The September 20th 2019 Forster Tuncurry march for action on climate amelioration was part of a global student day of action led by 16 year old student and Swedish Climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The march commenced in Forster's town centre with around 300 participants peacefully marching across the Wallis Lake Bridge to John Wright Park in Tuncurry. The sounding of car horns as the marchers crossed the long bridge was a interpreted as a show of support by passing motorists.

Although unlike many other marches around the world the march was held after school hours but still attracted many concerned students. A similar march in Taree in the morning during school hours attracted double the number of participants.

Once the marchers assembled in John Wright Park in Tuncurry they were addressed by various speakers with the final speaker being David West, the mayor of Mid Coast Council. The newly elected deputy mayor, Claire Pontin was also present.

Across Australia and the world the march was exceptionally well supported however some commentators chose to attack Greta Thunberg personally for her resolute and determined actions as the face of global student protest at the lack of action from many governments around the world.

The government leaders of Australia, Scott Morrison, and the US, Donald Trump, found it more important to attend other functions instead of the UN's Climate meeting being held in New York on the same day.

Global warming is no fiction.

Respect to all the young and old climate marchers.

There are many haters of the current #youthforclimate movement on the social media.. and those haters are usually the 1st ones to complain about the heatwaves, floodings, storm winds, drought, monsoonlike rain, extreme weather, dirty beaches and all the other examples of the changing climate and the environmental degradation.

Humanity is responsible for both so humanity should work towards solutions and the young are the engine of change.
