everything from new kit by Fiddlette from Scrapartist

Art Journal Collection Four

Yes this pic is one of the worst I have taken- hate self portraits- this was before I got my DSLR and understood anything about exposure! LOL The lovely and talented Maria tagged me. Check out her stream- it is amazing!

Now the boring bits-

10 things about me

1. I am a child of the King- Jesus is everything to me. I came to know Him when I was 7 and He has always been there. I have tested His word and found it to be true. Matt Redman says it best , "You never let go

Through the calm and through the storm-Oh no, You never let go-In every high and every low,Lord, You never let go of me"

2. I am a 48yo SAHM of a 19yo DS, 16yo DD and a 3yo DS (surprise).

3. I received a college scholarship to attend any school in Illinois which paid room and board too.

4. I graduated college with highest honors(with God's help!), went 6 years , took honors classes and my GPA was 4.98 out of 5. (I took a river rafting trip and got a B - but it was worth it! ;o))

5. I have a BSN degree from the University of Texas and am a registered nurse with a specialty in trauma nursing.

6. I was Head nurse of a 26 bed ICU and on call I was Assistant Nursing Director over 7 ICU's , recovery room and Burn ICU. Was the youngest one they ever had. lol Now -staying at home is the hardest job I have ever had!

7. lisadozknit- well my other hobby is knitting and do all kinds. I taught lessons for the community at our local library for quite a while.

8. My Dh prayed for a wife and got me- his mom and mine worked at the state together, my mom sent pics home with my now MIL and my DH flew to Texas to meet me from IL. He told me after he got off the plane that he was going to marry me- (I thought yeah right bucko- you are nuts!-do not know you!)

Well I did and moved back to IL! God has a sense of humor!

9. I entered a Scrapartist contest for graphic design- ( it was over a month). Out of hundreds of contestants I made it to the end and was 1 of 4 who sold their design kit in the store. I ended up selling over 500 kits for 1 buck each!

It was the first kit I ever designed! LOL I then was hired and sold my stuff at DSAG for over a year until my Mom got ill.

10. Things I enjoy: hearing my little one tell me he loves me, taking walks, coffee, praise and worship, reading , making new friends, altered art, collecting camera lenses ;o) , shooting flowers !

If you made it through- you need an award!

I will be tagging 10 people!

[What you're supposed to do is list 10 things that people may or may not know about you, but they have to be true. Tag 10 people, let them know they are tagged, and remember to link back to the person who tagged you. Post a picture on your stream and list your 10 things and 10 tagged people.]

I had something different planned for today, but after seeing Emilie378's upload this morning, I just had to scraplift it! I like this design so much better than the 2-page summary spread I did at the end of the May challenge. So, on this the final day of the October LOAD, I can proudly say that I completed not one, but TWO layouts :)

The journaling is about how Rebeca and her uncle (my brother) are alike. They both are pure souls and enjoy the simple things in life.

Shot in RAW. Several adjustments in ACR, added an action by Florabella from her color & haze action set as well as a commercial overlay (probably from Scrapartist).

When my Father in Law died, my DH and I inherited generations of stuff; from the furniture to the china to the paperwork of living. But then there were the more personal items, a rosary worn smooth from years of morning prayers, pocket knives that were contoured to fit the hand that used them for decades, pocket watches that no longer work but were still held dear, thimbles that helped mend something for every member of the family, button jars, treasured photos whose stories and people can no longer be recalled. It is these little mementos that mean the most to me, these that were held most often by those we loved, these that beckon back the owners hands, their skin, the way their fingers moved, the touch of their skin. I have these vignettes tucked all over our house, hopefully out of harms way of errant playing ball in the house, but where I can see them and feel connected to the generations and lives before.

Embellies used are from Fiddlette - seed packet and bird card; sherrieJD -Background and other papers; Dianne Rigdon - tags; Nancie Rowe Janitz - lace, stitching, and tab. The orchid and daylily photos are mine. The digital images of stitching are of amazing quality!!!

Digital travel journal page created in the style of Mary Ann Moss. She creates pages from paper and fabric empherma, then sewing machine stitches them together. Collections of pages are then sewn into travel journals, which she carries with her for writing her thoughts and experiences - pockets like the seed packets are used to store memorabilia.

