It's with much appreciation I post this for you, my Flickr friends. I hope you enjoy the contrast here. Happy week end, all.
Migrating Gadwall, we only see them here once or twice a year when they are migrating. Where male ducks sport gleaming patches of green, red, or blue, the Gadwall's understated elegance can make this common duck easy to overlook. Gadwalls breed mainly in prairie potholes—small ponds scattered throughout the Great Plains and Canadian prairies. Some also breed on tundra, deltas, and wetlands in boreal forests of the far north. In developed areas with few natural ponds, Gadwall may use stock ponds.
This was taken in the area we float down to and then turn around to motor back to camp.
You can see by all the scattered salmon remains on the riverbanks that this is a popular spot.
The water is shallow, the salmon near death and exhausted and this is primarily where the larger boars fish.
You can see this big guy must have gotten into a tussle with another bear by the bite mark on his shoulder.
During our trip to lake Tisza, we were lucky enough to see around a dozen breeding pairs of Whiskered Terns. These birds choose to make their flimsy nests among the floating vegetation on the surface of the water. Due to this rather precarious practice, they’re continually carrying out running repairs & are always on the look out for suitable building materials. A handful of cut reed-tops, scattered over the surface, certainly drew their attention & soon had them swooping down to collect them. I captured this guy just as he was coming in to land with his prize.

The "Walberla" is an ancient magic hill in central Franconia and hosts the eldet sprig celebration of Germany.
The St. Walpurgis festival is held in May and the same named chapel the center of that event. Always worth to visit.

The birds were all lined up on the beach and it reminded me of that Hitchcock classic film. I had fun chasing them along the shore with my friend Nigel who got a similar shot!
Drifting, wafting, gliding…
My thoughts are as free as the petals that dance so gently…
“Where has he drifted to” I find myself asking…
Another lost to the world beyond my flowery world
The eastern side of South Harris is wild and rocky: very different from the west with its fantastic white sand beaches, and the houses are more scattered. The two halves compliment each other making it such a fascinating place to visit.
The house in the shot is where we stayed for 6 nights & belongs to friends of ours who have done much of the work themselves.
And if you think that the distant mountains bear a resemblance to my previous upload flic.kr/p/2qLfT82,
you're spot-on since they are mountains of North Harris!
...the weather forecast isn't always right ;-)

Need much more of this, record heat and very dry. A 3:1 panorama taken with a Canon R5 and merged in Lightroom.
