Especially for Sliders Sunday group, but lots of other artsy and painterly groups and also fall and autumn groups. This is about 57th & Main St. in Springfield, Lane County, Oregon USA.
I took this shot with my new Nikon Coolpix B500 camera, but when I put it in a photo program or two to *slide* it, it lost the EXIF Data. I shot the original this afternoon on Main St. in Springfield and it was only about the 6th or 7th shot I took so far with my B500 red.

This was taken with a Sony Mavica camera when they first came out. By today's digital standards, the resolution is pretty poor, but in the late 1990s and first part of 2000, it was a state of the art camera. I loved it.

For the What's in the Background Group?, snow-covered Mount Hood is in the background. For the Small Town America group, this was taken near either Hubbard area or Brooks area of Oregon, and they are both small towns.

Here is a little bonus riddle for you that like them... Anna is still 7 years old, but this coming Christmas on December 25, 2012 will be her 9th Christmas. How can that be???
This is a hand-held shot with a pint and shoot camera. I just noticed close to 3 weeks after posting this, that I typed "pint and shoot camera" instead of point and shoot camera. Does that mean one drinks a pint, and then takes a gun and drunkenly shoots anything around?

This is along Highway 99 in Junction City, Lane County, Oregon USA. Flickr's maps are terrible, so the location I marked is not even close, just as Flickr Maps are not even close. They seem to allow all kinds of ways to screw up, name a place wrongly, etc. but trying to delete my whole entry completely from their stupid map program just doesn't seem to be a choice I can find. You may notice that I no longer even try to place very many of my photos on their maps. I even called them one time on telephone, and after a long time on hold, got a human being, and he said it wasn't his department. Did he offer to get the man who could help. NO! Terrible company!

This began as two photographs I took, each a Rainting. I purposely moved my camera vertically for the top part you see here and then horizontally for the bottom part. I pasted the two versions onto one picture and gave some cropping, minor adjustments and a Watercolor 4 technique.
I almost makes me think of some boats in a harbor at night.
For Dave C., For me, the *soul* of this one is that I knew ahead of time that I was going to make it artistic for Slider's Sunday. It began as 2 Raintings, and I combined those with some additional Watercolor techniques. It was fun.

The border is a somewhat unique way I have of taking little sections of my photo and making them look like blinds; so they are not necessarily *painterly* but just artsy. The middle part, lots and lots of keys, has a watercolor technique from my photo program. Best viewed large to see the effect.

I'm posting this for my new friend. I'm sure if I have her gorgeous kitten's name incorrectly or the name of the breed, that she will tell me. ;o) She told me today that she will probably name him Star.
His owner told me July 6, 2017 that he is not going to be Button, or As a Button nor Star, but finally she has decided on Little Elf and calls him Elfie. I will see if she sticks with this name. Ha Ha!
She told me that soon his eyes would be starting to turn green, and sure enough, they are.
This shot is through a window; so there are some blemishes, but I still think he is adorable.

He surely is cute, and the higher he had to reach up into that tree, the better he seemed to like the taste. I think his antlers are growing too much out to the side and downward, but what do I know?

For Dave C., I confess to a small amount of guilt here because I already posted a similar picture approximately 12 prior to this one. It was horizontal though, and not vertical like this one. However, I only needed 1 gallon of milk which caused me to go out that morning in time to catch the sunrise, and I took more than 1 picture. I am going to have at least one more in the near future. It is going to be of the same two pylons, but sort of doubly reflected artsy stuff. Is it OK to get more than one picture per gallon? Do I need to pro-rate the *soul* or what?

Of course they are Hippos or Hippopotamusses, I thought I was being pretty clever with the title. LOL I tried a watercolor technique with my Arcsoft5 program. I don't usually use it, but it was a nice change. This was the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon. Two females.

Thanks to my Flickr friends who let me know, that yes, it is a dogwood tree. If need be, let it load for 2 or 3 more sconds than normal, and it should come out nice and clear.

For Dave C., I think the *soul* of this one is that I didn't like the sky near the tree at all when I first drove up. It was really plain and drab. I took the picture anyway, and the plain sky just accentuated the beautiful dogwood blossoms.

I have heard of MACK trucks for years and years. I never heard of a MAC truck, though, and that is what this big, beautiful, shiny red truck said on it. Will someone please let me know the story is here?
Oh, also the front grille says KW. What's up with that?
OK>> I think my Flickr friends have cleared a lot of this up for me. The KW stands for Kenworth, a make of truck I have heard of forever. I just didn't know they used KW for the emblem. KW stood for the first and middle name of my great grandfather. He used them as a nickname and was called KW, strung together and pronounced as if they were still in an alphabet. I saw those two letters and my thoughts turned to him and not to the Kenworth name. Secondly, I think the word MAC on various places on the truck probably does refer to MAC Leasing, a company, after all and not a brand nor a person.

I took this shot during these last 8 days of March 2020. I touched up some ugly electrical equipment and then put it in a photo program I like. How the remaining picture looked then, not the ugly electrical equipment. It would be difficult to run that through a photo program. It was shot with a Nikon CoolPix B500, but when I do my bibbity-bobbity boo on a picture it oftentimes loses its EXIF Data. It also loses large sizes. Sorry, but sometimes I think it is worth it.

Sisters ~ Long Hair Cats, I believe Moira was toward the window and Destine toward front. When people adopt cats at Heartland, they are free to change the names if they want, and these two were there over 10 years ago.

Flickr shows a Nikon Coolpix L820 but that is because I can't afford a scanner, and I took a picture of this old Kodak Instamatic shot with the Coolpix camera. The shot in 1975 was clearly not taken with my Coolpix camera.

It achieves an oftentimes pretty or soft flowing effect, and sometimes other-worldly. It is usually creative, fun, and fluid, seldom harsh in my opinion. I have an album of them on Flickr. Rainting is already in "The Urban Dictionary" but I would like it to also be in a more sophisticated/educational type of dictionary. I started a public Flickr group of Raintings on New Year's Day 2020.
The more collegiate type of dictionaries say that the word has to actually be used by people before they're likely to publish it. So if you like the word and my idea, say it loud and say it clear and take a few Raintings and post them to my new group. Using my word and trying my new group are not inclusive of one another.

For Dave C. and other Flickr friends, I believe this is a Red-Tail Hawk and a Douglas fir Tree in a hard rain, but I'm not 100% positive on either. The *soul* for me is that usually when I got really close, they flew away, but this one continued to sit in the pouring rain.

For years seniors have been taken advantage of through telephone or in person scammers. The Eavestrough Scam has been around for more than a decade now. We have educated ourselves on scam calls, emails etc. but sadly some people are still vulnerable to these scam artists.
When I saw the Zombie Bird checking our our eavestroughs all I could think of was he was going to try to scam me into cleaning them for an astronomical price and then never follow through like the scammers - of course, his price would just be all the bird seed :-)

I made several efforts to remove this from the Favorites: 10 pool because it has now reached Favorites: 15. First Flickr just wouldn't do it. Then I got a little note from Flickr saying I couldn't remove it because I wasn't a member of it. Then when I tried again the Flickr pink & blue balls started not only moving, but multiplying. So I gave up. Arrrgh!