This page has always been one of my favorites - like I had taken a photo of a real life page of paper, lace and stitching - all due to the lovely quality of embellies used, of course!! It's just so cottagey and Somerset!! I brought it out from 'storage' - it's inspired me to create more and, also, a real physical Art Journal!!! Originally created for a Challenge in June 2010 for ScrapArtist, which is no longer in existence.

Journaling-

Every anniversary in a couple's life

is a symbolic marker of commitment,

adventure and love. With each passing

year, the bond strengthens, fortified

by all the shared experiences a year

can carry. Anniversaries, therefore,

are a time to stop and realize the

salience of a marriage; they are a

time to let your spouse know that

one is cherished.

I made a digital collage, then used gel medium to transfer it to a gesso'd canvas. I used acrylic paints around the edges, stamping some writing onto it with paint also, then glued on the garter clips and ribbon. I put a hint of glitter on her wings, but that doesn't capture on film. I sealed the collage with microwax.

The words on the bottom read: "Escape leave it all behind"

Journaling:

Sometimes in the afternoon, you have too much energy to be contained within the house. You start bouncing off the walls. It’s moments like this that I’m so glad that you love to be outside and so glad we have a small playground or “tot lot” across the street. Today you carried a colorful, plastic, springy, bouncy toy with you that acted like a yo-yo with your movements. You loved jumping with it on the slide platform and pushing it down the slide ahead of you and then picking it up and running back to the stairs. At one point, you looked quite crazed about it. But a little slide mania sure made for some fun photos.

Our moments

When you... wake up, eat your breakfeast, get dressed all by yourself, brush your teeth, wash your face, give me a hug, a strong one and many many kisses says goodbye and go to school with Daddy. Smile, your eyes sparke, look tired, you say I was 'lated', you grab my hand, change sides with me cause you know I teached you a long time ago to stay inside the sidewalk, ask me to go to the bathroom, show me your tongue just for a cool picture, ask for your doll, play with Mina, dress like Snow White, write your name, cuddle in bed with me, call me mummy, play with my hair, dance, sing, ride the bike, play with dough, tell me stories, help me do the beds, talk to your grandmas, and everything else... everything we do, is the best moment of my day... everything I watch you do is the best sight of my day... but then there is THAT moment... when YOU look at me... And I know I exist.

This is DH with DS and DD1. It was both kids' first time on this ride. I was more anxious for them than they were. In the end, they both enjoyed it. DD1 just did not like the fact that she got wet! LOL!

You might say I chose this song because Porcelain usually is white, but it’s not just that...

It also (and mostly) has to do with the feeling I get listening to this music.

It’s so peacefull and soothing.

I have many favorite songs and this is definetely into my Top 10.

Journaling (in Portuguese):

"Amo nossos passeios de metrô!

Adoro quando exploramos juntos nossa cidade, quando somos turistas em casa."

Journaling Reads:

Block 1: We were getting our chores done when I had an urge to start \ throwing the socks I was folding at Cody. We’d been having snowball fights on the Wii since Christmas. So, naturally, that’s what we called our sock fight. We don’t get snow here- at least not often- and it was the closest we were going to get. We had a great time throwing socks at each other and showing off our duck and diving skills from playing the Wii. When it was all said and done we had “snow” (a.k.a socks) everywhere.

Block 2: Little did we know in January, we’d get over 12 inches of snow in one night. But, we did. That meant, among other things, a real snow ball fight! It was so much colder than our indoor snowball fight. We relished every minute of the snow outside whether it was playing in it or just taking in the winter wonderland in our yard. We knew that even though the snow lingered for the next couple of days, it would be a long time before we saw snow again- especially this much.

Block 3: And then it happened, again! This is still East Texas, right? So much for global warming. We didn’t get as much overnight and it didn’t make for another full snow day, but it was still beautiful. This time, we the sun was shining when we awoke and the beautiful sunrise really made for quite a sight. We still couldn’t believe we got a light blanket of snow for the second time this year. In years past we would have been super impressed to get this much snow, but after the last snowfall, it just lost a little of it spark.

Block 4: Would you believe it? We actually saw snow one more time. This was about all there was to it but it snowed most of the day. I missed it when Cody told me it was snowing outside that morning, I suppose I was oblivious. When we headed out to church, it took me a minute to process what was coming down, then I exclaimed “It’s snowing.” Cody laughed. We lit a fire in the fireplace and took breaks from working on deer lease stuff to go check out the snow outside our windows. It wouldn’t snow again.

Tanto aconteceu...
