I didn't ride yesterday because my Bianchi was messed up. I could have ridden one of my other bikes but I didn't feel like it so I took the train. Last night I stopped by Boulevard Bikes and Mary got my bike in perfect working condition. Turns out I had a bent derailleur hanger - whoops! That would do it. Anyway, I had an AWESOME ride to work today - I rode like the wind!! But that may have been because there was a slight tailwind too. :)
I am now officially one week drug free from pain meds for my sciatica. I really think the no/low coffee and extra water is what did it. I'm also trying to stretch more regularly too as all my leg muscles (on both legs) are really tight but I can't seem to make progress. I'm still getting mild to moderate pains - yesterday was pretty bad and I almost took medication but powered through. As an afterthought, I was wondering if my lack of riding yesterday had anything to do with my increased pain. Hmmm.... I think I'll keep riding!

Sciatica:
Sciatica refers to pain felt along the length of the sciatic nerve. The pain is usually felt in the buttocks, where it radiates down the leg. If you suddenly start feeling pain in your lower back or hip that radiates to the back of your thigh and into your leg, you may have a protruding (herniated) disc in your spinal column that is pressing on the roots of the sciatic nerve. This condition is known as sciatica.
