edna, you like baseball, right?
sure, stanley. why?
I picked up some great seats at the ball park!
you got tickets? how exciting!
well, not tickets.
no?
no. they're, uh, seats. I found them inside a crate. on the ground. sort of.
what?
yeah, so I, uh, you know, picked them up. and, uh, put them in the, you know, car.
you stole stadium seats?
I, uh, well. . . yeah! I thought they would, you know, uh, match your eyes!
really? oh stanley! that is so thoughtful!
it is? I mean, thanks! anything for you, edna.
The Scalp is a narrow glacial valley located on the Western side of Barnislingan Hill in the Dublin mountains. The name is derived from the Irish An Scailp meaning The Chasm. It is an apt description for this steep and sometimes vertical landscape of rock and forest.
Samuel Lewis described it well in his 1837 Topographical Dictionary of Ireland -
"A deep natural chasm in the mountain, forming a defile with lofty and shelving ramparts on each side, from which large detached masses of granite many tons of weight have fallen, on each side large masses of detached rock are heaped together in wild confusion, apparently arrested in their descent, and threatening at every moment to crush the traveller by their fall"

I did a wefted reroot for WarmLeatherette, and trimed the hair so she wasn't tripping over it. Wefts are a little tricky to finish so that you don't see the "weft"; sewn bit thruogh the hair, mohair wefts are easier but this tuned out OK. :)
I had time to shampoo and condition Willow's new alpaca scalp today - much happier now that it's more willowy and not so billowy like it was yesterday after I finished the reroot. Now we're just waiting on eye chips and install those and attach her new hairs. It feels good to have this one done.
The trio of porcelain kitties are from my bedroom china cabinet - I had lots of goodies that were packed and stored in the early 1980's and just recently found my box. I had quite a few sets of miniature critters like this. Unfortunately I left them on the dining room table overnight and my cat knocked most off and they broke :(. Thankfully this one full set survived.
Just wanted to document how I fixed Hope's scalp before the mohair was rerooted...I sewed it and added a bit of E6000. She will be getting a side part so this will just "blend in and hide" once the reroot is done. :)
PS Sorry these pics are from a week ago..... I have been uber busy helping my hubby with a big event he had at his shop last weekend (which included a house full of people). Now that is over and done with I am doing some serious catching up. Eek!
The interior preserves the head and shoulders of a bearded warrior, moving to the right. With his shield on his left shoulder, he wears a cuirass decorated with a palmette and drapery over his right shoulder. His Corinthian helmet is worn off the face, and a wreathed scalp lies on top of it. Gloria Ferrari ( "Myth and Genre on Athenian Vases," Classical Antiquity 22.1 (April 2003), suggests the figure may be Achilles wearing the scalp of the Trojan prince, Troilos. Around the tondo, meander pattern with chequer squares.
To the left of the warrior’s head is an inscription:
ΕΥΦΡΟΝ]ΙΟΣ ΕΠΟΙΕΣEN
Translation: ‘[Euphroni]os made [it]’.
The exterior (not seen here) preserves a Centauromachy. It depicts a foot of a fallen Lapith, the hind leg of a Centaur, and a greaved leg of a Lapith who thrusts his spear into the flank of a fallen Centaur (seen in rear view). Blood spurts from the wound.
Greek (Attic), Athens, ca. 490 BCE.
Attributed to Onesimos (Greek, Attic, active 500-480 BCE) and signed by Euphronios (Greek, Attic, active 520-480 BCE).

I love this little sweetie, one of my girls that I re-did in early February of this year ... so Chris and Kersten helped me decide on a new scalp for her. This is a gorgeous re-root by Shershe, I think the first one I ever got from her! And this sweetie loves her Melacacia dress from Blythecon!

the amount of hair still on my head? hadn't even been cut to be styled yet. That was just pure de-ponytailing.
A girl I've been working on for a while who was waiting for the perfect scalp to make her complete. This Peony scalp has got to be one of my favorites of all time.
