24 Hit Songs About Climate Change & Global Warming in 2023

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

“A horizontal version of lunar modular living and working quarters for use in the ‘Man on the Moon’ program. Conceived by scientists and engineers of the Lockheed Missiles & Space Company, Sunnyvale, California, each module is eighteen feet in diameter. Each is fully equipped and self-sufficient except for electrical power which is supplied from a remote nuclear power source. Solar flare protection chambers are provided at the base of the modules.” [From the accompanying description]

“The Apollo Suit, as it has evolved, is really an integrated series of garments, several separate layers in all. The first layer is a liquid-cooled undergarment circulating cool water through small tubes in direct contact with the skin. The second layer is the pressure garment, or the actual suit assembly. Because the soft pressure garment tends to take a spherical shape when pressurized, a variety of over-sized joints are built to provide mobility. Covering the pressure suit is a micrometeoroid-protection garment composed of lightweight materials arranged to provide as much protection as a thin sheet of aluminum. Finally, there is a thermal over-garment composed of many thin layers of super-insulation with a white synthetic fabric as an outer layer.

“The Apollo Suit weights almost fifty pounds. The backpack, with its radio, medical-sensing devices, oxygen supply and ventilation, weighs another sixty-five pounds. You end up with a well-protected – and overloaded – space explorer.” [From the text]

Scientific knowledge is a body of statements of varying degrees of certainty--some most unsure, some nearly sure, none absolutely certain.

Richard P. Feynman

The book is fully illustrated, features a nicely condensed history of the space program up to 1967, and comes in a 64-page softcover format. The “Science Service” was a nonprofit organization founded in 1921 by journalist E. W. Scripps and zoologist William Emerson Ritter. Its mission was to make scientific knowledge accessible to the public, especially young readers and educators. It later became known as Society for Science, which still publishes “Science News” today. It was deeply involved in promoting science literacy during the Cold War era, when public interest in space and technology surged.

The “Science Program” label on the book refers to a series of educational publications produced in collaboration with Science Service and commercial publishers like Nelson Doubleday. They were not strictly school textbooks, but they were designed to be classroom-friendly and were often used in school libraries, science clubs, and enrichment programs. Many were sold through mail-order book clubs, such as the Science Program Book Club, which offered affordable science books to families and educators.

----------------------------------------------------

The opening paragraph of “Man in Space” is a glorious slice of Cold War-era space enthusiasm. Although exaggerated, it is emotionally honest to its time:

"OUR VAST NEW FRONTIER --All of us living today are witnesses to one of the greatest adventures of this or any other century. Hundreds of years from now historians will be looking back to the 1960s as the most thrilling age of exploration since Columbus led the way across the mysterious 'Ocean Sea' to the New World five centuries ago. This time the frontier is not the ocean, but space . . ."

For a science book aimed at sparking wonder, it’s a powerful opener. It sets the tone not just for factual content, but for a cultural moment when space was a canvas for hope and ambition. While the 1960s were thrilling, historians now view the space race as just one chapter in a much longer story of technological evolution, which includes the digital revolution, genomic mapping, or even deep sea discoveries.

7 Chakras: Been There Done That

7 chakras, as they are being presented in front of the world as an esoteric package, are far from common sense apprehension, what to say of their comprehension as a discipline to follow.

In my opinion, it is so because the ones who are presenting, or say,...

There was no caption or label beside this unevenly lit glass case with two human manequins in it, but from the look of it, it appears to be cavemen putting together a painting inside a cave. (which probably explains the poor lighting and the guy kneeling down holding up a light source. Cavemen often painted figures of animals they use, animals they hunt and other aspects of their culture inside caves, in the absence of any other recording medium in those primitive days. But wherever intact, these paintings do give us an invaluable insight into things that were in those days. (Chandigarh, north India, Nov. 2017)

A slightly farther view of the map showing plate tectonics in the natural history wing of the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh. Notes about plate tectonics around India appeared in the previous caption. ( was running a little short of time, as I had spent too much time over the paintings and sculptures and I was rushing through this rather small natural history section, so I inadvertently missed photographing the captions an labels pertaining to this picture- my apologies for that. Detailed notes about the Chandigarh museum appear earlier in this album. (see previous pictures earlier in this album). (Chandigarh, north India, Nov. 2017)

There was no caption to this painting in the natural history museum in Chandigarh apart from the label 'Mousterian burial'. I could not get any more einformation about this. Later, referring to Wikepedia, I gathered that Mouseterian refers to humans in one particular era or block of time. According to Wikipedia, the Mousterian largely defines the latter part of the Middle Paleolithic, the middle of the West Eurasian Old Stone Age. It lasted roughly from 315,000 BP to 35,000-30,000 BP. Detailed notes about the Chandigarh Museum and Art Galleary appear earlier in this album. (see previous pictures). (Chandigarh, north India, Nov. 2017)

My word, this exhibit in the natural history section of the Chandigarh Museum and Art Gallery really had my jaw drop. These are the fossilized remains of the Wooly Mammoth, then now extinct predecessor to the elephant as we know the animal today. (broadly speaking- there might have been biological differences which I do not know as I am not a zoologist). The central chunk seems to be portions of the jaw bone the Wolly Mammoth, judging from the teeth on top. More details can be had from the sign/ label set below the exhibit, which is fairly self explanatory if viewed in expanded or full screen mode. (Chandigarh, north India, Nov. 2017)

In a building adjoining the one with all those paintings and sculptures you just saw (see previous pictures in this album) in the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh is the Natural History Museum. It left a bit to be desired in the organization department and lighting was a bit patchy, like in most of the smaller museums worldwide. On the first level of the Natural History Museum is this map showing the tectonic plates around India. India apparently moved due to plate tectonics and collided against the rest of Asia which led to the upward compression of large tracts of earth which formed the mighty Himalayan mountain range. (Chandigarh, north India, Nov. 2017)

In the natural history wing of the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh is this large painting showing a chance encounter between two species of ancient man- Australopethicus and Paranthropus. Frankly I'd not heard about these species before and so it was quite an education. And judging from the pose of the humans in the painting, the encounter probably did not end well! Tragically, despite all the fantastic developments man has gone through as he evolved into what he is today, war mongering is something that man has not given up entirely on. Or is it only the USA which goes into meaningless wars all over the world by bullying weaker nations under the garb of spreading 'democracy and freedom'? (Chandigarh, north India, Nov. 2017)

Signage under the large painting you saw earlier in this album (see previous picture) showing what appears to be a not too friendly encounter between two early species of man. The label is fairly self explanatory if viewed in full screen or expanded mode and detailed notes appear earlier in this album as well. (see previous picture). Man has evolved and has seen fantastic growth and development since then to become what he is today. Unfortunately only the USA seems to have still retained man's war mongering tendencies, if their meaningless wars worldwide under the garb of spreading 'democracy and freedom' is any indication! As I was exiting the natural history section and indeed the Government Museum and Art Gallery itself, I came across this section illustrating dinosaurs of various periods by means of small models. Well, the information contained in this section might have been fairly good, but considering the huge, life- sized dinosaur models you find nowadays in most parts of the world, with skeletons several floors high, I found this exhibit a bit underwhelming. So that's it then from the Chandigarh Museum- thank you for your patience. Detailed notes about the museum appear in earlier captions in this album. (see previous pictures).
