quilt from a traditional pattern as a 25th anniversary gift for a family member. My cat managed to get into the shot as well :)

personal scrap challenge quilt...pulled some scraps from 3 scrap buckets and made myself make something from those scraps. inspired by those urban, community gardens.

Another fun method for using up strip scraps. There is no shortage of these cause there is no shortage of scraps. Made for The Linus Connection.

Designed, pieced, and appliqued by Adrienne Smitke; Machine quilted by Dawna Callahan

Really enjoyed making this! Used Heat and Bond for the circles and then machine appliqued using a blanket stitch and invisible thread. The fun was in picking through my five inch and three and a half inch squares to get the value progression. That is a lot of Heat and Bond, but, the good thing is .....one could nap in the rain while covered with this!

I'd been wanting to work with pink and orange for some time. After I did The Square Family Reunion, I decided that would be a good design for mixing a whole bunch of pinks and oranges, with a scattering of white. As I worked, sometimes a combination that I was sewing together would draw a "Yikes!" from me, thus the name :) Once together, the top became a favorite of mine!

An improvisational baby quilt made entirely from scraps-- many of them quite tiny!

My "World Traveler" scrappy trips is done at last! Best photo so far: 96"x96", too big to hold up and too heavy for the clothesline (but wonderful to sleep under!).

Still hoping to get a straight-on shot: this one taken by standing on the coffee table and holding camera as high as my arms would reach. Missing a row or two at top and bottom, but you get the idea.

I've posted a tutorial on how I quilted this large top in sections on my home machine.

This is actually TWO layers, a quilt top AND a quilt backing. It's 67" x 90" right now. This could be done, but I may come back and add another row to each, maybe making it 77" x 90". We'll see how I feel and what's left in my scrap bin. About a bajillion different fabrics - and some from a dozen cool friends.

This is the string quilt I made for my sister. I chose to use sashing in Kona Snow between the blocks instead of putting them all together. I really wanted to keep this one!

Scrap quilt with double four patches: more than 2000 little squares mostly from my scrap bin / the smallest squares are 1" finished size and the larger squares are 2" finished size / hand quilted with diagonal lines / quilt size: 166 x166 cm / started in August 2012 and finished in February 2013

All done! The binding will match the border fabric. Pictures and comments in Piecing 2011 Set 2.

All done and the binding will be in black. There are fifty, six and a half inch blocks of twelve different block designs, all made from different size squares and strips of solids that I've cut over the years. So nice to have such a collection of different colors to work with and I still have more! I think this top used the scraps well :) Pictures & comments in Piecing 2013 Set 1.
