I've wanted one of these coconut scrapers, since I saw one on the Battle Coconut episode of Iron Chef America.

The scraper used in removing latex from the groove made in the rubber tree is fashioned from a piece of pith from the banana tree stem.

In addition to parades the Oxen have competed in Oxen pulls and have won many awards. They also have been used to show the younger generation how fields were plowed. As you saw in the larger cart, that said Santo Antao, Joseph Texiera in the parade, it was taken in the parade by Carlos Sousa. (another Sao Jorge immigrate) You saw the men struggle putting it into the trailer, in additon to the weight of the cart, it also carried various plows and tools used to mintain the fields.
When Joseph Texeira asked the men to attend the event in Lovelock they all were excited and proud to go and share part of their heritage.
