La murale "Wolf" ornant le mur latéral d’un bâtiment situé au Laugavegur 35, près de l’intersection avec la rue Vatnsstígur, à Reykjavik, capitale de l’Islande.
Cette fresque a été créée en 2015 lors du Wall Poetry Project. Elle a été peinte par Elle, une artiste américaine en visite, et a été inspirée par la chanson Tuttugu og Eitthvað du groupe de hip hop local Úlfur Úlfur. Cette image semble représenter une elfe dans la peau d'un loup, hurlant, avec deux autres loups à ses côtés.
La rue Laugavegur est l'artère commerciale principale du centre-ville de Reykjavík et l'une des rues commerçantes les plus anciennes et possède une partie piétonne près du vieux centre. Le nom signifie "route de lavage", car jadis les femmes de Reykjavík (signifiant Smoky Bay ou Baie de fumée) l'empruntaient pour aller faire leur lessive dans les sources chaudes aujourd'hui situées dans Laugardalure Park.
Construite en 1885, elle a connu des revers économiques au cours des dernières années, principalement en raison de l'augmentation de la popularité des centres commerciaux. Elle conserve le charme d'une rue commerçante historique et présente plusieurs fresques et éléments décoratifs pittoresques. Il est également de nombreux bars, discothèques et restaurants. Le vendredi et le samedi soir la rue est souvent remplie de gens toute la nuit.

Snow buntings are large buntings, with striking 'snowy' plumages. Males in summer have all white heads and underparts contrasting with a black mantle and wing tips. Females are a more mottled above. In autumn and winter birds develop a sandy/buff wash to their plumage and males have more mottled upperparts.
Globally, they breed around the arctic from Scandinavia to Alaska, Canada and Greenland and migrate south in winter. They are a scarce breeding species in the UK, in Scotland, making them an Amber List species. They are more widespread in winter in the north and east when residents are joined by continental birds.
They are listed under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act.

Malmö, Sweden
Turning Torso is a neo-futurist residential skyscraper in Sweden and the tallest building in Scandinavia. Located in Malmö on the Swedish side of the Öresund strait, it was built and is owned by HSB Sweden.
Une clôture colorée du quartier Christiania qui longe la rue Sydområdet, à København (Copenhague), la capitale du Danemark. C'est un quartier de Copenhague autoproclamé « ville libre de Christiania », fonctionnant comme une communauté intentionnelle autogérée, fondée en septembre 1971 sur le terrain de la caserne de Bådsmandsstræde par un groupe de squatters, de chômeurs et de hippies.
Ce quartier est une rare expérience historique libertaire toujours en activité en Europe du Nord. Christiania a créé son propre drapeau, comportant trois points jaunes sur fond orange, ou inversement, représentant les points des trois « i » de Christiania. Il aurait été créé par Viktor Essmann, également créateur du nom de la communauté, choisi en référence à « Christianshavn » (le port de Christian IV).
En 2003, la cité comptait près de 1 000 habitants sur 34 hectares, possédait sa propre monnaie et toutes sortes d'activités culturelles et sportives, ainsi qu'un vaste espace agricole. Le quartier a été l'objet de multiples controverses. La vente du cannabis y est toujours pratiquée à l'air libre. Son statut légal est également la cause de conflits et de négociations. La vente et consommation de drogues dures quant à elles sont interdites et punies par le bannissement temporaire dans un premier temps puis définitif s'il y a récidive.

Viking ships functioned as the centerpiece of Scandinavian culture for centuries. Scandinavia is a region with easy access to coastal ports. Consequently, trade routes primarily operated via shipping, as inland trading was both hazardous and cumbersome. Viking kingdoms thus developed into coastal cities, all of which were deeply dependent on the North Sea for survival and development.
Control of the waterways was then of critical importance, and consequently the most advanced war ships were in high demand. In fact, because of their overwhelming importance, ships became a mainstay of the Viking pagan religion, as they evolved into symbols of power and prowess.

Just back home after an amazing 10 day trip around Scandinavia. With a group of other great photo-togs and led by David Clapp and Antony Spencer. Will do a full blog write up later. Off to go pick up the pooch and go for a long walk. It has been a long couple of last days. Last night no sleep just shooting Aurora all night (temps from -25 to -37 C) then 3 flights yesterday and driven from Heathrow this morning. Bushed!

Geiranger Church, Geiranger, Norway
Geiranger Church is an octagonal church built in 1842 in timber, seating 120. The architect was Hans Klipe. The church bell dates from 1899. An organ was installed in 1906, but was replaced in 1964.
The first bridge over the Frognerdammen canal was built in 1914 and led to an exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the Norwegian Constitution. The modern bridge uses only its supports.
Reconstruction of the bridge was carried out from 1918 to 1930, during this period, four columns with sculptures depicting the struggle of a man with dragons were erected at its corners
Most of the 58 sculptures are dedicated to the theme of family, the relationship between parents and children.
