The iconic Boathouse row in Philadelphia is lit up in red white and blue for the DNC Convention this week. Philly is the host city. There were quite a few photographers at this location last night snapping clicks of the boat houses and their vibrant lights.
Enjoy the Day~!
The night skyline of downtown Philadelphia as seen from the South Street Bridge over the Schuylkill River.
Business took me up I-95 to Philadelphia for a one-day user tech conference, so I added a photo stop while I was at it. I was concerned with the rain forecast, and it sure was cold enough, but I lucked out to get there in a period of no rain.

Yes, I had to look up the spelling. Roaming around Philadelphia near Boathouse Row and the Art Museum.
Arches of the Strawberry Mansion bridge over the Schuylkill River along Kelly Drive. Mariel took this image on the point & shoot.
I took this photo while I was in the Liberty Schuylkill River Cruise boat, in movement. (Best in Large)

"Three slim angels concentrate raptly on their music as they hover above the grass along Kelly Drive. The work of Swedish-born artist Carl Milles, they are casts from a group of five originals from the Millesgarden in Stockholm, where they overlook that city’s harbor. Milles’ style combined conservative, pictorial elements with a poetic and popular spirit. His characteristically slender figures often have a childlike innocence and vulnerability that make them immediately appealing to the public." Source: Association for Public Art, Philadelphia"

Abandoned railroad Swing Bridge over the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The existing structure, owned by Conrail, is a railroad swing bridge constructed for the Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad and previously carried heavy rail road freight across the Schuylkill River. The rail line was abandoned and the swing bridge had been locked in the open position since 1976 to allow maritime traffic to travel north of the bridge on the Schuylkill River.
The waterworks in the immediate middle ground once provided the water supply to the City of Philadelphia. It is now a restaurant. The Philadelphia Art Museum is in the far middle ground on the hill, and houses a world famous collection of art. Both the waterworks and the art museum are must see places if you are visiting the city. Image taken at sunset (wish there were a few more clouds in the sky)!
We are getting closer to the weekend! Thanks for stopping by~!
9th-century boathouses line the Schuylkill River, Philadelphia, PA. This photo is from the Liberty boat in movement on the Schuylkill River Cruise. At the left you can see the air balloon of the Philly Zoo. (Best in Large)
An iconic scene. The rowing crews store their boats and equipment on the ground floor of the boathouses. Often meeting rooms and other facilities are on the upper stories. The cable with the dangling ropes is designed to remind the unwary crew that they are approaching the waterfall over the dam at the Art Museum.
A view of Philadelphia, PA from the South Street bridge, looking Northeast along the Schuylkill river. Home of the Superbowl LII Champion Philadelphia Eagles!

Image acquired on the eve of the championship parade. Shot turned out more difficult than anticipated... collapsable tripod was too short, bridge rail was curved and it was very windy.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art sun-kissed by the day's last orange glow. The Art Museum is one of my favorite buildings in Philadelphia to photograph. Stately, historic, powerful, and architecturally beautiful. Please view large for best detail ~
I know some of you may be thinking if I have given up on birds. Absolutely no! Birds are my first photographic passion, and images are forthcoming.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend ~
